Agreed but also Jill's need to do that was super dumb. Sometimes just go with someones plan instead of needing to do your own thing. Jill/veo made Pluto and Sebastian lose 20hp, lower max HP by 20, and disadvantage on all ability checks (the exhaustion) for literally no reason than she didn't want to play cards.

@@chrisg8989 i don't understand this train of thought. Sebastian was using card skills which he has in game proficiency with. The trick veo used to win is from some Jill had heard somewhere irl and not anything in game so she specifically asked to do drinking which isn't something her character ever does often and there had never been something like the trick she used in the game so id say that's way closer to meta gaming (using real world knowledge instead of in character stuff). It's nice that her trick worked but it put everyone behind and saying that isn't meta as there's no way they would a thought she would harm them if they just went with the card game.

Its not a bed for money or something relativley trivial, its your soul and being eaten, pushing for that when the other players arent cool with it isnt cool and very 'main charachter/that guy' behaviour. Now, everyone makes mistakes, thats fine, its a game afterall, but kelly was dead wrong this episode. Though i feel like part of it is the remote play and if they were next too each other heds have backed down.

That was such a Sebastian thing to say he didn't gamble with his friends' souls because he got away with it after literally just gambling with them out of cocksure confidence. 😅 Nice Princess Bride convo too, Monty. 👍 (As well as tailoring so well a combat to undo Veo's usual Round 1 shenanigans :p What a lethal opponent... 😱) And that was impressive of Jill to remember a surefire bar bet trick in the spot when Veo's soul was on the line! 👏 I would have been as confused as Pluto in this situation.

I loved the modification to the marilith (I only know it was modified because it is one of my favorite high level monsters and I've used it more than a few times) I'm definitely stealing that redirect attack with the parry! Bravo Monty!

Also a Marilith can't roll a 25 INT saving throw. Its max is a 24. It also can't get a 30 on a WIS saving throw. Its max is a 28. Lastly parry only works on melee attacks.

@@MageLeaderInc I'm a strong believer in the idea that a DM can modify any monster, both to nerf and to buff it, as well as just adding things that you think are thematically appropriate. The monster manual encourages this, and many modules make extensive use of this so you can't even say that it isn't intended. Monsters in the MM VGM MTF etc. Are templates describing what a typical creature might look like, not a hard and fast "this is the exact stats and abilities for every monster of this type". It's a tool in the DM toolbox, not a constraint to only using monsters exactly as they appear

@@timjerrom7173 if you want to watch all, the order is dungeons -> shadows -> fate Untold tales are kinda spin-off guest-star episodes and are not necessary. They get little references here and there, but ifs not efficient from a catch up perspective. So you have 2 general options I can think of: Commitment: watch ALL of dungeons, then shadows, then fate. Pros: no waiting for weekly episodes. Cons: takes >>100hrs of time, you might get spoiled halfway through, can’t watch live streams Speed: a combination of skimming and watching dungeons and shadows, then jump into fate live. Optionally you can keep going with dungeons and shadows whenever you’re caught up to live. Pros: can watch live, it’s a faster method to get to current sessions. Cons: confusing watching past and present at the same time, skimming isn’t as rewarding as watching fully, plot points will be revealed less dramatically. You can also just skip large chunks of either, but the plot is a bit intricate and both parties are set up to be main characters, so there’s significant downside. It’s only uphill from there in dungeons! It just keeps building and building in epicness. Have fun! :))))

Wow, Kelly's character has a strong Main Character syndrome coming off him here. He gets to dictate what the others do in a game for their souls - with no quibbling from them? At 1:05:00 I've got to be honest, Sebastian is becoming very unsympathetic for me at the moment. His arrogance and carelessness with others are really starting to grate on me. No shade on Kelly though! I like the way he roleplays. He just happens to be playing a character that at the moment leans into stuff (like letting his successes and skills getting to his head at the expense of his friends) that is a big red button for me. Have not watched the rest of the episode yet. So I'll see if Sebastian will get his reality check. (Though hopefully through an intervention by Pluto & Veo and not because of something tragic... :S) Anyway thanks for the fantastic story you all are telling! And I hope you take my grumping for what it is: Emotional investment in your characters and world, and the gripping story around them.

I think they all roleplay their characters really well. Sebastian is so different from Wilhelm, who would never pull a stunt like that. But - though it was also painful for me to watch and I wanted Pluto to pull out Ignatius and start swinging - it's definitely in-character for Sebastian.

Kelly, Kelly, Kelly… One small detail. You don’t count cards in poker. Poker is a game of deception between the players. Cheating is accomplished by stacking the deck in your favor or having hidden cards. You count cards in blackjack, which is determined by the value of the cards in the deck. The count determines the probability of getting a good deal. I don’t want to be pedantic, but math nerd. 🤓
