Horses that are known KICKERS Must Wear a RED Ribbon in their Tail.
Horses that have Not been on an Event Before Must wear a GREEN Ribbon
A YELLOW ribbon means CAUTION the horse may be ridden by a Para Rider or the horse might be a stallion.
Traditionally BLUE is for stallions.

I reached that stage 35 years ago, with a mare who had been my companion since I helped deliver her. We spent several more years with the neighbors getting used to seeing me walk my unusually large 'dog.' I still don't think I needed the lead, but it calmed strangers. And I think she was happy with the fact that, even if I couldn't ride (neither of us was physically capable), she was still following the same routes she had carried me on for years and that I wasn't riding on a new horse. May Ruby enjoy many more years of companionship!

Minus the egregious kick, Farouk clearly loved everything about this ride: the adventure, the excitement of what was coming next, the getting momentarily lost, ducking into tree caves. You’ve had him through so many environments, Tara, that little seems to phase him now. That brilliant, effortless jump over the ditch, piggies (poor piggies indeed 😥), and two white things in the field barely merited a side-eye glance. Ready for anything and everything, our mature Farouk! 🐴😘❤️

He is doing so well. He has trotted past white flowers and gates and cars with ease and seems to have recovered from that kicker and its horrible rider. Loved the way he looked around when you said we're lost! "Mum, for goodness sake, you've got a phone with the route on it" He is wonderful, the spooky wood didn't bother him. This is turning out to be quite eventful, Farouk has aced it, I love the way he is so confident in himself and you, he never tries to follow other horses or be content to stay with a group, he is a leader horse in his own right and your partnership with him has grown into something beautiful, he just seems to know what you want before you’ve asked, he is alert looking round to see what’s going on but no where near as jumpy as he used to be, with age has come maturity and expetience and understanding between you. A horse in a million is beautiful Farouk.

Loves this! So there was a trail you and Farouk were on in which you had to cross a small stream and Farouk wasn’t happy about it but you did get him over it. You were out with your brother Steve who was on Apollo (who took it like a champ). It was probably a year or two ago and I remember a small white cottage was right by the stream. Anyway, Farouk may have learned from that because he was quite courageous this time around! Speaking of running man - how is he doing? We haven’t seen much of him lately!! Wishing him well!

Farouk has grown into a wonderful trail horse. He seems to be confident and not worried about anything from getting kicked by another horse (recovered very quickly), to ditches to jump over, to pigs, to strange trails through the trees. The white patches here and there don't even scare him now. You must be so proud of him. You've done a superb job and he has over come that early training he got which speaks volumes about his intelligence & character too. Great ride Tara even if the trail seemed to "come and go"! Is it my imagination or does Farouk really enjoy travelling on paths that are new to him? I love his Arabian enthusiasm for "something new" and maybe a chance for a good run. Thanks to the internet I've been able to watch some amazing rides out on the desert in Egypt and other dry areas around the Mediterranean Sea and the connection between Arabians and the lands they were bred to cross is amazing. Even with high levels of heat and dust, good riders and poor ones, the horses just seem to love stretching out for a good long run over sand, gravel, rocks and hard packed desert. One amazing ride occured when one young and fairly inexperienced rider was "unhorsed" and an experienced rider had to go after the "run-away" horse that ran on for mile after mile. It appeared that they probably covered 20+ kilometers 'flat out' before the rider was able to catch up to the riderless horse. Luckily the riders were followed by a horse van so that when they finally caught the loose horse, one young boy was able to get on the horse and 'cool it out' before loading it into the van and heading for home. These rides across the desert are amazing to watch although I always feel disappointed that the rides are for "men and boys only".

I have only trusted one horse to ride alone. My gentle “big dog”, Erode, a retired race horse who had a care-giver heart. I knew what he was when I met him because I re-trained horses off the track. I also trained green jumpers and re-trained horses for people who got them into bad habits for many years. Erode didn’t want to be a jumper, he just wanted to enjoy his retirement from the track. He was loved by his prior owners, no whip marks, etc., so I purchased him at 7. He was a winner until the day he decided he didn’t want to race anymore. He took care of my young children when on his back and they messed up. Such a gentleman! He never kicked, bit, shied, ran off, or bucked. He never did anything shady. Gave him my best. But, I know of people who got into trouble riding alone with no one to go for help. We don’t have any good boarding in Indiana, and my back was giving me fits, so I finally had to sell him. A woman who had a friend with a barn who wanted just to ride for the joy once or twice a week. They were perfect for each other so I sold Erode at a loss. I love you videos! My back is better with lots of chiro and stretching treatments and my grand daughter loves horses, so I’m looking to get a trained mustang. We moved to acreage so no boarding. My training days are over because of my age and back issues but I would like to ride the trails around here for the joy. TOO many horse owners don’t know what they’re doing and think a helmet will keep them safe. I know from experience that helmets crack and head injuries still occur! I’ve seen broken pelvises and legs. You’re not getting back to the stable that way! If you don’t have a mentally stable horse, they will run off, leaving you to suffer alone!! Always tell someone where you are going and when you will be back.

This ride seems rather tricky in finding your way around. Farouk seems to be enjoying it, even after the kick.

It looks more like an orienteering course than an organised ride. Farouk did very well and the ditch jump was very good. I think he thought I better be gentle at this ditch I don’t want to throw mum like I did the other year it scared mum and me 🐎🐎🐎

Do you plan a route for your horses 🐎 each day because you get to see the countryside plus other animals such as sheep and cows How much exercise does a horse need everyday? Here are some carrots and apples for your horses 🐎🍎🍎🍎🍎🍎🍎🍎🍎🍎🍎🥕🥕🥕🥕🥕🥕🥕🥕🥕🥕

How do you know that in those grassy areas there wouldn't be any kind of a hole dug by an animal that your horse would step in?

@@Tara101 in the United States where I live we have a variety of digging animals. Dogs dig holes we have woodchucks and skunks, raccoons. I don't know what you have in the UK that might dig holes.
