I didn't see in the video-- did you burn the edges of your seat belt webbing? the edges will unravel if you don't. Also, I would add 2 inches to the length of the cut webbing which would give you a 1 inch overhang when you sew the webbing to the top of the bag-- and you could move the rivets down from the top edge
@KelleAnnRN2 жыл бұрын
This is good info. I just purchased some seatbelt webbing to try and didn't know you had to burn the edges.

Another great tutorial. But LOVE the materials; you have a whimsical style I love. Is this what they consider a Drop-in liner?
@OklaRoots3 жыл бұрын
No this is still a birthed bag. Drop in liners, from my understanding, are when we build the lining completely and the exterior completely, then drop in the lining and sew it all together, wrong sides together. I could be wrong!
@susangreen4633 жыл бұрын

Hi. Which of your sewing machines work the best on vinyl?
@malenejensen92793 жыл бұрын
Love it! ❤ I live in Denmark, and when you refer to vinyl, I really don't know which kind of fabric you mean, is it like faux leather or more what we danish calls ''Voksdug'' which is kind of a waxy/plastic coated fabric, where no water can get through? Sorry for the silly question, but I really don't know what fabric to reach for 😁
@doggydoc4uinnc2 жыл бұрын
I think what you're talking about is what we use for outdoor table cloths. Vinyl is more of a faux leather. The other is a plastic.
@doggydoc4uinnc2 жыл бұрын
Vinylgulv? Maybe?
@carydelano54843 жыл бұрын
I will love to do this TODAY, just a question: can I use vinil or waterproof canvas, all those bulk beauties in a household sewing machine just by using the Jean sewing needles? Or I must use cotton with the interfacing pellon?
@OklaRoots3 жыл бұрын
Your needle is a really powerful tool! Jeans needles will get you through a lot. But if you're worried, use the vinyl on the base of the bag only, and use canvas or quilt cotton on the rest. If your machine does well with that, then make another with vinyl for the pocket. Just take it slow so you don't end up cursing your machine.

Great project AS USUAL! Question... what size rivets do you use for the straps? I have the 8x6 I believe and they just seem so small. I've never used rivets before so I'm not sure what sizes are "standard." Thanks Jess
@OklaRoots3 жыл бұрын
All the rivets I use have a 9mm cap and 8mm post. I've never had a problem! I'll link them here, they're size medium. emmalinebags.com/collections/bag-hardware/products/double-cap-rivets-3-sizes-5-finishes-available-50-packs?variant=836945444873

Lidia on the same making a few of these for presents so I'm going to go with either Cotton Canvas or Waterproof Canvas as these I find more affordable by the meter/yard x hope that helps x

Totally agree with lupinsrose! You can grab some duck canvas from local craft stores, or check out the waterproof canvas linked in the description. Both are affordable options that work great for the base.
