Dale Watts was characterized by his family as a "hoarder," and they didn't realize how amazing his collection -- dubbed FANTAST by CGC -- was until after he died. He left behind millions of collectibles, including roughly 300,000 comic books and the same number of sports cards. Some of them were extremely valuable, such as the first issue of Batman and the first Superman. Here's the story.
Here's the website: www.sellingsup...

I think it comes down to a level of understanding what this man dealt with. Back then there wasnt as much awareness to being on the spectrum. So now with more attention brought to light about being on the spectrum , there is way more understanding. I would definitely celebrate my father and his struggles and allow others to appreciate what so many have ever seen.

Wow!!! That was a holy grail collection. Sad how it tore his marriage but in the end it made his son wealthy. I loved the way Darren showed off his dad collection for us to see. These stories still get me very excited on how they can change someone life. Great job telling his story Mike.

I would absolutely celebrate my fathers collection. Show the struggles he faced and what the family faced due to his hoarding/quiet and covered collections. Celebrate his fathers life and the accomplishments he made through collecting. I want my children to know all about my collections and be proud of what I love doing!! I really enjoyed this video. This video was sent to me by a collector. I am a new subscriber!! 💙🤙🏻🔥🔥🔥

I inherited a collection from my father as well, just not as elaborate as this. Amazing spiderman first series 4-266, 37 copies of Thor 337, 19 copies of ASM 252, etc. This story hit home. :) Thank you.

Am glad you talked about this on your video. Saw the news when it came out. It was sad to hear how the family was broken due to his collecting and hoarding. In the end, am so happy to hear that the son is sharing his dad’s collection to the world to acquire. This story is powerful. Please look in to the Promise Collection, great story behind the name. It was about two brothers, and also about comic book collection.

No one needs 200 newspapers or 29 shovels...but everyone needs more cards 😊 Hoarding can be bad for all involved. Glad the son was able to do great things with it. Maybe he is doing what his dad maybe always wanted to do, but because of his condition was never able to do so. Mental issues aren't easy for anyone, but most stories have a silver lining. The labels are my favorite part of this story. This collection will live on long after all of us watching now. Another great story/video🇺🇲⚾️✌🏽

Wow I said it once and I'll say it again thank goodness for us hoarders lol. Seems that was his way of leaving a fortune that he wouldn't have been able to do for his family otherwise. All my and my wife's collection goes to our to kids but they know about it and have become collectors as well. Look what his son is doing now a lifetime dream that we all wish we were a part of. Love the story it gives me goosebumps. Share the past when ever you can.

Hello everyone, I just recently started collecting Comic Books love watching these videos hopefully one day will be able to leave a collection for my two daughters to enjoy. it’s not about the value of the book. It’s the chase that a lot of them don’t exist but they’re out there.

@@dancalmpeaceful3903 Most people simply waste their money. In fact, most people wouldn't even know where or how to invest their money. People most certainly do not associate collectibles as investments, but some of them most definitely are investments. Most people will always waste their money. That's just how it is. That's why there's always like a 1% of people who only ever financially succeed.

It's not the collectibles fault that it tore apart a family. It's not just Asperger's that can cause issues. Sports Card addiction is unfortunately like other addictions. It can obviously have financial issues plus affect loved ones. As a collector since 1987, I can relate to the struggle of buying too much stuff. I will be trading and or selling my newer stuff to buy vintage cards.

In most collections, there is a core group of highly valuable items, the remainder being commons. If he had kept the good stuff and sold the commons bulk his life could have been different. Not necessarily better, but different.
@ASMRPeople

If I stumbled upon something like this I'd probably sell most of it. I would probably do it over several years however. I sort of view collectables as relics that belong to the hobby it's self and the collectors whom own them are just stewards of said relics. So if I were to sell a collection like this off over several years I could enjoy the relics for a while & pass them on, plus I'd probably get max value that way.
