America has a problem has a really… confusing? situation? The song she’s sampling is comparing the American cocaine problem of the 80s/90s to loving a white woman that you know is bad for you. Effectively, beyonce is doing the opposite in her track, as she compares a romantic partner she has to a crack addict and also, in the process, calls herself an American problem. The problem she causes in America (I.e. the influence she has on the American population) is similar to the way that crack affected black populations in the 80s/90s (I think????). I guess the difference is that Beyoncé’s influence is positive, but it’s addictive like crack (her influence is also perceived badly by conservatives, in the way that low-consequence drugs like marijuana are). It’s a bit of a messy metaphor, but I think it was intended to be really loosely interpreted.

RENAISSANCE ONLY CORRECT RANKING: 1. Alien superstar 2. Virgos groove 3. Cuff it 4. All up in your mind 5. Pure/Honey 6. Heated 7. America has a problem 8. Plastic off the sofa 9. Summer renaissance (1-9 are amazing and my faves) 10. Break my soul 11. I’m that girl 12 . Cozy (10-12 are good but wouldn’t pick them first to listen to again) 12. Energy 13. Move 14. Thique 15. Church Girl (12-15 were meh with Church girl being the cringiest and messiest song on the album)

How in tf did you rank ENERGY, MOVE, and THIQUE as the worst songs on the project... They are some of the best

@@ryanandring2688 The lyrics toward the end of heated is in reference to ballroom chanting. If your familiar with the culture youd catch it.
