Does it get any better? Two of the most amazing guitarists sharing one stage. With Santana's Latin infused style and Clapton's blues infused style, this is a thrill to watch. No egos here, just a well respected admiration for each other's proficiency in perfection. Love the African drum beats which are so addictive. I think this is Dallas, 2004. Great reaction Harri. Thanks Harri and Cynthia. Great live choice. Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦

I went to a concert with Eric Clapton and Santana. At the end of the concert, they both got onstage and played, after about a minute, Carlos, smiled bowed, and walked off stage. As if to say there's no way I can keep up with Eric Clapton. I think it was the best concert I've ever been to. 😊👍

Babatunde Olatunji wrote and first recorded this in 1959 on his debut album "Drums of Passion." Olatunji came to America in his early 20s to study at Morehouse College and NYU. His performances with the Radio City Music Hall Orchestra earned him a recoding contract with Columbia Records. John Coltrane was a big fan and through their friendship, Olatunji became well-respected in jazz circles, so much so that he recorded with many other prominent musicians (often credited as "Michael Olatunji"), including Cannonball Adderley (on his 1961 African Waltz album), Horace Silver, Quincy Jones, Pee Wee Ellis, Stevie Wonder, Randy Weston, and with Max Roach and Abbey Lincoln. Bob Dylan name checks him on his second album "Freewheelin' Bob Dylan" in the song "I Shall Be Free." Olatunji composed music for the Broadway theatrical and the 1961 Hollywood film productions of Raisin in the Sun. He assisted Bill Lee with the music for his son Spike Lee's hit film She's Gotta Have It. Grateful Dead fans would know him from his collaborations with drummer Mickey Hart's Planet Drum projects (they won a Grammy for the eponymous album). He spent his final years in California, dying from complications of Diabetes in 2003 at the age of 75. Great pick Cynthia and thanks Harri again for the reaction.

Wouwh, two guitar heroes together on stage. I like Clapton's relaxed demeanor without showmanship, that's just english understatement. He looks like he just come back from a picnic on the beach , -)) thanks for sharing Clapton`s crossroad festival, they always have the best musicians in the world there. What a treat. I did not know that these two artists were ever on the same stage at the same time. It's a remarcable contrast to their individual styles. I love Eric's playing but to be honest.... Carlos makes a guitar sing. His style is amazing. Thanks for bringing this collaboration to us. Take care.

Cynthia - One could not ask for more than to have this performance by EC, and Carlos Santana submitted, played, and then reviewed by Harri. We all have our favorite players, and for guitarists, I have always had Clapton and Santana in my upper tier. This specific performance has both of them at their best and in synergy. Bravo Cynthia! Harri, your review was quite enjoyable. Perhaps even electrifying at times.

Clapton passion comes through his fingers--and there is a lot of it. His style changes--on purpose--every few albums or so, always returning to the blues. Santana IS passion, from his toes to his ends of his hair! He said something to the effect that a solo without passion is a waste of time. I believe him. What a great combo Hari!

Crossroads Festival happens every 3 years if my memory is correct. Eric Clapton started the festival. Eric did this for others. It is not about him. This is why it is happy and not competitive. It is appreciation of each other. The crowd probably was tired from watching 10 hours of music each day from the previous 2 days of the festival and I can only imagine I would be quiet too. I am only guessing because I never attended the festival yet. I will :) One day :)

Harri........Crossroads is a Guitar festival that Clapton has put on Every 3 years starting from 2004 to 2019. It is to benefit his Substance addiction Center in Antigua in the Carribean. This one was in Dallas Texas. He has them at a different location each time. Hopefully he will have one this year. He invites a bunch of great Artist to play.

At this level of mastery, the guitar responds to the player’s thought. The fingers are an afterthought. Jimi Hendrix played this way..he thought it, it came into reality.

So here we are, at the Charlotte Coliseum, watching Carlos and the band jamming down as they do, but on a rather spiritual tune, I didn't recognize by title, when who walks out, but Eric Freaking Clapton, guitar strapped on, and proceeded to bring the house down in what seemed one long jam, with encore. I was already stoned to the bone, so to say, when like Nessun Dorma, we reached higher octaves of being and sound. It was wondrous. It was the '70s. Our crowd WAS enthusiastic to the max, and stood the whole show, at least at floor level. Was wondering if'n you would know Hausa, Yoruba or Igbo. I hear they are used in Nigeria, and these are three that I am studying. Great show.

Since it's billed as the Crossroads Guitar Festival, I assume this is one of the regular benefit concert Clapton did to raise money for his Crossroads addiction rehab clinic in Antigua, which he founded. It's quite pricey for those who can afford it, but also provides low to no cost care for those who can't. Clapton also spent some time there every year as a peer to peer counselor as part of his own recovery process. Giving back.
