@@kevinbarry71 Bingo. Coldest ambient temperature I've personally experienced in the Rockies is -55° F. Plenty of times below -40° F. #2 diesel fuel at that temperature is pure slush, #1 gels. Without heated fuel tanks, diesel equipment at that temperature had to burn Jet A. Hard on the engines, but they wouldn't stay running otherwise. Block heaters were an absolutely necessity for diesels, and often needed for gas engines, too. Believe it or not, I actually enjoyed those winters.

I’ve got the crew cab 6.5’ bed in 2wd. Gasoline version. My best MPG is 28.something. The tailgate sells the truck. 8 times out of 10 I open the secondary gate and use it to step up into the bed or put it down to reach father into the bed. I think the current style is spot on and hope it sticks around for a long while. Just got a wireless CarPlay adaptor so I can wireless charge and still have CarPlay working. Best add on so far. I really wish there was more accessories that work together like a bed cover that works with a corner post rack system to hold a tent and still allows you to open the bedcover(tri fold). Everything thing I see uses a clamp system that you can’t have both at once.

I have the 2020 AT4 w/3.0 Duramax that I purchased in early Aug 2020, trading in my 2011 6.2L Ford Raptor with 67K miles that was getting 13 locally and about 15 hwy if everything was in my favor. My AT4 currently has 3900 miles, has averaged 24 MPG since I left the dealer, the best 50 miles according to the display is 31.4 MPG. It’s been pretty much a 50/50 split between local driving and road trips. I still have a while to go for the first oil change. The truck is loaded with every option, the technology is great, the truck has the trailer towing mirrors,👍🏼, the 6’7” bed, the 20” wheels w/Goodyear All Terrains (I did want the 18” wheels) , premium paint, the off road side steps, the 3.0 Duramax/10 speed, every option package, tech package, the console vault and rear under seat storage box, etc. It runs great cruises at low RPMs, the 10 speed is a perfect match, fuel range is outstanding, plenty of power and really quiet & comfortable. The cameras are amazing. The only two things I have done so far was a black DIAMOND BACK HD cover & Craven Speed stubby antenna. I would recommend the AT4 w/Duramax with out any reservations!

I’ve got a ‘20 Silverado with 3.0 Diesel and it definitely doesn’t like the cold. On a trip for thanksgiving I got 28.5 Mpg (temps in the 50’s), I did the same trip for Christmas and it was in the 20’s up to 30 degrees and got 23.5 mpg. I bet the louvers behind the grill closing cause a lack of aero, and the cold might keep engine temps just sub optimal. Mileage seems ok when driving 40 degrees and above. Heck in the summer I did a trip with 4 people and a bed full of stuff to the Outer Banks, NC, and got 29.7 mpg on the way down and 30.0 mpg on the way home! It’s a mileage machine.

It’s plausible, although I haven’t really seen any comparable decrease in mileage on normal tanks when not traveling. Where I live (WV) we don’t get that kind of brutal cold I saw on the way back from CT, and I’m sure I have winter blend here. It’s gotta be the louvers as a major factor. They seem to come into play under 40 degrees from what I can tell, and I get plenty time here under that.

The fuel efficiency of diesel over gas generally pays for that difference. When looking at the Colorado/Canyon gas vs diesel, I had done calculations based on fuel prices in my area at the time. Basically, after 30k miles, you're spending more money on fuel owning a gas engine vs a diesel even with the price difference between the two fuels.

I know trucks are heavy and stuff but how is 25mpg efficient? I had a 2000 Mercedes ML320 that could do that mpg. 20 years later and a smaller engine and a diesel get the same mpg and that is good? I'm confused.

It much higher than a gas powered pickup. And I promise it can tow and haul a bit more than your Mercedes.

Yeah, let's ruin the looks of another truck! (Although the Baby Yota looks good with its softop). OK, just joking about ruining the looks.

Would be a great truck if they didn't put a belt you have to pull the transmission to service it.

I have this truck I northern Ontario, where the temperature is -30 Celsius, it is terrible, DEF freezes and check engine light comes on and goes into limp mode, Gm doesn't have a fix for it . Do not buy for cold climates
