It has to be made very clear that, while many may find the list itself understandably underwhelming, the way they announced, presented, and revealed the list itself was incredible. Such a huge step up in communication, and finally finding a way to capitalize on a YCS's ability to draw attention to the game. And I really hope that loud negative reactions to the list itself don't drown out the positive reception that the presentation deserves, and that Konami is not dissuaded from doing this again.

Gonna call it now, Ryzeal vs Maliss is another Spright vs Tear situation where the OCG severely undervalues a combo deck because Maxx C makes them afraid to play combo. Spright had more representation than Tear in the TCG initially and then flipped once enough TCG players got used to Danger Tear piles even pre-DABL that used Curious and Griffin to get EEV/D Barrier. Tear is a much harder deck to play than Spright. Likewise, Ryzeal is a brain dead rank 4 deck that’s incredibly linear and Maliss is another spreadsheet deck. The OCG is able to justify not playing Maliss because Maxx C is scary. Meanwhile in the TCG we don’t have that card and the Maliss endboards end up being infinitely better and sorta like Tear in the sense that there isn’t a single board breaker that clears the whole thing since they have backrow, graveyard stuff thanks to Terrahertz sending Desavewurm and Aggregator, and on field interaction from the Maliss links. It’s just a very hard deck to play compared to Ryzeal and just came out, so Ryzeal ends up being overrepresented because a blind monkey could still do their standard combo line. Maliss can still set up a Terrahertz under Lancea and so the only real issue the deck has is Nib.

@ Endershock1678 Spright could bounce Maxx C back to hand with Swap Frog so they could pull it from deck with Gigantic and have it in hand while still ending on 2 Toad, Elf, and Smashers. Tear also doesn’t play around Maxx C so much as it just makes Bagooska and passes, which is also its game plan into Shifter. I’m also talking pre-Ishizu cards. Spright 80-90% of top cut in the OCG a before the Ishizu support, which had TCG players super worried. Spright then came to the TCG, did well for a couple events, and then got surpassed by Tear even before DABL came out with Rulkallos. Pre-Ishizu Tear was more of a Danger pile that absolutely sucks into Maxx C because of inherent problems with the Dangers into Maxx C.

Sorry but right now this is pure copium. Maliss is very weak to the normal summon being interacted with AND it's weak to nib. The first wave of tear was also weak to nib however it was difficult(but not impossible) to stop them with handtraps from setting up a board. Between scheiren, dangers, instant fusion and superpoly they always had some way of interacting with the opponent during their turn. People remember the ishizu engine for pushing tear into tear 0 status, which is true but it's also important to remember that two of the dabl support cards were important in fixing tear's issues. Scream made interacting with the tear normal almost useless and rulk means tear never lost to nib again. IF maliss gets support on the level that tear got in dabl, then it could be stronger than ryzeal.

Fiendsmith is still insane with Caesar legal. Caesar has been in ban list discussions since DUNE format with Unchained and at a minimum provides a low commitment anti-Nib setup. Something like Engraver to 1 also could’ve been a justifiable hit to make the engine more susceptible to Bystials and hurt their grind game. No link 1 sorta kills the engine and I think the people who are asking for Moon, a literal vanilla, to get banned are window licker levels of stupid. But something should’ve been done to the most represented engine in the format.

Im sorry but how can you say that? You have so many problems hit now. This might not be the best list we have ever had but it’s extremely good. Tenpai is now a lot weaker and a lot more inconsistent. Yubel now loses an extremely important extender. Snake eyes is now no longer splashable at all while also making the deck itself a whole lot worse. Branded loses puppet. Yes they have like 5 other targets but they’re a whole lot healthier. At what point is this list bad???

@ u-waa OSS was specifically so that the Azamina stuff can’t bridge into SE. The deck was completely dead pre-ROTA and shot back up to something like 20-25% of top cut representation with the Azamina cards legal. Not saying that SE was a good deck at this point. It’s more a case of it having been around since like February and people are sick of it. Everyone was worried Azamina would make it tier 0 again and people were super pissed that SE was still taking top cut slots even though it wasn’t the best deck because of how long the deck has been relevant for. The whole rogue deck argument is also irrelevant because a meta deck will abuse the broken cards infinitely better. People complained about the Baronne and Savage bans at the time because their rogue decks needed them to be competitive, even though the game has been infinitely healthier with them banned and meta decks have always been able to abuse generic or semi generic cards significantly more than inconsistent rogue decks

It hurts rogue decks in a completely different manner imo to generic endboard cards like Baronne because it largely just helps them to combo off. Sanctifire was the correct hit, Master Duel has proven this MF has a LOT of alternatives to abuse, and Hidden Village is an incredibly annoying floodgate, but at least on Best of 3 they aren't as big of a problem. The hits to Snake Eye, Tempai and Yubel fantastic, should have happened last banlist but still fantastic.
