@@PhrozenFox That was a dig at Fawkes for initially refusing to help you in the climax of the game when you have to choose to commit suicide by entering the purifier to stop it from going ballistic or saving your life and potentially losing out on a device that could transform the wasteland. The radiation in the chamber is lethal even if you have the usual countermeasures. If you had Fawkes with you and asked him to go in there instead, he tells you "We all have our own destinies, and yours culminates here. I would not rob you of that.". This was later changed in the Broken Steel DLC, allowing the player to send the person that can't die from radiation poisoning to safely defuse the catastrophe instead.

Well, he should speak like that due to the nature of FEV in the East Coast. West Coast mutants have their intelligence unaffected. East Coast mutants have an immediate, mental faculty decline upon their creation, and then continue degenerating with time until they become Behemoths. Case in point, Harry, who is so dumb he can be tricked into thinking you aren’t a prime normal by you just saying you’re a ghoul dressed all snazzy. And him taking a minute to realize he’s supposed to take you to his boss if you tell him you’re a human. Most surviving 1st Gen Mariposa mutants are smart, yes. But that’s solely because the dumb ones got killed off quickly. 2nd Gen mutants are still plenty dumb. I think they, like Fawkes and Uncle Leo, have only two mutants that actually retain their original intelligence out of the whole batch - Frank Horrigan and Melchior.

If you want to argue that it would spread because of the mutants who left, then they would make it sound like shit for the other mutants because it didn't fit with what they wanted to do. Otherwise there's almost no way that Fawkes could hear about Jacobstown unless he got to Nevada; similar to how the Institute only exists on the East Coast, and only predominantly in Boston. You don't hear shit about the Institute in Vegas or California (not yet, anyway.... God forbid Bethesda try to have the Institute be a coast-to-coast organisation)

I searched far and wide for the best advanced radiation suite, took a shit ton of rad away with me and invested in all the rad resistance and endurance possible. Felt bad and reloaded so poor Fawkes wasn't left in his cell.

Actually, that's exactly what it is. If you use tgm (or chug radaway like water on a hot day) and interact with the G.E.C.K, it'll ask if you wanna start it terraforming, which will instantly kill you (or put you in a perma-knockdown state if using tgm). They just want to repurpose it or maybe just parts of it to repair/improve the existing water purification plant.

i remember that vault. i remember making it to the surface entrance only to discover it was fake. and you don’t need fawkes because the edge of the walls aren’t radioactive all the way through the radioactive passages close to the GEK are supposed to either kill you, force you to eat a mountain of radaway, or ask fox. but the barrier that triggers that radiation isn’t perfect. in some spots if you hug the wall they aren’t radioactive making it a lot easier. from the shape of the the damage i’m guessing there’s three damage circles that trigger the radiation leaving 3 tiny triangles of safety on each wall the “entrance” to the vault is supposed to be so radioactive and deadly even with every possible resistance you will die long before you get to it. i spent an hour chugging rad away every second until i finally reached the door only for it to be labeled inaccessible. i used the leftover tad away to discover the first fact.

I know there is (beside fallout 1,2, e and nv) one super in fallout 4 in Far harbor that gained intelligence and now live his own live. There is also a intelligent super mutant in f 76, which you can randomly meet, traveling through Appalachia. He sells goods and act as nice trader. (Strong is dump. Virgil is not typical super mutant)

Till the point of fallout 4 i simply wonder why the BoS doesnt even bother to create more water purifier. After main story the purifier works well, they could either reverse engineer or ask dr li before she leave about the blueprints. Instead soliding their ground they chose to expand their wings thin. It’s not a lack of int on your part rather your interpretation of the line is off, he is considered a mutant by humans yes but due to his ability to form coherent thoughts he is also viewed as a mutant by the super mutants, whom he considers mutants. I have no idea what shadowruns is, but meta human is used by a very large percentage of fiction writers. It's simply a better term for enhanced human over mutant, especially since Marvel copyrighted the term mutant for a while.

Damn that's crazy cause I have the exact opposite opinion. The karma system was awesome and the faction rep of new vegas was boring as hell, and put me off from ever playing the game more than like...twice.

@@mitchgodman Ah yes the deep karmic choices of fallout 3 like nuke a city or defuse the nuke. compare that to how in NV you can choose to nuke the NCR ,the Legion, neither, or both where you get faction rep based on who you nuke and if you nuke both you get rep for the Boomers and the Powder gangers because surprise setting off massive explosions makes people who like massive explosions, like you more. On the other hand, not nuking anyone gives you Followers of the Apocalypse rep because they admire you being peaceful. So you can have actual choices that affect how people will react to you or have Liam Neeson be slightly disappointed in/proud of you, a few regulators/talon company might come after you if you roll it on the random encounter table, and Three Dog will talk about you on the radio. For me the choice is obvious but I'll just say this you need to boot up NV rn and shoot the tumble weeds with shotguns trust me

Man the karma system was hella whack in this game. I remember a random hunter was shooting at the kid who gives you the quest involving fire ants. Kid kept running and couldn't give me the quest. Save the kid but fuck me killing the dude shooting at a child made me lose karma. Way to go Bethesda.
