Robert Z’Dar had a rare medical condition called cherubism, that's why his jaw was so enormous.Because of this and his big physique he was mostly cast in villain or henchmen roles. He's the main henchman in Amir Shervan's other ''masterpiece'' Samurai Cop,was the bad guy in Tango & Cash, who tries to kill Stallone & Kurt Russell in jail and of course the titular ''Maniac Cop''.He appeared in over 100 movies and tv-shows in his career and was actually a super friendly guy,who frequently appeared at conventions and hung out with fans. Before going into movies he had a pretty illustrous career. He played college football, was a police officer in Chicago, played in a funk band and was even a Chippendales dancer! Sadly,he passed away in 2015, from a cardiac arrest R.I.P.

He seemed nice enough, unfortunately though I didn’t go up and talk to him. I think I got a little star struck.....or maybe it was that friggin jaw lol. Anyways, RIP MR. Z’Dar.

That's crazy--they have Jim Brown in this movie. And not even as the star, apparently. One of the most decorated football players of all-time and a guy who has been in some huge movies, like the classic Dirty Dozen and somehow the guy who directed Samurai Cop was able to score him for a film.

Weren't they lampooning an old commercial Jim Brown did years before? When the women each took a turn saying some cheesy suggestive thing to him. I'm pretty sure he was in a beer commercial with the exact same setup around the late '70s or so. Although a bit less suggestive in that one.

It's a treat to witness how Mark has gotten better and better at this over the years: entertaining, informative, unpretentious and effortlessly hilarious. I was first introduced to Robert Z'Dar in his signature role of "Maniac Cop" (which to this day I consider to be trash of the highest order) and enjoyed many of his movies back in the 80's and early 90' (with the help of a kid brother who rented every bad movie that showed up at the video store, lol). By all accounts a great guy who turned what would seem a major disadvantage into a successful action movie career. Thanks for remembering him once again and for another laugh-out-loud review.

Robert Z'Dar was also in Maniac Cop 1-3. His jawline is a result of Cherubism. Cherubism is a rare genetic disorder that causes prominence in the lower portion in the face. The name is derived from the temporary chubby-cheeked resemblance to putti, often confused with cherubs, in Renaissance paintings. I liked a lot of his movies, sad that he never got his own block buster. He was an excellent villain in many movies.

11:00 The amusing thing about "any place that's not his jaw" being his weak spot is that's actually a joke in Tango & Cash. Long story short, Tango (Sly Stallone) & Cash (Kurt Russell) are cops who are framed and sent to prison at one point. Robert Z'Dar is leading a group of inmates they'd jailed who are planning on beating them to death. Z'Dar tells Stallone he's due a pound of flesh because Stallone broke his jaw and Russell's like "You broke *_THAT_* jaw?!"

I love your show, and glory-osky an actual schedule!! So polite of you, Mark. Re: ripping out of phones....there was a time long ago, roughly around the time this movie was made, actually, when a bad guy couldn’t “just disconnect it”. They were literally wired into the wall, and you *had* to rip it out. Also, everybody rented their phones from the (single) phone company, and you had to give them back when you moved or whatever. So I doubt they could just pick one up at a thrift store. Possible, but whoever gave it to Goodwill had to pay a fine if they wanted a phone at the new location. Anyhow, keep these coming, I love to watch your channel.

For me, growing up in Ontario meant our ice cream truck was just some guy on a bike rigged up with a portable fridge filled with Bomb Pops and Creamcicles. I think it was called "Dickie Dee" or something. I am not kidding.

In Pittsburgh the ice cream person was this old guy who would rub ice cubes on your thighs & he'd pay YOU. That shit seemed wrong to me so I avoided that house.
