I just do it the dumb cowboy way and just raid them, grab one quick then jetpack up vertically to the nearest ledge lol xDD

Faster, but possibly less safe way: crack one egg on one side of the building, they’ll spawn, so jet up and over to the other side of the building. You can usually grab 4-5 on the other side before they come find you. When they find you, head to the roof. They usually go away in 30-45 sec after that. I did this without any shield mods and never died. Hundreds of eggs now. Super fast.

Henrique Assme faster to go to another planet and use your exocraft scanner for abandoned structures, so a few planet and then check on the first one, that way you won’t just wait for the respawn time

I found that making a small cave with a slanted floor under the larva cores with the deep end under the building will help with a few issues. If you make a relatively flat surface the cores will roll toward you. It also deals with the fact that when the horrors first appear they can end up next to you even if you are underground. They spawn next to where the core drops so if you are close you will get clobbered. By being farther back and letting the cores roll the horrors will go back above ground and not attack. Another trick I found that works well is that instead of making a single hole per plant make a trench all the way around the building. For me, it takes the terrain manipulator 3 refills to complete. By doing it one at a time with a decent cave can take 2 refills so the cost of a complete underground trench is not that much more expensive. This way you can farm your cores all in one shot instead of waiting for the horrors to subside each time. You can save a lot of time this way. Especially if you come back after the respawn as you literally just run in a circle shooting down the eggs and scooping them up.

I build walls around each nest, then once I'm done doing that I jump on top of the building, shoot one egg. When the Biological Horrors pop up I run the the other side, jetpack into each box until I've collected all the eggs.

You can make the hole as big as you want, the horrors will not crawl down to get you no matter what. You only need to make it deep enough so that when they first spawn you are lower than their spawn point, but they only crawl up from there and do not come back down.

I just found a moon that spawns these things all over the place. There's no other life or anything, but there's ancient Bones, whispering eggs, copper, and silver. Great nanite and unit farming moon though!

Each time I see these on an dead moon or like, I never get them. They roll away and unless I jump on a rock or in my ship, I be ded. The hole trick..I hope I can get it to work AND pick them up in time. That egg despawn is hard. I wish they desawned when the swarm did.

@@lilymcallister9751 I lucked out with my moon. It has very little gravity so I can power jump with the jetpack far enough away that they can't get me. Those little bastards can be super annoying though. Took me a little while to get my aim down before they almost killed me, but you'll get it sorted out. Good luck!

Also worth mentioning is that lifeless and low atmosphere planets are littered with these it’s way faster but do if you have S class shield and movement upgrades otherwise the monsters mess you up

I just build 4 wooden walls around the eggs, (have to claim base first too) I stand on top of one of the walls then mine the eggs. Sometimes they come up inside the box but they always run out after a second or 2 then you can safely get the rest of them hassle free. Once or twice they’ve come back in but it’s extremely rare. The last time I did this they didn’t even attack me.

This certainly looks like a safer way than I farm Whispering Eggs. I've got over 10k nanites on permadeath from Larval Cores. It made me pretty tense when I didn't have shield upgrades getting a lot of them. Now I have a couple shield upgrades but I still need movement upgrades to get to the roof and not have an empty jetpack.

I think that's a good start, but if they created different feeding materials for the different types of animals, like salts for toxic animal life, ect. And those animals gave you more than just pooprite ( coprite ) they would give you certain elements depending on size and origin planet. That way there is a reason to have pets or even your own farm

I have a faster way, melee the egg a couple of times then quickly pick up the core, then jet pack over to the other side of building and harvest as many more as you can because one the creatures pop out in one spot they won't pop up on the other side. When they do finally find you just jetpack up to the roof and wait for them to go underground

In the newer updates, it appears that the eggs have stopped respawning. I'm running some permadeath saves in Experimental and I am seeing two bugs - one is that the eggs aren't respawning and the other is that my extra ships aren't going to my freighter (lost a class S hauler and a class A Exploration ship). I expect egg respawn might be something that stays the same, but the lost ships issue will not be sticking.

I just found a planet where they spawn that was Barren enough to see maybe 150u and melee jet pack to one, pick it up jet pack away fast to the next, you have no holes to dig, don’t have to wait for eggs to respawn or for a swarm to subside

Just make a base and enclose the eggs with walls and the biological horrors wont get you, and since the eggs can respawn you will always find your way back as a bonus. You could even make a portal there.

Really wish there was a plant that grew them so we can just grow the hell out of them on our base. If you can get like 10 of them its a great source of money & you can refine them into nanite clusters. Its like 300 or 400 nanite clusters per every 10 larval cores. I get allot more nanites this way vs exploring & providing milestone data on the Anomoly

Related but only if you have a nexus or reg mission to kill the terrors and dont care about the cores. I saw a trick where you have a building WITH A BARRIER (like a walkway), you can just get behind the barrier, mine one egg, let them swarm, kill them, mine another..rinse..repeat. I was able to kill 25 in one go. They can't seem to find you even a foot away if you're behind that barrier. Verified 2 days ago. Weird but true. If you jump on top of the building or inside, you lose precious seconds and you can't always get all of them. Being up close..boom. just move to the barrier nearest to the nest. I never tried to get the cores..it did give me a walker brain from the nexus though.

sometimes they will spawn inside but they just get pushed out of the box and they cant hit you. I tried the hole method yesterday, but I think I still prefer the box. plus you have the base computer there to mark the location as well

The box method is also very safe. Only rarely will they get inside, and that can mostly be attributed to sloppy building at speed. Regardless, this seems to be the more pain-free and simplistic setup by a long shot. I'm a newly converted former box fan.

I prefer the roof. you can jump down quickly. very little time though and you can get knocked into the building getting stuck.

Just hit those base missions! I did them after finishing the Artemis questline. Just blasted through them since I had most of the materials needed just sitting in my inventory

I found a faster way. I select a egg nest that is towards the center of the side of the building (not towards the ends). I stand on the ground right next to the nest and shoot one egg, grab the larval core and jet up to the roof. Then I jump down onto the ground on the other side of the building. The Horrors back on the other side I came from can't find me and stay on the side of the building they spawned on. Then I start shooting all the other eggs starting again in the middle of the building and working towards the nests on the ends of the building. For some reason only some of the eggs (after that first one on the other side) will spawn only a single Horror. Some won't spawn any. When a Horror does spawn, it's easy to deal with and keep on harvesting eggs. I walk backwards shooting the Horror as I walk. Once the side and ends are done I usually have about six eggs on the original side. The original Horrors usually are starting to crawl back in the ground (despawn), and I polish off the remainders. Those last six eggs, I just shoot, grab, jet up on the roof. No building walls, no holes. It takes a few times to get the process and timing down, but then it goes really fast. Larval cores are 1/50 nanites! Best in the game. I find that some planets have a lot of Abandoned Buildings which are the stations with the eggs. Just flying low and slow over one of these planets, I can make 20k-50k in nanites in a short time, and it's fun!

I would be afraid that they would still come up through a base floor. I have seen some sentinels glitch into bases. Do they still have a small chance to get inside the walls after you build them?

jason you dont need to build a whole base just put a base computer so you can put walls ...then put 4 wooden walls around one place of eggs ...then shoot another group of eggs so the horrors pop from the ground of the eggs far from the group of eggs that you circle it with walls ....jump over the walls collect the eggs then remove the walls and put them on another group of eggs and repeat.....i hope you could understand me ....try it

For those that want to farm this AND have 6x S-class Shield mods installed on ur character, there's a glitch. Make sure your ship is parked really close to an egg patch. Loot 1 egg and jump into your ship. Wait a couple secs and get out. IF the monsters attack, immediately jump back into your ship... Repeat until the monsters glitch and just run around passively allowing you to harvest the eggs un-bothered. HOWEVER... don't run around too far too quickly, I found that if you move too far from a passive monster they re-aggro. The reason I mentioned 6x shield mods is because I play perma-death only and you will need to be able to tank a couple hits. If you have only 3 you can take less shots and a higher chance of dying. Also, you may see that 1 hit is barely anything, but remember, they spawn in groups and their attack cycle is pretty fast, so your shields will take a quick beating. IF for some reason they aren't losing aggro and your shields are about to collapse... reload game and restart the dance. Hope this helps..... and yes it still works as of now.

Also great place to do your kill animal quests. you can kill all you see then they all respawn again when you do another egg. The scatter blaster modded up works well. I one shot these guys.

lately, not sure why, and I know this is an old ass vid, I never have to dig that deep, but for whatever reason just simply going under the nest when they first spawn bugs them the fuck out and they can't get me. And I mean I will run around right next to and infront of them and they don't try to attack me but then they chase me when I get in my ship (though they don't attack my ship cause they kinda can't)

I do the chad / lazy way of farming it. i run around and crack every egg, grab all of them, and just RUN to the next spot, grab all the eggs again, run around, grab the eggs, and jump into my ship.

bluidguy I started playing 2 weeks ago and that is what I have been doing. Once the horrors appear you can pick up eggs from the other nests if they are walled off. Switching to 1st person mode makes it easier to find them.

This isn't the fastest way... If you are fully kitted out you litterally run in circles around the building taking one egg and then moving on... It keeps the monsters chasing you and I can collect all of the eggs in about 3 laps of the building and I've gotten upto 22 eggs in about 2 min flat!

I'm fully tanked I just blast 4 eggs at a time, jetpack out and play bowling with the horrors with my plasma launcher. Only thing that's ever gotten me was lag. I've never timed it but the biggest haul yet was 84 cores.

Phil LeMusclay alias le bucheron canadien Take your terrain modifier. Dig a shallow angled hole under the nest starting from just in front. Do this for each nest around the building. Go down the hole and zap the first egg. The horrors will spawn and sometimes one will spawn in the hole with you and take a nip. But that’s it. The egg will roll down to the bottom and you can pick it up. Clear the nest and then jetpack to the next hole. You can even stand half in half out the hole and they won’t attack you.
