@Fries terrible beats, hard to listen to staccato flows. em raps about similar things he has had for 20 years (long over due for him to talk about something else). cringy features from Bey, Ed Sheeran, and others. it is like what if nickel back made a rap album. his voice is a pain to listen to and his flow does not fit the majority of the tracks especially "Walk on water" the contrast between beyonces singing and his staccato rap is not a fun or good listen. he needed severe change but instead of going to maybe a jay z 4:44 type of vibe he went into the fast rap lyrical Miricle rap which wasn't terrible but still he can't seem to find the old energy he had before. Regardless of whether you think Eminem is great or whack, the most incredible thing about him is that he is still alive today. I was a teen when his original albums dropped. We were all sure that he would go the Cobain and Jim Morrisson route and be dead in a few years, either by OD or suicide. If someone from today went back to the year 2000 and told us that Em would still be alive in 2023, we would all laugh at him. To me, it is incredibly nostalgic and heart-warming that Em is still alive today. The man is an absolute icon to my generation.

As a 23 year old I can't help but look at Recovery with nostalgia-tinted glasses. On another note, the best Eminem song to me is White America; you really feel and hear the passion and anger he has towards his role in society at the time and he portrays his stance very vividly in his words. The production on that track is also super moody, which reminds me of something I think TES does the best of any Eminem record; its production is relatively consistent throughout in sound and quality, and what's more impressive is he did it himself.

White America should've been a direction he took more often. He could've moved on from the shock factor stuff and gotten a little more conscious, because the dude is clearly really analytical of the world around him, and I think he could've pulled it off. TES is my favorite Eminem record to this day because in a lot of ways it feels like a more serious Eminem without most of the stuff that's usually super cringey for him, and it feels so much more mature than most of his catalog too. I agree on Recovery, too. That album was like the soundtrack to my senior year of high school and I have a lot of fond memories of it, haha

Eminem Show is one of my favourite albums ever. Even tracks like My Dad's Gone Crazy, Square Dance and Halie's Song I could listen to 1000 times and never get bored. Then don't even get me started on Busines, Till I Collapse and Without Me. I think he really perfected his wordplay on this album too, as you can get most of the bars first time, and then second or third time you'll get almost all of the rest (and I say almost all because I was fairly young when it came out, maybe if I was a bit older it wouldn't have even taken that long). They're clever, but if you're listening, you'll catch them and enjoy them, and if you're not really listening, you'll still enjoy the flow. I would call myself a die hard Stan but tbh I can't really get behind a lot of his stuff from the past decade or two- you legit need a written copy of the lyrics, preferably with another copy of the phonetical spelling of the puns, to catch what he's doing even on songs you hear 20 times. There's nothing wrong with making something you can always dig deeper and deeper into and enjoy more each time, in fact its a really admirable achievement- but you have to be able to just enjoy the bars on a basic level first, or else nobody with an actual life is going to keep replaying to catch everything. The Eminem Show got that absolutely perfect blend of almost every track being totally listenable to the point you could put it on in the background and do stuff that required your actual attention, but still you'd occasionally catch something that made you smile or think- and if you sat down and listened to any given track properly you could replay and replay it and still feel like you hadn't get everything.

Beautiful is still my personal favorite Eminem song. Clumsy? yeah, Weird singing? yep, but it kind of fits the narrative. The song was partially written during the first time he went to rehab in 2005 (around the same time as "When I'm Gone"), and finished when he got clean in 2008, he added a third verse then put in on Relapse. @@Ismael-kc3ry “I am dead, dead to you as can be!” Said to his mother. Sing for the moment is full of corny lines. His lyrics were witty and clever on MMLP. ES they weren’t as well written. Simplified. I wouldn’t call it edge lord if it was actually funny: “I ain’t gonna shoot you, I’m going to put you to this bullet and pull it through you” that’s funny, clever, edgey without it being sophomoric. “Come inside of her and have a son and a new brother at the same time and just say it ain’t mine” now that’s arguably edgelord until you consider the context of the song where he’s talking about doing wicked crazy things, that was the last line of a verse where it escalates to the point of absurdity. He was like a good writer on that record. Don’t know what happened. Too many drugs?
@Ismael-kc3ry8 ай бұрын
@@ExcitedAnacondaSnake-hg8ec You gave one example of a "corny" line and failed. Like how are you gonna cherry-pick and still get it wrong lmao. Also if Sing For The Moment, an actual honest expression of his feelings on his fame untainted by the edginess of the previous album is corny, then an embellished story of a fan mailing him and then killing himself because he's heartbroken he couldn't marry him is fucking hilarious. Also if you want "edgy" lines from MMLP then look at the title track, Marshall Mathers, where he calls ICP the f slur like three times in one verse, followed by a skit where he acts them out sucking Ken's dick for thirty seconds. Or on Criminal where he talks about liking to stab queer people, on Who Knew where he acts like its hypocritical for parents to not want their children to hear his music but also teach their daughters how to wear makeup. Or on the opening for Marshall Mathers where he talks about walking the decapitated head of a dog, I guess because it sounds cool? I fail to see how that isn't a pointless, edgy filler line. I shouldn't even have to give examples, because the idea that something isn't edgy or the edginess doesn't matter if it's funny makes no sense, because humor is subjective. Not to mention that way of thinking is hypocritical if you're gonna call TES "corny". If something isn't edgy because it's funny, then something isn't corny because it's heartfelt. I don't even dislike the songs I mentioned from MMLP, but his writing is absolutely better on TES. He actually digs into his feelings on his fame and ponders how he got to the point that he was at, his responsibility as an artist and performer, and discusses his anger both through boastful and threatening lyrics on Soldier and more levelheaded and self-critical lyrics on Say Goodbye To Hollywood, Sing For The Moment, Hallie's Song, etc. That's a sign of a genuinely good writer in my opinion, not him just lashing out like a fucking child at everyone who doesn't like him on MMLP, as entertaining as that is to listen to.
@comealsolito8045 ай бұрын
@@ExcitedAnacondaSnake-hg8ec That line dedicated to his mother is dark, honest and heartbreaking so I don't know why you mentioned it. I think MMLP2 at C tier is very harsh. I get why Relapse is there despite loving it as it is pretty polarising. MMLP2 though has probably the perfect blend of Eminem from every era. You have your more modern sounding tracks like The Monster and Survival, but there’s also some really fun/hard hitting moments like Brainless and Evil Twin. The emotional beats are there too with Headlights being a standout. I get there’s a few duds but idk if it’s just me I feel like B tier would’ve suited it better.

Honestly I thought C was kind of generous 🤷 I probably would have put it lower. If not solely for the fact that he tried to make a sequel to Stan, which never needed a fuckin continuation. Personally I don't mind, but I would rate it a bit higher. That's just an opinion though, the only true fact as I said in my other comment, is that Revival is objectively his worst. Also, maybe part of it is that he went from Revival to Kamikaze. If you listen to MMLP2 then Kamikaze subsequently, does it change your opinion? For me, it still holds strong in a lot of ways, but you notice the vast difference of styles in a lot of ways. Still, at least one or two tiers higher in my opinion. Recovery is D, and it's almost insulting to give Kamikaze a D, so I'd at minimum put it with Recovery in D or raise Kamikaze to a C. Anyway, hopefully it wasn't ranked so low because Melon got dissed lol although he didn't deserve the diss, neither did a couple of people that actually got dissed. People hate on Em. His "bad" albums are full of lyricism that nobody gets. I doubt this dude even listened to Kamikaze or MTBMB because to me they are both S tier lol Kamikaze is probably the most lyrical project I've ever heard and MTBMB is right up there with lyricism and his references and cadences in both are incredible. I've listened to, broke down, and studied the lyrics to damn near every Eminem song he has put out and honestly I couldn't even fathom putting any of his albums under B tier. With my S tier being MMLP, TES, Kamikaze, MTBMB, and possibly Revival for its hidden lyricism and the way it connects to the listener. Personally, Eminem hasn't even reached his peak yet. He keeps improving and his lyricism keeps jus reaching new levels that nobody else has ever even came close to.

Em’s accent allowed him to bend words and rhyme words that weren’t supposed to. Furthermore, Em finds a pocket with his flows on this record and the Dre production was grand/crisp as always. The physical disc has a “push down ‘N turn” prompt like an actual pill bottle. Further solidifying the concept/creativity behind the album. I was born in ‘96 so I grew up on this record ever since middle school and It’s a masterpiece in my opinion… Yea yea nobody asked I know that…

Relapse is a great album, but I can see why some might not like it because of the accents

It makes way too much sense Tyler was a relapse fan. In fact most of Tyler’s old stuff is straight up influenced by Em
