Ok. I understand Stearic acid as fat from the soap . I have been using it for the last few years for the finishing works in a restoration project in Italy. Here we get an olive oil soap with the colour removed. Our marble dust is graded , our lime is aged underwater. In use since Roman times. Thank-you both for concise and practical advise.

You've got me Googling for a marble dust alternative.. as it's unavailable in large quantities unless you are a pool builder. Excellent video. Hope you will make more of these in detail for people who want to construct using lime. May be you should start a learning course. A question.. is calcium stearate or using marble dust to achieve smooth finish considered sustainable, reversible and eco friendly? Just trying to figure out whether it goes well with Mother Nature.
@farmaanandaa Жыл бұрын
The calcium stearate layer is a few microns thick. The marble lime mix layer is a few mm thick. I am not sure what happens when it's recycled or removed, but I think the volume won't be much.

that wil be fantastic to see how excatly the process is done. I'm building my own house in Brazil totally organic and used lime a lot, and would like to know if they is alternatives, other than Tadelakt, which is very labor demanding?

Have excavated polished lime, rammed earth floors at archaeological sites but didn't think it could be done in today's concepts! I'm allergic to chemical paints and this looks like the perfect alternative. Where can I find more information about this technique? Also masons who specialize in it?

Lime is a binder like cement. You'll have to use blocks, bricks or earth to make your walls. Sustainability will depend on what else you use

Dear ! Manisha I did not get your point from 5:26 to 5:44 . ( Soap will be applied before Calcium Carbonate Sets ) For better shiny surface ). Please elaborate?
@farmaanandaa5 ай бұрын
Soap has stearic acid. This stearic acid combined with Calcium Hydroxide to form Calcium Stearate which gives the shiny mirror finish. If you wait too long to apply this soap, the Calcium Hydroxide will simple become Calcium Carbonate. It will be hard, but wont have the shine. Hope that clarirfied

There are so many types of lime. When you say lime, in europeans countries there is NHL 2 , 3.5, 5 hydraulic lime and also air lime , Quicklime, Hydrated lime etc.. What do you use in India?
@farmaanandaa6 ай бұрын
You are lucky you have so many grades of lime readily available. It's not so easy here, as cement has really taken over! We used quick lime for foundations (and then hydrated it) and standardised hydrated lime for plasters.

I think your labor had difficulty learning the burnishing process for tadelakt. At least from the videos your finishing is not on par. I feel you need to use more smoother trowels (the ones from Japan are great) or best alternative is to use smooth surfaced pebble stones - these are bit more labor intensive but your finishing would be perfect.
