The 599 GTO is only the 3rd Ferrari production car to wear the GTO badge, and it definitely lives up to the name! The GTO is loud, raw, and unrefined. It has SO much character and has one of the most distinct driving characteristics in the entire collection. When it was launched, the 599 GTO even broke the lap record at Ferrari's test track, Fiorano, beating out Ferrari's halo car, the Enzo!

I don't know if you know this, but in the 599 GTO, if you pull the downshift pedal for a second and wait to downshift while driving, it automatically downshifts 2 gears in a row. I saw this in Chris Harris' review when this machine was just introduced. I can't try this as I don't have a gto😅

Any GTO Ferrari immediately grabs attention. I remember Jeremy Clarkson saying the 599 GTO was so fast it scared him. Strangely enough the 288 Gto was for me by far one of the most beautiful cars ever made. You must get yourself one. As for the 250 Gto let's just say the price tag is way to high to have fun in although I think it was a awesome looking car and I think they were extremely fun to drive. Ever had the opportunity to drive the 288 or the 250?

I have driven a 288! It is a little before my time so I don’t quite have the same appreciation as others. I know one or two 250s that get driven and that makes me incredibly happy!! Love your perspective on them!

It has never been faster, the Enzo continues to be faster, the difference is in the tires, there have been several fast laps even from customers in Fiorano with Enzo using modern tires and the 599 GTO is not even close!! I love the GTO but it was never the fastest at Fiorano!

When the car was released, in completely stock form, the GTO set a lap faster than the Enzo. Of course technology improves, that’s why almost all new Ferrari’s are quicker around Fiorano than the Enzo.
