Soooooo fun hearing what you resonated with in the book Jackie! You got it! Everyone needs to find their own fasting path and women need to consider their hormones when they build a fasting lifestyle. Thanks for this thorough review!! Enjoy fasting to your cycle, it will be a fun variation for you. Hugs- Dr. Mindy 🥰

I started going through perimenopause at 34 BECAUSE of IF after about 2.5 years. Nothing beyond 12. So pretty minimal IMHO. When I noticed the progesterone deficiency (I learned from your book!) I panicked and although IF changed my life, I stopped. I went into a horrible depression. Then I found your book!! Your book was so important to me getting back to a thriving life. Thank you so much, Dr Mindy. I did absolutely have to point out that I didn't start to feel the hormonal imbalance until 2.5 years.

I just found your channel tonight! Subscribed! Girl, wait until you hit menopause. When I retired from the military in the spring of 2009 at the age of 47, I weighed 190 from the last 8 years of my career being bad eating habits, no sleep, and high stress. After retirement I automatically went back to my natural eating habit of OMAD/eating only when I was hungry and not eating past 7pm, I also started getting regular sleep (no more shift work, although I am still a night owl), I dropped from 190 to 160/165. I am disabled, so any kind of working out anymore cannot be done. I maintained that weight, and continued OMAD for 9 years. Menopause hit me hard right on my 50th birthday, but the OMAD was still working fine and my weight was constantly at 160/165. Suddenly the fall of 2018 at the age of 56, out of nowhere, I gained 5 lbs in August, another 5 lbs in September, and another 5 lbs in October. Within 3 months I weighed 180 without doing anything differently from the previous 9 years. It was like the body snatchers or something. OMAD no longer worked, so I panicked. I tried eating several small meals, weight still crept on. I tried Kachava meal replacement, the weight still crept on. I tried a version of OMAD, but hate feeling hungry when I get up, so I snacked a little an hour before bed. Weight crept on. I was also starting to get heartburn several times a day, and eating an antacid each time to put the fire out. For the first time in my life, my body was out of control, and everything I tried was only making it worse, and I was running out of ideas. A week ago, I weighed 195. I was devastated. To give you an idea, just before my 30th birthday, I weight 201 the day before I had my son (my third child) who weighed 9 lbs and was 24" long. I looked into pills, I looked into programs that cost thousands of dollars (that I can't afford), and I about lost hope. I came across an ad on FB about intermittent fasting, and looked into that since that's pretty much what I did for years, while people harped on me "you know, that's not good for you".. I saw that I was right when I was listening to my body. But that was before the decade of dealing with menopause, and having the weight slowly packing on since 2018 when I became post-menopausal. One of the groups I had joined had mentioned Dr Mindy. I decided to watch her videos, and just bought Fasting Like A Girl, and The Menopause Reset books. While I'm gathering this information over the last 6 days, I decided after a couple of days of watching her information to try an 18:6 daily fast while I get the information about what might work for me, being 61 and post-menopausal. I decided to weigh myself a couple of days ago, fully expecting to have gained yet more weight, and actually found that after being on the 18:6 for 4 days, I had lost 5 lbs. I also notice the heartburn frequency has diminished a lot. I also drink only Dyln Alkaline water. I think I'll try the 5-1-1 and see how that goes. Dr. Mindy reminded me that I wasn't wrong with listening to my body in how I used to eat... and that now it's not my imagination that I still can, but I have to adjust because of being post-menopausal. There is hope.

I love Dr. Mindy! She and Dr. Jason Fung are what got me to start fasting almost two years ago. I’ve learned so much through them and Dr. Eric Berg as well. They share great knowledge that you can try out for yourself and see if it works for you. I definitely feel and look better than I used to. It’s been a great journey which I will continue to do. Merry Christmas to all! ⭐️ 🌲 🙏🏻 And thank you Jackie for all you share.

Dr Mindy has been my "way in" to IF. I'm 65, already lost 40 lbs doing primarily starches over the last 2 years, but during that time my weight loss completely stalled plus I developed SIBO which was excruciatingly painful. Intuitively my body was telling me I needed to change it up. I discovered Dr. Mindy after a friend told me about IF - so far its been 7 weeks of IF (18/6) and I'm loving it! 6 lbs down with a bunch more to go, but honestly, IF was easy to start and follow day to day. Really enjoying your videos and your enthusiasm! ☺

I love Dr. Mindy, she has this contagious positive energy that encourages. I couldn’t wait to receive her book because I’ve long been aware of my monthly cycle and how it effects all aspects of my life. I did receive the book for Christmas and promptly started incorporating the cycle friendly fasting tips for the luteal phase of my cycle (after ovulation). I wish I could say it was an amazing experience for me, but somehow It ended up derailing my omad fasting cycle. I started craving and having issues staying on track. I ended up gaining 10 lbs that I’d lost and had a hard time getting back on track. Maybe I didn’t do it correctly, but I’ve decided to not try again with eating more or extending my window during the luteal phase. It’s OMAD for me everyday- I need the continuity. I will however try to eat more of the foods she recommends for supporting progesterone during the last part of my cycle. All the love in the world for Dr. Mindy, but I’m sticking with OMAD everyday.

Thanks for your honest and insightful review. I am not familiar with Dr Mindy, but I frequently read and reread all other authors you mention. I started IF with Gin in 2017 and I today am in her personal group. I love how you constantly refer to her books. I’m going to read this book. Thanks for being so open minded and recognizing that there is no one-size-fits-all approach. Thanks for your videos- I absolutely ❤️ them!

One of Dr Mindys videos to the next led me to you. I want to look into this subject because I have been doing keto and IF for over 3 years and I am starting to gain some weight back. I am not young anymore and figured there has to be a catch. I’ve helped my son lose 120 pounds and he’s kept it off. Hmmmm🤔 I can’t let all my hard work and knowledge go down the drain. I have to try a new approach and it is probably in my timing.

So I copy this note a women group post her fasting everyday various time and I lost a lot of weight just by tricking my body everyday Here what she wrote I do not necessarily do 23:1 I did plenty of research before even starting one meal a day I learned that it is wise for you to switch up your protocol so your body does not adapt to a certain routine so I never have the same eating time I switch it up daily. No restrictions I eat the meal of my choice of foods that I love started my journey January 11th to be exact Monday-24 hrs Tuesday- 19 hrs Wednesday- 24 hrs Thursday- 18 hrs Friday-22 hrs Saturday- 19 hrs Sunday: 23 hrs From me doing this I am 156 before I did this I was 170 my goal weight is 140 I am almost there don’t give up
