One thing to remember. A beat can be dope, but eventually you are going to want someone to rhyme over it. Ensure that when you are listening back to your track you have an intro, chorus (hook), and verse. The verse section you should air out, pull back on some of the samples and other musical elements. Once you have that good, play it back and try to rap over it. it doesn't have to make sense, it could be gibberish, but imagine something hooky and something more like a verse and ask yourself, can someone flow over this. If so. You got a banger.

Great advice , I do always keep some lyrics around to test the beat I’m working on, or if I start to do some freestyle , then I know I’m in the right path

rappers always like the beats I find the shittiest personally, so another tip is don't trust that much on your own peronal judgement.

once you get the sample warped and chopped into the right segments, how do you get them onto the keyboard on ableton?
@maxismadnice8 ай бұрын
make sure the track you have them on is 'armed' and you should be able to just push the buttons that the chops are on, might have to make sure you're keyboard is in the octave where the chops are as well.

Sorry bro, best way to find sample is on your local record shop ❤️🙏 wouldn't done a boom bap video without mentioning the real art of sampling 😈
@Raymix1000 Жыл бұрын
While I agree that record shops got some gems, not everyone has the space or the money to invest in a turntable and some records. Not to mention there aren't many places that have record shops close by. This video is just the foundation and the technique itself, not to mention, UMG.
@vulnerable2femboys Жыл бұрын
Yeah, let me just summon a record shop in the middle of nowhere and then with the power of alchemy, Ima just materialize a vinyl player so I can be one with the gods of 'real' sampling. Why you even on an Ableton tutorial? Don't tell me you're using a DAW. I thought you advocate REAL sampling. So shouldn't you be using hardware samplers like an MPC? Lmao, why you here?

You are talented but respectfully you have so many more fundamentals you need to learn about the CULTURE of boom bap beats and the tropes that make it taboo. Do the knowledge or don’t try to teach people how to make these type of beats and use your influence to saturate this pure art form.
