12 years ago, a young mother of three, Zahra Abrahimzadeh, had her life taken away from her, by her own husband. The crime played out at a public venue in South Australia, in front of 300 people, including her own daughter. Her children said that they had warned police something horrific could happen. But nothing was done. In this powerful report, Zahra's children speak with Alex Cullen, as they prepare to witness their father be sentenced to life in prison. This story was broadcast on 26 August, 2012. Just days after that life sentence was handed down.

Yet in the courtroom the victims are expected to have good lawyers to win the case against the abuser who WILL have a good lawyer since he will control the money, unlike the victim who will only have a court appointed 1st year lawyer. This is why the abuser wins with his attorneys. Do you take cases for abusers? bc if you do, you're part of the problem.

The absolute audacity of that bastard to call himself a victim is nauseating. What he saw as someone trying to destroy his life , was actually the fact that he felt like humiliation because his wife left him , he didn't care that she was afraid, didn't care to hurt her or his kids, no , he only cared about what other ppl would think. These men from that region of the world are always bent up about "Honor " , to the point that they'll literally kill wives , children and anyone else in order to satisfy their imaginary slights . The whole thing is ridiculous. Is there honor in throwing your life away and rotting in a prison cell ??? Like , yeah I killed my wife for dishonorable conduct, but now that I'm in prison, alone and all my children hate me. I've got honor out the wazoo. Its like cutting of your nose to spite your face. This was, (and still is), my mom. She was a personable, educated, well-mannered fashion plate to those who didn't live under her roof. I've been recently thinking about the mental, emotional, and physical abuse I suffered as a child. Could my friends tell? Could the teachers tell? My mom worked for the school and was doted on by the nuns who taught us. I was an unaware anorexic starting around age 7 (I still suffer with the disorder at times). I suffered from debilitating panic attacks where I'd hide in the school's bathroom. No one offered to help me. No one even acknowledged the odd behavior till I had a psych break at age 11. Sometimes I'm impressed with what my mind, heart, and soul dealt with but continued to endure and even thrive a little bit. I'm 42, I have no children, never been married, and have trouble making and maintaining friendships. I'm almost 3 yrs sober and doing well. My mom is 81 and I see her almost everyday to take out her trash and listen to her trash me. C'est la vie. (Damn, I needed to vent)

Once, I was moved away.. the controlling insecure notch was turnt up to high, Dr Jeckle & Mr Hyde.. The ULTIMATE NARCISSISTS WAS REVEALED TO ME.. His brother said it should be manslaughter, does he even know the difference between manslaughter and murder? It is obvious this was a premeditated calculated act, the whole reason he brought the knife. He was simmering and waiting for the chance to kill her and that's exactly what he did. I understand wanting to defend your family, but she was also your family, the mother of your nephew and niece's. His brother is almost as cowardly as the father. I hate to think how he treats his wife and kids. That behavior is usually a learned thing. Makes me sick to think about. I hope this monster never sees the light of day. As a child survivor of Domestic abuse of a mother who did not walk away, I want everyone to know that staying with an angry, abusive, intimidating, violent husband is NEVER the BEST for the children. I’m so sick of this hero shit narrative around women who cannot leave an abusive relationship where innocent bloody children are scarred for life from their inability to walk away from a deadshit. I’m 60 years old and the stain this has left in the life of myself and 5 other humans, who were innocent and unable to get away, is always there and has poisoned our lives. If you cannot walk away from a dangerous man then get your kids away. Give them to a loving, healthy and safe family until you can get your head right. It takes more courage to walk away then to stay. I’m the hero who picked up my children, pregnant with the third and fled a foreign country with them with one suitcase to get them away from an angry psycho control freak.

As a child & an adult who's still suffering as a result of the domestic violence between them which has made its way to me in a profound negative way in adulthood, I know too well what you mean. Feared abused, neglected & oppressed mothers raise children worse than them in every which way possible unfortunately. By staying not only they put themselves in jeopardy but more so the very children they claim to love, care & protect with their lives 😔 its got nothing to do with religion, gender, culture, age etc but the mindset, personal ideologies & choices parents make when they are raising their children coupled with genetics.

You are 100% correct, but where your mums circumstances the same as yours? Like did she speak the language in the country she was in? Was she educated enough to get up and leave? These are all factors that force women to unfortunately stay and carry on enduring abuse. I used to moan about other things about my mum, but now that I'm older I think, with some things, she just didn't know any better. She wasn't educated she was forced to do house work as a kid, she got married off at 20 and sent to UK where she didn't speak the language and the list goes on. So I get you might be angry because of what you went through, but mum's are only human too.

Restraining orders are fairly useless. I live in Ohio and helped a group of strong fighting women present a bill so that any person with a restraining order against them has to wear a tracking device/ like a gps monitor/ankle bracelet that they have to pay for, so that if they violate it by coming close to contact, the authorities are notified, and they are found and arrested. This was in honor of a woman who was murdered by her ex husband and her daughter nearly got away. He also murdered their horse.
