Xela Redna same! 33 and have always owned a dishwasher but never knew how to use them. Every time I moved to a new place I would try it and the dishes would come out horrible. Bought a kitchen aid dishwasher and I don’t think I’m ever going back to hand washing. I love it. Now I see why people use these things.

IMPORTANT: 1. Once loaded, TWIRL THE WASHING ARM above your lower rack dishes to make sure it has free movement in a complete circle. If a dish or implement is sticking up, it can block the movement of the washing arm and your dishes will not be evenly clean. 2. ALSO: Turn on your sink's HOT WATER and let it run until it is very hot BEFORE you start your dishwasher. Otherwise, your dishes will be washed in cold water, unless your dishwasher has a built-in water heating feature. 3. Use only an ounce or two of dishwasher soap in filler compartment top and under its trap door. Too much soap will overload your dishwasher and bog it down, often causing complete breakdowns. 4. Wash the fine mesh filter(located in bottom of washer tub) frequently. These tips were given to me by a very honest dishwasher repair man. Since I've been using these tips, I have had no dishwasher trouble for years, and my dishes and utensils are always perfectly clean.

Excellent point. If my wife only knew this.. and how to put toilet paper on the right way so it falls forward.
@jennifer86010
@jennifer86010 4 жыл бұрын
@@mrdev5281 1. Don't load any tall items near the silverware baskets since they will block the water to wash the flatware. 2. Always bring the hot water to the dishwasher first by turning the sink faucet to full hot running water until it is as hot as possible. 3. Don't put nearly as much soap in the dishwasher as indicated. Only a table spoon is needed for first cycle and a table spoon for the second cycle. Putting the normal amount of soap in will eventually clog the filter. This does two things: It makes you call a repairman for $100, and it sells more dishwasher soap. 4. One of the main advantages of putting the toilet paper on the spindle so the paper feeds from the top of the roll, not the bottom, is the fact that you can always find the end of the paper, and fold it back a bit for the next use. This allows you to easily grab toilet paper when you stumble into the bathroom out of a sound sleep to perform those nightly pee missions, when you are still mostly asleep, and your eyes are squinting in a blur. During this global pandemic, every roll of toilet paper needs to be set up in the most accessible way.

@jennifer86010
@jennifer86010 3 жыл бұрын
@@vrnvorona Some dishwashers do and others do not heat incoming water. It is always best to run the hot water in your sink until it is at its hottest, then turn the dishwasher on while the sink hot water is still running. Once the dishwasher has accessed the hot water (you can hear it filling in the dishwasher) you can turn off the sink hot water. This ensures hot water will clean your dishes.

@@ginger-bread_man , the remark she made (0:40) that if you prewash (rinse) dishes that the soap has nothing to eat and will eat up your dishes causing them all sorts of harm. That is a really dumb statement, incredibly dumb. The soap gods must be appeased with food particles or will attack your dishes prematurely wearing them out and possibly even crack them? Get real! If that's the case, either she's washing paper plates, whatever she's using as soap is extremely dangerous or she's high. She also says use only "fresh" detergent? Duh, what happens if it's more than a month old? it's in sealed packets and a solid or a dense liquid. It doesn't magically go poof if it's a month old. Now, if it's like 20 years plus years old, maybe. How can you not laugh when she's making a video about how to properly use a dishwasher and recommends hand washing some dishes. I mean, that's the point of having a dishwasher: TO NOT HAVE TO HAND WASH DISHES. Sure, delicate stuff. Another video she shows us how to clean an ice maker. Use only "approved" special ice maker cleaner for the job. What do you want to bet that "approved" special ice maker cleaner is just vinegar and water sold for an astronomical price? The real kicker of this video is saying don't pre rinse the dishes or the soap will know and ruin your dishes. If that thing runs for three hours, it doesn't matter whether or not you rinsed the dishes or not. That soaps in there. If you don't prewash your dishes and have big particles on them, you get the pleasure of cleaning out a catch all basket way in the bottom. I wouldn't have even commented anything about her videos if she didn't try to snow ball people with that selective dish washer soap story.

That is absolutely the dumbest idea I've heard. Your food is used to scrub your dishes? Get real. Then it goes down the drain where there is supposed to be a grinder that pulverizes them so that they don't stop up the drain. Good luck with that. Finally, after the dishes have gone through all of the cycles and are dry and ready to put up. Smell the inside of the glasses. That smell is last nights dinner.

The comment Kim A. made was how they've been "schooled" because the video says you don't need to rinse your dishes while they always rinse their dishes. Implying they now know that they don't need to do it. Bill Cherry disagrees with that and is stating all the reasons you should still rinse your dishes off, which I agree with. Unless you have a really good dishwasher it's not going to work all that well. Even if you have a really good dishwasher you will end up having to clean the food trap pretty regularly and doing a clean cycle just to make sure it's all clean after that. On top of that your drain pipe will eventually need to be cleaned because of all the food going through it

Soap going bad is the dumbest shit I heard all year, and it's November.
@jordanyoung9301
@jordanyoung9301 2 жыл бұрын
@@evilmarc At first thought it may seem silly to think of soap possibly going bad. If it's sealed in something it will be perfectly fine for several lifetimes, but if not sealed and air tight(which some resealable bags they come in aren't all that great at times), soap can get mold growing on it. There are reports of dish pods going bad when they get brown spots showing in them. Same thing can happen to bar soap after a long while. And i mean a very long time. Dish powder may not grow mold because it's so dry, but it does expire after a year or two, which would cause diminishing results in it's cleaning performance. I think the soap comment was helpful. It's just another step to the troubleshooting if people are having trouble with their dishwashers.

As far as putting dishes with food still on them in the dishwasher...Many years ago, a Plumber advised me that the worse thing to put in the disposer is FOOD. The disposer is meant for tiny bits of food and not large table scraps. For instance, if one puts a potato in the disposer, the disposer will chop it up but your pipes then have an entire potato in them. Over time, this will clog the pipes with FOOD. Dishwasher outputs normally do not even go through the disposer side. Therefore, a lot of food particles will eventually clog the pipes. I know there are filters in the dishwashers. They do block a lot of larger items from going in the pipes but a lot of those food particles break up and go through the filters anyway. All this to say - it is best to scrape the large items off the plates into the garbage. Some stains always need to be rinsed off. Dried egg yolks are not cleaned in the dishwasher. LOL.

THAT IS RIDICULOUS! IN A DISPOSER THAT IS ATTACHED TO A SEWER SYSTEM, ANYTHING GOES INTO DISPOSAL! , EXCEPT BONES, AND VERY FIBROUS ITEMS, LIKE CORN COBS, LARGE GRAPEFRUIT SKINS, ANYTHING PLASTIC, ETC. IF YOU HAVE NO SEWER SYSTEM BECAUSE YOU LIVE IN A VERY RURAL AREA, YOU ARE ADVISED NOT TO USE DISPOSAL EXCEPT FOR MINUTE PIECES OF FOOD THAT MIGHT BE LEFT ON A PLATE! I EVEN TEAR ORANGE AND GRAPEFRUIT PEELS INTO PIECES, AND BANANA SKINS AS WELL. SO YOU CAN PUT ANY FOOD THAT HAS BEEN BROKEN OR TORN INTO SMALL PIECES INTO YOUR DISPOSAL! IF NOT, YOU DO NOT HAVE THE BEST DEVICE FOR DISPOSAL IN YOUR KITCHEN!

Potatoes, specifically skins are bad to run through the disposal. I don't think it has to do with large particles but what happens to the particles when chopped up and mixed with water. Potatoes are extremely starchy and will form a glue that will clog your pipes. My wife did this and I had to take apart the drain and clear the mess once.

I love the one-button push for 1-6 minutes, and the 30 second add or 30 second start. and MOST IMPORTANTLY, I love how you can adjust the power level during cooking. The reviews said it could not be done, but this marked all the other boxes. and happy to say, it does. You’re going to love me after you read my comment/advise. I always put dishwasher powder/liquid not just inside the sealed lockable compartment, but most importantly also outside of it. Logically answer yourself this question, when is the detergent required the most, when the dishes are the dirtiest at the beginning of cycle or halfway through when they are already partially rinsed by just pure water? The answer is Off course when very dirty at the beginning. So I always split my dishwasher powder between sealed compartment and outside, effectively it gives your dishes a prewash. Most dishwasher actually have designated space for this reason, sometimes uncovered, sometimes under the the main flap slotted section. Frankly my “half “ of powder outside is alway bigger then locked “half”. It also has another benefit apart from cleaning your dishes better, it keeps your dishwasher’s drainage pipes clean, that’s because all this greasy stuff from initial wash is dissolved by the powder you’ve put outside of locked compartment and does not stick to the drainage. For this reason I have never ever used any of those heavily advertised “dishwasher cleaners”. You will notice it yourself when cleaning the filter (still have do it regularly, it’s compulsory), it won’t have this whitish gluey coat that is hard to remove. After 20 years of service I have replaced my old dishwasher with new one and guess what? The drainage pipe was so clean that I have not changed, just reconnected it to new machine. Another tip, when you’re installing your dishwasher, connect it to hot water supply pipe instead of cold. Don’t bother with all in one tablets or pods, always use dedicated powder/liquid and separate rinse aid. By the way rinse aid really makes the difference ton achieve spotless dry dishes. P.S. obviously I am a dishwasher freak.

Dishwasher loading beliefs are like all the Faiths on this planet. People have strong beliefs and theirs is always right!! However i did learn some things from your video and some other videos and cleaned my wash arms as the dispenser was found open a clumped portion of soap and the dishes not washed well. I found the end of the arms a little blocked; the ones that spray at an angle and point towards the dispenser? Bits of plastic and string that somehow got passed the 2 fine filters at the bottom or past the meshed water inlet? Well its 7 years old and likely never cleaned so it is now and will try next load if all working correctly. All machines need servicing and i wonder if negative dishwasher reviews are sometimes caused by no maintenance? Ours has only 1&2 star rated but ours seems to work fine up till now.

I'm watching this because my wife always rinses VERY well before putting dishes in. I ask why and she says they won't get clean via the dishwasher itself (very expensive model, that's why I ask). However, she crams the thing so full and the dishes so close I believe it's a self-fulfilling prophecy. This video makes me think her process could use review. Now the big question - do I actually point this out?!??!

"No manual rinsing" does NOT mean putting solids into the machine. All detergents are designed for use after the user scrapes leftover food from the dishes before washing. Solid leftover foods should be scraped off the dishes or bowls into an insinkerator or just a waste bin BEFORE loading dishes or bowls are put into the dishwasher. No need to rinnse off the oil.

Thank you so much for this! I did not grow up with a dishwasher. My hubby had one when we moved in his condo but never used it. We are in a new house and spent all this money on new appliances which include a dishwasher. So I insist on getting our monies's worth in use of it.🙂

The iron will hold up fine. It's your "seasoning" (or the coating on the iron) that won't make it through the wash

At 4:34, never put cast iron into the dishwasher because it can't handle the heat a dishwasher can produce? I'm confused, I use a cast iron pan to sear rib eye steaks, I heat the oven to 500° Fahrenheit with the pan inside, then heat the burner on top pull the pan out of the oven and place the pan on the top burner at the highest heat, then sear the steaks for a couple of minutes on each side, then back into the oven at 500 for around 6 minutes..... does a dishwasher get hotter than 500° Fahrenheit? I don't think so.
@akimbo5u
@akimbo5u 4 жыл бұрын
Its not because of the heat shes wrong. You never use dishwasher soap on iron cast because it destroys the coating. Simply heat up your cast iron with salt and let it heat up real good then just wipe it with a paper towel when its not that hot anymore.

If you don't rinse your dishes prior to loading them, the food will build up in your filter at the bottom. It can become really gross and will require cleaning the filter more often.
