My friends and I went to PESO, a newer restaurant featuring Filipino food in a "fancy" way in the Victoria Ward area. They won the Star Advertiser 2023 Hawaii's Best New Restaurant of the Year award. Join us in tasting some of their dishes, drinks and desserts.

Being my best friend from grade school up thru high-school was Filipino growing up, I dern near grew up on Pancit, Lumpia, halo halo, banana ketchup, and a bunch of of other stuff I forget. All the Filipino get togethers I was invited to, all the food and all the fun stuff. I haven't had Filipino food in a few years.

Wow, that's cool that they shared their food with you and invited you to all the get togethers. I really like Filipino food, but only started to get into it in adulthood. I never liked it as a kid. I guess my taste buds expanded.

Aloha Misty. I'm not too familiar with Filipino food, so I probably wouldn't know the difference between authentic and modern twist. The only food item I had tried was halo halo. Keep the great videos coming!!!

Aloha Misty!! Mahalo for sharing this place. And def would like to try the ube and the lechon that's different. I haven't met a purist when it comes to food but I do know they exist. Bougee is good once in a while😁 I look forward to your next review as always🤙👍😋

Man the desserts were fire! 🔥 You'd definitely like them all with your sweet tooth! Nhi would love the shrimp and fish. Yes bougee is nice sometimes but we've been a bit too bougee this month. 🤣 I also have another place we went that was very expensive but I'll hold off on that video for a bit. 🤣🤑

Thank you. This is exactly my issue with these kind of restaurants. At least keep the overall flavor of the dish the same while being creative. A lot of people will think this is traditional flavors when it’s far from it. For example, I overhead a tourist while he was ordering a loco moco asking why the gravy was brown because it’s supposed to be white. Apparently where he was from someone made the loco moco with white gravy which I’m guessing is a southern spot and hopefully not hollandaise sauce 😂.

Yes if it's far off then it's a no for me. I'd definitely go back for the desserts though. But not enough to make me come back for the entrees. White gravy on loco moco?! Lawd! 🤣

Amazing looking food. Those desserts looked amazing, and you aren't really into sweets, so it must have been a really good balance between rich and sweet.

Yes not into desserts although I have been eating them at every restaurant we've been to lately. I go for anything ube so that I will eat. If it's creamy I'll eat it. But not so into cakes and cookies, etc.

Aloha Misty, Chanel and Armance (my fellow 🐯s): Nice to see all of you enjoying the up-scale Filipino food. Everything looked really delicious, even the San Miguel Beer! Nice to see upscale Filipino food has arrived in Honolulu. My memories of Filipino food was Mabuhay Cafe in Chinatown - pork adobo and rice. Your vlog brought back those memories from the days past. Looking forward to the next great adventure vlog. Much 🧧 and Kung Hee Faat Choy, to you, fellow 🐯s and Aiden! 🤙
