Sleep/Walkthrough would be more accurate. This shows how hackneyed and full of clichés are done by the review, rather than the material being reviewed. His treatment of any of the aspects of a bond film is superficial and boring. There are hundreds of reviews of Ian Fleming, James Bond, and the only James Bond who is of course Sean Connery. therefore look elsewhere.

Fantastic work. All actors who have played bond have all done brilliantly in their unique portrayals. Pierce Bronson and Daniel Craig brought nuance to bond like many before them while also being respectful and bringing new life for what Sean Connery started. James Bond is iconic and will continue to be around due to popularity and engaging storytelling given the right person who is both a fan and is dedicated and eager to bring in both new and old audience with their own version.

"with linear continuity"... it only counts when it was planned beforehand. The Quantum (which was the modern Spectre analogue) storyline was supposed to be a trilogy but apparently ended at QoS, after killing two losers in a desert. Skyfall was amazing and actually gave us some unique introductions (Moneypenny, Q, Mallory) and farewells (M and the DB5), but was a standalone. In Spectre, they pretend unconvincingly that Blofeld and Spectre were over-arching everything that happened in the first 3 movies. Bond actually blows up Spectre and captures his leader in the 4th film, but the invisible organisation still exists in the 5th movie, implying to be a threat, until they are all killed in a few seconds by a underwhelming villain, who ironically loses its main goal halfway through film, until at the very end of the film he suddenly has a new plan. Absolutely nothing was planned for continuity, except for (1) QoS being a sequel to Casino Royale and (2) some characters that are borrowed from previous films (but that also happened in the older movies).
@SouthamptonCentral2 ай бұрын
Why does it only have to be planned beforehand? I know it’s a little messy but the general storyline still works. And yes there’s plot holes and some unnecessary elements of the story (and Safin who doesn’t make any sense) but loads of bond films have plot holes and questionable villain motives. And I’d rather have a full story with a few small issues than no continuity at all. In almost every other aspect the Craig films are the absolute best in the franchise.

I think the biggest evolution was backwards. In the books, Bond has relationships with the women and they tend to drop him or leave him but he really cares for them. The books are sequential and the relationships are tied together. In the first movies, Bond is just about getting laid, either just because they are there (and eye-candy) or because the women help him somehow. By Craig, we are back to Bond in love, first with Vesper then with Madeleine. I wouldn't argue that the Bond Girls evolve dramatically, but there are one of each in "Licence to Kill". In all of the later films the women are smart, powerful, and eye-candy! But it is Bond that evolves. (Can't blame Moore for the awful middle movies. He is too old to be credible for anything (action or women) and the scripts were atrocious.) HMSS is a complete outlier.

Love seeing how Bond continues to evolve! With technology advancing so fast, it’s exciting to imagine how AI could even play a role in bringing characters like Bond to life. We recently created an AI take on Bond, and it’s amazing how close it feels to the real thing. Anyone else think AI could be a part of Bond's future

It's true that The Living Daylights was a return to a more serious Bond, but no quips? What about "He got the boot..." after killing a man by cutting his own bootlaces? Nonetheless this video overall was an entertaining history.

I think he was talking about the PTS only, but he does say in that better make that two.

I don't think Dalton was to happy about the quips. They say the ones in TLD was the writers being too used writing for Moore.

James Bond is a character in an Agatha Christie novel. I thought it was commonly known, so I didn't note which one. (I read them all a few summers ago) I beleive it was one of the few with the husband and wife team.

you see the db5 in mission impossible rogue nation, in which the palace they go to if you look around the parking lot, you can spot a asthin martin db5, so that means either bond was on a mission there, the palace in which the opera was playing, or was taking a break a little vacay. Wonderfully written, and said, well done gilbert who looks like dominic greene a little bit, but the craig films didnt find its own identity and the films were all over the place.

CAN NOT STAND CRAIG. I don't find him attractive, sexy, capable of any quip nor likable. So very happy he is gone! 007 movies are awesome and my favorite of all films. I surely do not understand what Barbara finds sexy about Craig. What a loser.

The only point of "On Her Majesty's Secret Service" was to prove that Bond was wrong to ever get married. He avoided close relationships because he didn't want to leave a widow behind. OHMSS revealed the flip side of the problem. His lovers or wives could easily become collateral damage or targets for revenge.

Thanks so much for the movie, y'all! Brosnan and Craig are definitely my favorites! Goldeneye will always have a place in my heart, and Goldeneye64 definitely had a big part to play in that. :P
