Aw thanks! I think I probably annoy my dad a bit with all of my demands but he knows I mean well. I just appreciate how well things were built "back in the day" built to last. I have lots of furniture in my house from the 50's and its amazing to me how solid it is!

Hey Laura, Try putting a few in a blender with some water and liquid dish soap put it in a spray bottle and spray the underside of your plants. Try doing it after sundown. When you make your spices, make sure to keep them dry or bugs will get them. I made a Rita or braid of peppers and didn't know to shellac them and the weavers ate them.

Love the property and the House! Great videos and music. And it was fun being introduced to your dad! He is doing an excellent job so far. I would like to say that in my opinion it would be silly to keep that main floor all closed off with a tiny kitchen etc in the name of authenticity. Plus you need bathrooms of both floors and at least one working fireplace. A more open concept is good for entertaining, watching kids, and a feeling of spaciousness. If there is any thought to resale you have to consider that. Your father is a practical man. I am sure that he will do something tasteful. All the best. Looking forward to more installments of this great project.

Thank you for showing us the progress on your dad's beautiful farmhouse and land. You get to be a part of something that has always been my dream. Grew up with my grandparents and always wanted to spiff up their place, our old family farmhouse, barns, and outhouses with awesome treasures inside. (Didn't get that chance b/c I moved to another country, lol.) So these videos are special stuff. I will say, I bet that the people who left those things in the cupboard on the porch would giggle at you liking it all so much. I know my grandma would. (I like all that stuff too.) Also, one other thing: Thank you for telling us you get a little "kick back" from KZbin if we watch the ads and dont click to skip them. If I am understanding that correctly, I didn't know that. (Usu, I skip them.) So now, I let the ads run more often. Lol :)

I know in many areas bee keepers are willing to come and remove the bees for free. You might look into having that done for the long term. Or, if you want to keep them for the farm, you could have them rehomed into bee boxes but that's a little more difficult since they tend to want to come back to their "home."

yes! for now we're leaving them alone, they havent bothered us at all. And upon further research we found out that they are actually beneficial bees that eat bad bugs like flies.

There must be a place where an old outhouse must have been, perhaps near a old lilac bush.. the are people that excavate believe old outhouses and almost always find old bottles and various treasures tossed down where the waste once was ! This is such an exciting project !

The reason was when barn swallows see the blue ceiling, they think it's the sky and go elsewhere to build their nests.

We (my partner and I) are remodeling what will be our new home it was but in 1996 and I couldn't imagine how much $ it would cost to renovate an old farm house + that place is huge!!! So i defiantly agree that $ is the only thing on the mind when working on a fixer upper We are trying to keep what we can in the home and paint it up pretty but the big $$ is in the things you don't see!
