I liked Gorillaz before, but this record made me love them. I even made a whole music vid for one song from TNN, but didnt upload it cuz it was quite serious and didnt match the content I've been making in mid of 2018, so it remained resting on my pc. The album always gave me nightly, spacy kind of vibes, apart from Humility, which was quite beachy. Theres no song that I tend to skip on this, however. Some may find the mood for this record not exciting and drab, but it is my comfort album, because it has this melancholic/sad mood I really enjoy. I agree with this list completely. However, despite the albums that did poorly, there is no disputing how their discography is impressively diverse and (mostly) quality, being able to appeal to basically anyone and can make you feel plenty of emotion. Alongside some very nice, well-made projects are a cast of fictional musicians that have legitimate character development that is conjured almost solely through music, that allows listeners to be able to connect to the characters in ways maybe people wouldn't if the musicians were normal, real people. I think Gorillaz is a brilliant band and I hope they keep making good projects, bad projects, and everything in between.

I liked humanz quite a bit I feel like strobelite, saturnz barz, and out of body are some of my favorite songs they've done. It felt like there was a lot of personality on these tracks and they had fun when making them

I fucking love The Now Now. Amazing songs front to back. Lake Zurich, Hollywood, Humility, Tranz, Magic City is gorgeous, Fireflies...man what an album. It is melancholic yeah, and more laid back but I dont see an issue with that approach.

Honestly I’m pleasantly surprised you put Plastic Beach over Demon Days. It was definitely my top for a long time until Song Machine. As much as I love PB, I can’t always listen to that album all the way through, I really have to be in a certain mood. SM is perfect to vibe to and listen to on its own as well. Very excited for a Vol. 2. Good shit Anthony

Gorillaz met the bar. Demon Days dented the bar. Plastic Beach destroyed the bar. Humanz realized it didn't know where the bar was before it got destroyed. The Now Now wandered the void in hopes of finding a new bar. Song Machine realized there wouldn't be another bar, so it set one itself.

Bro that’s what I’m saying. Feel Good Inc alone makes the album S tier
@tylersquanto89382 жыл бұрын
@@treysonmcgrady4750 Yeah, but there are subtle things that Plastic Beach does better than Demon Days. It’s kind of hard to describe, but I feel like Plastic Beach just comes off more realized than Demon Days does.
@r.j.tammaro83832 жыл бұрын
Not a single bad or even average track. Just consistent quality. Plastic beach is not far behind Demon Says but it has a couple songs I’m not the biggest fan of where demon days every song is good at worst and genuinely phenomenal at best

I don't think I'd be the person I am today if it were not for Gorillaz S/T. I played that CD til it broke then bought it again and played that til it broke. An absolute classic.

Really like this sort of videos. Personally none of them rank lower than a C which is where I'd put The Now Now, not because it isn´t good as I feel like it doesnt even have any skips but more because it doesnt stand out as much and I rarely find myself in a mood where I'd rather listen to songs from the Now Now as oppose to the ones on the other albums.

I still remember the 1st time I saw their debut on my local music shop, I genuinely thought they were a cantonese rap group just by their cover art. And then listening their opening line in clint eastwood oooh ooh ohh - damn thats damon. I lived in Malaysia at that time. So music news are a bit slow.

I remember being about 12 years old, after a long day out with the parents at Monks Crossing - i had spent the drive there listening to my beloved Gorillaz & Demon Days CD's in my portable CD player - skipping a beat on every bump or hole on the long road. On the hour drive home we stopped off at a big Tesco & i got to buy my first CD: Plastic Beach, i loved it then & i've only grown to love it more, mainly after a long night of being refused into a club & walking many miles, hailing many taxi's back to a new mates gaff, hearing Plastic Beach on Vinyl for the first time. Perfect album, i remember getting lost in the world the album cover & inside artwork.

Agree with most of this, but I'd probably put The Now Now up to B just for being generally very pleasant to listen to. I would also put Song Machine up to at least A tier, possibly S. I just find the production and features so exciting, it really felt like Gorillaz was finally back after Plastic Beach.

2:16 Well, in the US, probably it took a little longer for Gorillaz to catch on compared to Europe. But over in Europe, they became super popular right out of the gate, thanks in no small part to their debut album, especially the hit song "19-2000 (Soulchild Remix)," which became a big deal thanks to FIFA 2002. I was listening to this song on the radio all the time. Also, you forgot to mention the album G-Sides which is basically the Side B from the debut album and included the EP Tomorrow Comes Today (but I think you were just trying to focus only on the main albums)
@berenerchamion49982 жыл бұрын
Why no G-Sides nor D-Sides? G-Sides is really fun to listen to: Dracula, Faust, 12D3, Hip Albatross, Left Hand; whilst D-Sides’ remixes by the end are very tiring, although not so bad overall: Honk Kong is beautiful, Bill Murray is fun, & others like People, Rockit and Honkongaton are just great representative Gorillaz’ tracks. G would probably get a D tier, while D would get an E.

G-Sides and D-Sides are the most underrated Gorillaz albums in my opinion. Would love at some point to get your thoughts on them at some point. Both are at least B-tier in my opinion, probably higher. "Hong Kong" is one of the best protest songs ever written.
