@RWBHere
@RWBHere 5 жыл бұрын
The motor has a short and merry life! But every record-breaking vehicle has its power source pushed to the limits. Motor power rating is usually decided based upon temperatures, efficiency and life expectancy. 1900 Watts is really only a safe guideline proposed by the manufacturer. At three times full rated power, things will break quite quickly, and power efficiency will be low, mainly producing more heat rather than more thrust. It's the laws of Physics. Nicely flown though! Faster than a Bugatti Veyron.

Yeah boi :-) Around 300a depending on the pack :-)..funnily enough, the 3k mah Graphenes give more amps (300a) with a low voltage (18v), but the 4k mah Graphene gives 270-280a at a higher voltage (19v)...strange seeing the lower amps coming from the bigger pack...but voltage = rpm, so the 4k mah wins anyway..:-)

@OMEGOOLIEBIRD
@OMEGOOLIEBIRD 5 жыл бұрын
Thanks! But the physics of flying a circle via FPV at 300mph are bonkers, you would be looking at the sky for half the loop, and by the time you saw the ground, the latency in control and video would mean that you were already about to start the next lap before the control input even affected the plane! It would be impossible!

Hi, I got it from EBAY. It is 40x40x11mm multi finned. You must sand the base flat on a piece of glass with fine paper, also with the FET's on the ESC too, so the surfaces mate very closely together. It will transfer heat much better this way. I used a VERY thin layer of 2 part thermal epoxy to stick it on www.ebay.co.uk/itm/151826112844?hash=item23598aa14c:g:sHQAAOSwBMpcSb2D

@@OMEGOOLIEBIRD With little to see when the thing rips past, sound conveys the speed. Who doesn't love that sound - want more! I've a couple of shotgun mics and a sound devices recorder which I used to record the cars in a local rally. The shotgun picks up the sound from a mile out - but I needed to ride the volume to avoid it peaking. A Neumann studio mic may not be the right tool for the job - better for close vocals. Bird sound recording....thats a better guide to equipment for distant / ambient sound recording. Maybe you will come across someone who can attend to that / already tooled up, while you focus on ripping. There's also the hand held recorder jobs with auto gain control.....they can do a decent job as they hunt for sound but reduce the volume to stop peaking. I'm 10 years out of touch with current models. Afterthought - if you have a Neumann mic the words "sucking eggs" and "teaching" may apply. If so apologies. Anyway, just a thought. Keep up the good work.

Would it be fair to say that its not pulling 300A in the air as it is on the ground? just curious...

Almost definitely less than 300 in the air. The battery only sustains 300 for a very short time anyway. But the prop RPM actually goes down when the plane starts to move and the prop grips the air rather than running stalled, so there may be a spike at that point. I do not run anything that is not critical to flying, so no current sensor, no FC etc as it is less to go wrong... I am running the biggest battery I am comfortably landing with and running that battery as high output as it can cope with without catching fire, so current measurements are purely academic at this point.

This is amazing! I wonder why you chose a pusher propeller instead of a ducted fan? A ducted fan would allow even higher speeds right?
