Hi Lisa! I’m a homemaker and mom of 5 living in the suburbs of NW Arkansas. We don’t have a homestead, but you inspire me to help my family be more self sufficient everyday. Thank you for all that you do!

I resonated with your comment so much. I live in an apartment so I don’t have a homestead either. It is so nice to know that there are other people out there that are trying to be self-sufficient even if they don’t have the traditional setting of a homestead. Lisa than you for sharing all of your hard work with us. By watching you and a few other homestead moms here on KZbin you guys have showed me how to work hard and how to decorate my home in a way that I love without breaking the bank. You’ve helped me more than you know, just by allowing me to be a causal observer to your everyday life. Thank you.

I am a younger mom of 2 under 2. My husband and I have chickens and quail and I would love to have a milk cow one day! You inspire me about how much is possible to do for your children and family. So many people discourage me from "doing too much." But there are so many things I have a desire to do and learn and I think it's a true gift from God to be a mom, wife, and homemaker. I want to give my kids the best I can and serve them like Christ served. You help show me it's possible through God's love and mercy to be so much more than I ever thought I could be.

Lisa, as a 60+ mom of 6 adults & 11 grandkids, I get tired watching all the work you do!😅 Even in my younger years, I didn’t accomplish as much as you do, but they were good years. Since retiring a little early, we’ve now been on a farm for 5+ years and I’m learning to do more of the things you’re doing; so thanks for sharing! Gardening, growing fruits & berries, beef and chicken production, canning, dehydrating, and freezing; it’s a great life. And, as retirees, we’re working harder than we’ve ever worked in our lives! We’re too busy to get old in a hurry!🤣

Hi Lisa. I’m a mum of one currently pregnant with my second baby. I live in the suburbs of Perth Australia! We have no land just a small patio with three above ground veggie patches that my husband built. I really love your videos, I find them aspirational, calming and very beautiful to watch. You’ve inspired me to start making our own yoghurt, butter and bread. Please don’t change your video style or feel like you need to justify your brand. You offer something special.

Just subscribed yesterday. I have baby number three on the way. These videos have been impressively calming while I am cooking from scratch, cleaning the house, decorating for the holidays, homeschooling, making my own medicines, gardening and preserving. Even in a tiny apartment, I have been able to be the kind of housewife I never ever knew I wanted to be. What a fufilling life. I have never felt more at peace with the chaos of life, as I do now. Thank you. Btw, I take iron too with my third pregnancy. Helps me from the lethargy that comes with low iron. Works better with vitamin C and beta carotene. ☺️

Love your videos. Unlike others I realize this is a production for information….and inspiration. Anyone who lives life knows this is your business. Kinda neat that you share your lifestyle decisions and can earn an income. I don’t expect to see your kids doing their chores and appreciate you limiting their exposure.

This may be my favorite video so far, and I've had many favorites. I love seeing your sweet children playing around the house, studying on the table (Theodore looked SO pleased when he did the blocks correctly ❤), you teaching your daughter in the kitchen, your older daughter filming you, your children playing outside, and of course I love watching your kitchen cooking and baking. Your calm mothering is such a blessing to your family and to us, who are fortunate to be able to view it. Good work, Lisa. 👍🙏🇺🇸

Wow! If we had to manage our time and homes like this the crime rate in our country would be drastically reduced! There wouldn’t be time to get in everyone’s business or to have time to invent some harm to do to another person! Strange that people invented things to free up our time from chores, etc., but it’s made life so easy that we can become complacent and lazy. I salute you and your family!🙌🏻 I also admire the creativity you allow for your kids. Your girls are simply amazing! Seeing that precious Theo smile after completing that shape puzzle…adorable! Thank you for ALL the hard work you do in bringing us this wonderful channel!!!

Right. Even the dishwasher (which does still take some work) is something I don’t use as often after watching this and other similar channels. I have found something so simple and peaceful in just putting music on and washing them by hand. No one disturbs me while doing it. It’s like a little slice of quiet for me.

I run a small community garden in Texas - really wish I could come help you with your garden so you don't feel so discouraged! I really recommend Botanical Interest seeds - not only do they have incredible heirloom varieties, but their seed packets are truly incredible with so many helpful tips of how to start, take care of, harvest and cook each individual plant. I also recommend looking into permaculture techniques - It really focuses on creating healthy soil and planting lots of perennials that are easier to take care of.

I haven't read all the comments but I'm pretty sure there is a common theme about this video that many of us are appreciating and that is seeing more of your kids. I know someone made a comment videos ago about 'Where are your kids?', and I also know there is a certain amount of privacy that a content creator wants to preserve for their kids, but seeing their little hands reach up to snag a bite of dough, vulturing on the freshly fried potatoes, and playing outside the kitchen window on the trampoline is such a joy. I sit here working, peeking at your video in between tasks, listening to what you're cooking for inspirations and ideas for tonight's meal, and hearing the choas of their voices in the kitchen makes me appreciate all of those moments that sometimes we stress over in the rush of the day, but miss when the kids are away from us

No Worries Lisa, I get stuck on certain foods too. They seem to taste so good that I re-make often. The kinds of activities and interests your kids are involved in reminds me of the farm families I knew when I had the privilege of being a part of a 4H club in YORK County, PA. it was a wonderful experience for me and my “only child”. She won some ribbons and acquired some relevant life skills. This was BEFORE the tech age. My daughter is now 52 and this was 40 years ago. I still attend the Winter PA Farm Show and our local county fair. God Bless rural America.

This is a skill set that used to be taught. You can't just wake up one morning and say I'm gonna either homestead or be a homemaker. The word of God speaks about the older women teaching the younger (Titus 2:4-8). Sadly, that's not the way of the world today. This is a good source of training. My kids are all grown and out of the house now. I raised 5 children and was often asked how do I do it because I worked. I enjoyed cooking and taking care of my kids and training them. Nowhere near this. I have watched this young lady for quite some time since before they had their farm. She is a gem!❤❤❤

Love the chicken freeroaming and popping into the video. It made me smile :) I really need to get back into the habit of meal prepping breakfast. I used to do that in the weekend for the whole schoolweeks, but life got so busy that I never picked it back up after the holidays. Here I started a lot of plants from seeds as well, but with the still unseasonably cold weather they don't grow that well :( I really hope I have some harvest this year. I would love to try making some dairy products but I don't have a cow and don't have the space for it so I need to buy all the dairy for it and that is so expensive nowadays here.

I use her recipe for sourdough pancakes and I make a double batch of pancakes and cook and then freeze them. My kids love them for a quick breakfast. They pop them in the microwave for 1 min and add butter and syrup! They are good fresh and from frozen and heated.

I was thinking the same thing. It reminded me of my childhood. Grew up in a small house with 4 other siblings. We played outside all summer long. Never really anywhere to go, just entertained ourselves while my mom did house chores. Those were good days. :)

@@bshows14 that’s great to hear! We live in the country with our 5 kids (15-6) and they log a lot of time outside. I hope that’s how my kids remember their childhood.

If you want to clarify that lard, there are a few techniques that they used to use. Either, heat up the oil and add one sliced potato, and let that heat until there are no more bubbles, and the bits will stick to the potato. The other option is to boil the lard with some water, then let it sit in a container till cool. Remove from the container, and most of the bits are on the bottom section of lard where it touches the water. You can scrape off that layer, and your lard is cleaner than before :) just in case… depending on how long you want to save/use the leftover lard.

I used to be a cheesemaker for a small-scale raw milk dairy. We always boiled the cheese cloth. You can run them through the washer but that also tends to build up soap scum. Boiling is a great method and we sometimes added baking soda.
