FCU Push-Pull Rotary knob Mk3 sporting 2.5mm push-pull travel - DIY

Remaining true to the design philosophy (simplicity, functionality, low cost) , this is the third iteration of my well-received DIY FCU Push-Pull Rotary knob model 1. This model sports a realistic push-pull travel (about 2.5mm) which is close like the real FCU knob. It also has a cleaner look and a simple system to tidy up wiring.

8.5x8.5mm NO-LOCK push button:

Rotary Encoder: (Get the one with 20mm total shaft length with a PLUM handle. If you can only have the one with built-in push button and don't wish to use this push button, you may cut the 2 pins off this encoder )

Your choice of jumper wires: (I use these types. Try not to use fat wires as they may interfere with the range of motion of the assembly and also may not fit in the wire organizer "pocket")

I got this version printed and it works like a charm with sanding not required for most parts. Am very new to 3D printing and just got my first printer recently (Ender3 v3 ke). I am also trying to build A320 FCU and found your Ideas very interesting. I was able to combine this Push - Pull Rotary Knob Mk3 (having 2 switches) with your ALT/Baro Knob (which had only 1 external switch) and it is working like a charm having 2 external switches like your Mk3. Thanks again for sharing these fantastic and functional ideas.

Great job Santi. I wonder would inserting some small springs over the heads of the tactile switches and between the face of the frame they push against help create more resistance to the push pull mechanism and hence make it even more realistic? Really enjoy seeing your videos of designs and mods.

Hi John, I haven't thought of that, but based on feedback by real A320 pilots, these knobs are not too resistive when you push-pull them. In fact one of them says it is soft :)
