Hi all! On the branch of strange cases this week's video is quite different to my usual, partly to give us a refresher from traditional true crime - We're back to the usual next week! I’m very curious to know what you thought of this week's oddball case... important to try new waters every once in a while. Edit: Just wanted to add to those who were interested and wondering - Helen preferred both ‘she’ and ‘they’ pronouns. I chose the former to better differentiate between Helen and Snow throughout the story. And thank you to Babbel for sponsoring today's video. At the height of my involvement in the goth scene, taking videos or photos in a cemetery has always been a tempting activity. I did not have the vanity to do so, and as I got older the foolishness of such an act grew in my mind. In the end I did not miss out on anything from not doing it.

@@meligoth Still even taking pics in a cemetery is very different than dancing on the graves. Permission obviously should be sought, & the cemetery could even come up with some compromise or conditions that theyd find acceptable. The four fundamentals of handling a firearm should be taught more often. They're very easy to understand: 1. Treat every gun as if it's loaded 2. Never point the muzzle at anything you don't intend to destroy 3. Keep your finger off the trigger until you're ready to fire 4. Be aware of your target and what's behind it And it's an unwritten rule that you never EVER handle a firearm while inebriated in any way. I smoke weed every day, but I won't touch it if I know I'm going to the range.

yes! there are a couple of guns in my house and i do have to handle them sometimes, and even when they're completely unloaded, chamber cleared, i still treat it as if it's loaded, keep my finger off the trigger, and point it strategically to avoid damage or worse, just in case. guns do not care what your intentions are and so you need to remain diligent and aware of what you are doing and what's going on around you when you're handling guns at every second. definitely don't pull them out when you're drunk... beyond snow i think their boyfriend and possibly their parents also bear some responsibility for this happening. the boyfriend is stupid because leaving your gun somewhere like that is already negligent. leaving it with someone known to be reckless and regularly drunk is negligent. leaving it with someone who does not know even the basics of gun safety is negligent. i wish that gun hadn't been in their house that night...

I thought this stuff was taught to everyone until I showed my friends the airsoft pistol and most of them didn't seem to give a shit about safety. I know first hand that everyone has different coping mechanisms when it comes to dealing with tragedy and death. Yes it is an odd way to deal with it but it may just be her way of coping. Don't get me wrong I am not on her side, just saying facts. Also I know this doesn't excuse anything being very young like that and if genuinely thought the gun was empty then, she would obviously think it was safe to pull the trigger. Not at all difficult to understand, let's be honest. But gun should never have been so easily accessible. But from my experience, I lost my best friend of 12 years, it had been 6 years now and for the first 3 years I was horrible to everyone I come across online or in real world. Taken me a while to realise why I was doing it, it was just automatic for me as I was just not happy my friend is gone. People cope with things in different ways..so maybe for her to act like nothing happened and treat it like fiction and make videos about death was probably a coping mechanism.

Before we even got to see the gun Bill went through all the safety rules and really stressed that we were to walk behind the person with the gun, the person with the gun was to keep it pointed at the ground till you're ready to shoot, don't point it at anything you don't want to kill, the safety comes off as you lift the gun and your finger stays off the trigger till you're ready to shoot. Bill then showed us how the gun worked, how to check it was safe and then had us watch him shoot a couple of pigeons. He then let Ben have gun, but reiterated all the safety rules first. Ben took 3 steps in that time he took the safety off put his finger on the trigger, tripped and blew a hole in the ground to my left, I was luck the stupid bastard didn't blow my toes off of spray me with buckshot. Bill tore him a new one and made him go sit in the car for the rest of the afternoon.

I actually went to highschool with Snow and lived just a few streets down from them. Went to their house, met their parents and sibling. I can't say much about their stepdad, but snow's mom was incredibly enabling of them, always bailing them out of bad situations even when it was undeniably Snow's fault. I was into anime during highschool so Snow and I connected and became friends. Over the course of a month they started bullying me and several others in our group of friends through manipulation and gaslighting. It escalated to the point where they told me to kill myself, something they claim that they would "never do", then tried to backpedal by calling the police to my house even though I wasn't home. This happened back in 2016. Although most of my highschool friendships have drifted apart, we are still united by how much we hate, and fear, Snow.

One of the first rules of gun safety is it's always loaded. Even if you just took it apart and know it's empty. It's loaded.
@GrumpyMunkyGameDesign3 жыл бұрын
No its perfectly sane, because an unloaded gun breeds an air of complicity, you assume the guns unloaded so you treat it like a toy, and THATS what makes it more dangerous, not the gun itself, its the lack of concern by the user when they BELIEVE its unloaded. This is why gun safety teaches to treat an unloaded firearm as tho it were loaded because you NEVER know unless you check wether thats true or not and becoming complacent with firearms to the point you can direct them towards people 'jokingly' is even more dangerous because it betrays a lack of respect for the destructive capability of the weapon in question and anyone caught doing that should have their firearms license revoked immediately because they clearly have no respect for the power they wield.
@anenfairy49963 жыл бұрын
@@natalielee35 absolutely, as someone who handles and builds them, yes. If I took apart a gun, especially in an environment where I am not alone - someone could have just as easily put a loaded mag or a round in for god knows what and now I'm coming back to a loaded gun. its only ever happened once and my paranoid must-check-if-its-loaded tendency found said round. Honestly, I have a very do not touch my guns attitude as it is, but especially not at my house. Best way to avoid mistakes? Check if its loaded, every time, but even better? Don't let people touch your guns to begin with unless you're at the range. They say people who build guns are a lot less fun to be around, and its true, because we're far more experienced with the third party element. most accidents could be avoided altogether if people would just learn how to properly handle a firearm. For anyone who knows her and Danganronpa as a whole understands why ETA: there's also the fact they sexualized child characters, posed in graveyards and romanticized characters like Junko like how the toxic side of true crime romanticized Ted Bundy and the Columbine Shooters (nothing wrong with liking characters who did bad things as long as you don't agree with their actions, I like villain/antagonists too, but it's why I had to make the comparison to THAT side of true crime to get my point across somehow)

I wanted to add as someone that found my best friend dead when I was 15, and we absolutely LOVED Cosplay and horror, NOTHING was the same for me after that. I could never have made the type of Yandere content Snow did after that incident. While everyone and how they cope with pain and loss is different of course, and I am still an avid lover of horror, I had to stay away from the subject of death for a very long time. I couldn't even handle shows that had funerals in them for awhile, ESPECIALLY torture or anything that had gore. I remember a girl in High School reading a poem about how she thought death was beautiful - when I used to write dark gorey poems about death all of the time before my own incident with my friend - and I was furious to my core listening to her that day. To this day I can't watch dark things the same way like I used to love them when I was a young teenager. Snow and I are different people of course, but I feel as someone who could potentially relate, I do not understand her actions afterwards AT ALL. I was unfortunate enough that my best friend was already gone when I found her, and there was nothing I could do, and how hard the subject of death was for me for many years to come. I can only imagine the added on trauma if I WERE THE ONE that directly caused her death like in Snow's case. So the fact that Snow not only seemed to revel in death after her friend's passing, but boasted about being a "real Yandere" after literally shooting her, I find absolutely revolting. As someone that absolutely loves Horror and even the Yandere stereotype to a degree, I could never have "coped" the way Snow did. I fully believe she is not fully remorseful, and seems to romanticize the event and death still, and 110% deserves to be in prison for her carelessness, accident or not. Guns and weapons are not a joke. This was a great video, thank you - I love this channel and the thoughtful coverage of these cases.

Unfortunately the gun owners responsibility is not considered. If the gun owner was responsible then the gun would have had either a trigger lock, a chamber lock , a gun safe or all three. Any one of these simple inexpensive things could keep countless accidental shootings. We may have the right to bare arms but rights come with responsibility.
@BenSS33 жыл бұрын
I agree on some points, but the change in content could very easily be due to traumatization, which may cause a person suffering from it to create content relating to it. There are generally two reasons for this behavior, generally speaking, if that is indeed the case: Firstly, it's their mind's way of trying to cope. This may be done by taking the subject lightly, such as making fun of it, recreating similar situations to re-live through the traumatizing situation but ending with no one being hurt, to try to trick oneself into believing that it had happened the way it was recreated, to escape the feelings of guilt (among many others, such as self-hatred). The second situation that commonly may occur would simply be the person being so desperate to cry out for help, that they do similar things that are the cause of their distress, partially subconciously (without the person really realizing why they're doing it themselves, at least not entirely). So in both purely hypothetical situations, it could well be a normal psychological response due to grief and guilt, and so on. Note - I am not a medical professional in any way, shape, or form. I'm merely offering a personal insight based off of speculation. Also - I am not saying that she's not in the wrong by any stretch, nor am I saying that she's 100% at fault, either. My only reason to post this reply is to hopefully spread awareness of how our minds work (in some cases) to cope with what I'd imagine to be unrelenting guilt and basically the whole world being against her. Imagine putting yourself in that person's shoes for a moment. It's absolutely terrifying, just the thought that many people on the internet would try to harrass you and possibly even target you for more nefarious plots... They know your face, your basic info, and could probably piece together where the person lives from past videos, social media, and so forth. Yeah, I'll pass on that, but I'll also try not to do something so foolish. (Yes, she was on drugs, we ALL have that one dumbass moment that we can recall - be honest! ;] ) P.S. - The media attention that this would get will always try to paint someone as the victim, and another group/person as pure evil. Let's keep this in mind, as boring accidental stories don't sell as many copies as a novelty cold blooded killer case. :(

I once had to point a real .45 at someone for a zombie-photoshoot with the safety off due to the angle. Before we began, I had the girl I'd be pointing it at come over and told her I had to show her it was empty (and verify for myself). Despite her saying it was fine, I explained that this wasn't optional. I took out the magazine and verified it was empty, checked the chamber, cocked and checked the chamber again, double checked the barrel, etc. It was 100% empty and I knew it, but I was still going to triple check and show her as well. Lightest trigger finger on that gun still during the shoot. Everything went fine. Even knowing that gun could not fire a bullet because it was 100% empty, I was still paranoid about it. It's better to be paranoid than for someone to end up dead. Everyone needs to understand that all because a magazine is removed, that doesn't mean squat if there's one in the chamber. It takes one mistake with a gun for someone to be dead. So, like you, I'm happy he explained this and showed the diagram.

As a gun owner, You NEVER point a gun at ANYTHING unless you are willing to destroy it. This means keeping the safety on, finger inoff the trigger, and not pointing it around. I consider my guns no different than my power tools in my workshop. You follow the tools because they didn't RESPECT the tools ability to cause harm under certain situations. That's where I see the problem with this case. these women show ZERO RESPECT FOR ANYTHING (like dancing on graves). These are the kinds of idiots that should be near a gun, knife, or a Tide Pod. Basically anything. It's not lack of education or access to proper gun training that would have prevented this. It's lack of respect for anything and not thinking at all. This is the same attitude you see on TikTok where some idiot goes car surfing or parkouring off a large building that is out of their league...all for views and ego. The cosplay community is incredibly toxic. The mix with social media and trying to be “cos-famous” just allows for horrible narcissistic personality to thrive. Which just leads to horrible things from assault, cyber bullying, harassment, and other horrible things

The moment someone starts waving a gun around like it’s a toy and pointing at people they need the gun taken away from them immediately. They put everyone at risk the first rule of firearms is treat them like they are loaded wnd always anticipate ones in the chamber until you clear it
@bookishwitchymama972 жыл бұрын
I was blown away by the carelessness. Every time I pick up my gun I check to make sure it’s not loaded or it doesn’t have one in the chamber even though I have no intention of even touching the trigger. You just don’t mess around with guns!
@fearlesswee50362 жыл бұрын
@@bookishwitchymama97 For any responsible gun owner it should be muscle memory to clear the chamber and remove the magazine every time you pick it up, even if you are 100% confident it was last stored unloaded. And even then, don't point it at anything you don't intend to shoot, and keep your finger off the trigger. People might ask "why treat it like that when you already verified it was unloaded first?" it's because it keeps you in the habit of just naturally treating it safely, so you don't slip up while it *is* loaded.

Family raised me that if you raise a firearm, loaded or not, you better kill me before I kill you. Guns are not toys, they are tools for providing safety, freedom and food.

Is it true that, Helen replied with, "do me"? She's not alive to refute that. That Snow character is a psychopath. I wouldn't believe a word she says, if I were the prosecutor. Her actions after the killing/murder say volumes. Lock her up and throw away the keys!

Their pronouns are they/them
@marionfriedenthal73523 жыл бұрын
@@raineyday6908 That is her choice. Personally I am not going to change the way I use pronouns to make someone feel more accepted. There are billions of people on this planet who have grown up with he/she pronouns. Is it your mission in life to tell those billions that Snow's personal pronouns MUST be used? She can use whatever she likes, as can those commenting. Thank God I'm not in this world much longer. All this pc stuff is exhausting. I can only imagine the mental jolt for the jury when one person on trial is constantly referred to as they/them.

This is why the yandere concept SHOULD stay confined and compartmentalized to fantasies. I'm a huge Himiko Toga fanboy, but rest assured that if I saw her in real life, I would suddenly run the opposite way at FTL speed. Mixing fantasy and reality NEVER ends well.
@The_Gallowglass2 жыл бұрын
Well, then you have to ask yourself why you want to fantasize about a psychopath in the first place
@redshirt492 жыл бұрын
@@The_Gallowglass It's basic escapism and curiosity. You ever played GTA, watched a superhero movie or series about killers? Things that are strange and alien are interesting when viewed from a safe vantage point, this is the basic human nature of curiosity. After all, nobody is all that scared of a tiger they came to the zoo to see, but they wouldn't make that same trip to see a tiger without the safety of bars in between. All things dangerous are interesting and fascinating to us so long as they can not realistically do us harm. In that sense there is nothing unusual, controversial or concerning when one enjoys content featuring a psychopath or deranged character as the star. It leads to the correlation and causation fallacy, i.e. a violent, homicidal psychopath was really into GTA and Counter-Strike, ergo GTA and Counter-Strike are breeding grounds for psychos. When the reality of the connection is the other way around; violent, homicidal psychopaths are drawn towards imagery of the same, if it were unavailable, nothing about them would change.
@NotmyRealname8472 жыл бұрын
Stock characters like Yandere or Tsundere were not invented by anime. These kind of people have always existed. In any case, the crime she committed seems to have nothing to do with any of that - she was simply a moronic narcissist who killed someone by acting irresponsibly. This could have happened regardless of her making it big on Tiktok or being into cosplay.
@jadedcoyote79282 жыл бұрын
Toga is hot and women who cosplays her are also very hot. You can think someone is hot without liking their personality. Also she is usually very cute when she isn't homicidal so it's easy to ignore the crazy half the time
@redshirt492 жыл бұрын
@J Anda Good point. Amazingly, most people who put on costumes don't go around murdering people either, even those who put on combat fatigues and wander about town with AR-15s. Because that's just something the deranged tend to do. And you'll find them in all walks of life, among all interests and professions.
