I live in the South Metro Fire area of Denver and they use the blankets for the electric cars. They have had several car fires in the last few months. Interesting to watch them use the blankets

Yeah FDNY hasn’t really had a full blown electric car fire. They have had electric cars but not from the battery starting it. They don’t have the blanket yet I believe.

I live in Germany and some departments have vehicles with containers in which they can put the whole car and fill it with water to cool it down.

Every emergency service should have the special fire containment blanket for electric vehicles and F-500 EA extinguishing agent. Statistics show that ICE vehicles are over 3000 times more likely to have a fire than an electric vehicle.

And ice fire can be put out quickly. Lithium fires cannot. Do you own research. The blanket helps contain not stop a fire.

They put the electric car on the hydrant so they can open the hydrant on the car in case it goes up and no limit of water

Did the battery actually burn? Not much damage to the body of the car and they burn hot and long requiring tons of water for extinguishment

Also ev’s are the least likely to burn. Hybrids have the highest occurrence and ice is in the middle. This is per the insurance rating agency that gets the info for insurance companies
