Thank you for sharing this. I love how you appreciate all the metal tools and hinges. And your vision to save the beautiful door and make it into a table. If the barn does get demolished you will have a piece of history that will tell its own story in your home. I could also see you restoring the old cart. You seem to have a special way about you. I could see you turning this beautiful home into a home stay and making visitors feel very welcome. I wish you all the best from NZ.

I find it to be VERY boring! Someone yapping about something she has not much idea about! Afraid of being in a barn!!!! [rolls eyes] The feeder is not where they were munching while getting a shot!!!! [Really rolling eyes now!]

I have seen some amazing barn conversion, I would repair the barn and convert into an amazing living space with a bar. Upstairs half storage with guest rooms for company to stay.

I really enjoyed seeing the surrounding countryside, and the view approaching the house made me think of the hundreds of wagons that made the slow trip up the driveway, taking in every detail...so glad to know this beautiful old gem is being saved.

I just found your channel in my suggested videos and I am absolutely loving this farmhouse restoration series! This house and land is amazing. It is my dream to have an old place on land like this. So much history, I love how you explain a lot about the place where you can. I also love that you want to keep a lot of the old hardware and woodworking, I can’t imagine throwing those things out. Looking forward to the renovations! The pictures you took of the outside of barn would be cool done in black and white photos and displayed in the house as a nod to the history of your property. I am jealous of your farm, you lucky duck! Don't forget the soil will also have bottles and plates. Old jeans are worth lotts of money. Make sure the jeans don't get thrown away before you figure out how old they are. The barn looks like it was a good building. When l was a kid l used to play with my cousins in their corn crib. It was fun. Keep at it Laura, and blessings be.🍋🍊🍉🍈🍇🍋🍊🍉🍉🍈🍇🍋🍊🍉🍈🍇🍋🍊🍉🍈🍇

The "mill" in the old crib, which looks a lot like it may have been a house at one time, is actually a corn sheller, it takes the corn off the cob but does not grind it. The post in the big barn was more likely eaten by termites and not rotted. The place where the slats are is where cattle were fed, it is a manger and it kept the cattle from climbing up into the feed bunk. It is amazing that the lightening rods and the weather vane on one of the lightening rods are still there, these usually get ripped off and stolen by thieves as soon as the property is vacant.

That barn is amazing!💞 I love old barns. We had one down from our house that was falling down, and last winter it looked so beautiful in the snow, I made my husband get out and take a picture. 😂 I'm really glad he did, because recently out of the blue one day we drove by and it was suddenly gone. The barn wood is awesome, and the treasures inside too!! What a great property you have there! I love the updates!! I can't wait to see more progress on the house, I look forward to it. 👏

Episode 3 barn tour. What you call corn crib was an original cabin. Part including door and right side was built first one room and loft. See window holes up stairs with shutters. Corn cribs did not have windows. Later addition on left of door see straight up line to left of door that is where addition started. This would balance the cabin out with door in center. Addition would add sleeping space and kitchen for small stove. Many could not afford stone fireplaces. The space between boards top and bottom is weathering over years by then the new house is started and old cabin is abandoned or used to store feed, grain, corn or small livestock as first barn. As owners profited the long center barn/shed was added to house horse and wagon. Now main house is started adding on as children come. The large barn was added last to house growing crop yield as farm flourished. Repairs were made to the buildings being used by removing wood and nails from unused buildings until they decayed. To a farmer the roof was more important than the walls to keep things dry.. That is why many barns were more airey between boards than others.

Snakes and mice ger are by the resident cat! Appreciate the cat being present!! Every barn needs a cat! I’m sure many have already commented , it looks like the beams are solid, the siding looks worn, many people buy that kind of wood , but you already know that. The hay mow is impressive! There is always something sort of Holy & quiet about a hay mow and barn. Weather vanes are very valuable especially vintage ones!! Very cool and fun videos of this farm, I’m new to your channel , what year was it started? I’m sure the county has some public record - I love history and appreciate that you do!

Thanks for sharing your journey. Also, some of the wood in barn structures looks really good. When demolish I would sort and keep. If don't need for your renovations, there are ppl who would buy those large planks for new construction (floors, etc, also furniture mkrs love getting hold of old growth wood like that). You cannot source wood like that without spending a fortune! Best wishes.

So cool that you love old homes in detail at such a young age. Love your videos! Also, I noticed in your first video tour that the enclosed porch is not original to the year built. I hope you restructure that to the original wrap porch. Also looks like that bathroom with a door leading to the porch is an addition. A bathroom wasn't originally there. There was indoor plumbing the year that house was built. Can you locate an outhouse or water pump. Maybe the kitchen had a indoor pump sink?

You have some amazing barn wood in there that you should call around to see if a reclamation company would like to buy. That barn really is beyond being saved and is a death trap. If it was mine I'd take everything out that I wanted and then sell the wood and make a deal with them to also safely take the barn down. Companies that deal with reclaimed wood are used to dealing with that type of job and it'll be cheaper than you hiring someone to do it or clean up the mess when it crashes down.

The Civil War ended in 1865. This house was built before that. Even though the Emancipation Proclamation was in 1863, it was only applicable in Southern states, and it took a few years before everyone knew about it. Slavery lasted much, much longer than the history books say.

Love your channel! I’ve subbed! Watch those ads! That old pair of jeans will sell! Pick them up and look into the history of the jeans, you could get $50-$200 for them depending on what type and condition! No seriously! Good luck.

Just found you and fell in love with your passion of the old en day ways of living I absolutely love that history as well, but when you were by the barn filming the top part out side of it the definitely was a older man walking back and forth up there and then he was talking while you were in the barn showing all that great stuff couldn't really understand what he said but I figured I'll let you know I seen and heard him and wait for more videos to see and hear more of who that man was and who else may be there enjoy life
