Jumpers were the bridge for me to overcome my EXTREME arachnophobia, over the past year I’ve been able to almost fully overcome my arachnophobia, and it’s 100% thanks to little jumpers, I’ve actually actually been able to help others with their arachnophobia by showing them the videos that helped me so it’s really cool to see so many people getting to know how adorable these little guys are. It’s 100% true, the second you are able to see jumpers as little cats with poofy swishy mustaches and a constant expression that seems to say “oh…hello! what are you?” the cuteness literally overrides your fear response. Being able to see these guys tilt their heads with those adorable eyes like they’re asking excitedly asking you question, that cute factor just totally demolishes the fear, it’s really incredible

The mechanics of how they are able to jump is really cool too. You see they don't have any muscles in their legs so they pump blood quickly to the back legs and then they are able to propel themselves and pounce on their prey or around their enclosure. They truly are fascinating little creatures.

I had a terrible fear of spiders, I got myself a baby jumping spider, I watched her grow from baby to an adult, I enjoyed watching her go about her day, the more I watched her, the more I learned to appreciate her, when she would shed her skin I would worry about her, when she caught her first large prey item I was proud of her, when she would coming running to see me I felt so happy. It even got to the point where I could comfortably handle her. I now find spiders super interesting, rather then run away screaming, I can now pick up house spiders and move them to safer spots

I used to have severe arachnophobia. I couldn’t even sit outside and see a spider crawl over a rock a ways away from me without running away. I now loveee spiders and tarantulas. It took a while, but reading up on them and learning about the numerous benefits of spiders, I had an appreciation for them. Although at this point it was still an ‘ I will accept that you don’t need to die but I will still run in fear’, I moved to something different. My friend would send me an adorable picture of a spider everyday for almost 4 months. After that, we moved to less cute ones, and so on and so forth until I could stand to look at them on a screen. The last stage was the most difficult: in person spiders. I started out sitting on my driveway and watching the spiders crawl across my yard, wall, and watched them make webs. I slowly got more and more comfortable with their presence to the point where I would bring inside some jumping spiders to help with the ant infestation I had. After seeing how adorable jumping spiders were, and how friendly, I wasn’t afraid any longer. I hope this helps someone with their fear

As a confirmed arachnophobe I am ready to admit that Lucas the animated jumping spider drew me into a rabbit hole of real jumping spider videos. I believe you are correct that there is some anthropomorphizing going on. The forward facing eyes are the first point. You can see where they are looking. After many hours of clips I can clearly see that they are very aware of their surroundings and at least appear to be curious. They are very tiny and the many clips of them docile, chilling out on someone's finger or hand repeatedly demonstrates that they are not interested in biting us. Some of those I have seen, seem to even recognize their keepers or at least recognize signals that food is being delivered. I believe I would consent to handle a jumping spider. There are no other arachnids for which I would make such consent.

Just the way they move tells you how intelligent they are. All four of them were very calculating when getting ready to jump for their prey. So cute - and smart - how they all climbed to high ground before jumping. And then they look so innocent as they sit and devour the cricket. "Thanks Dad! This is delicious!" I can't believe your female ate nearly the whole cricket. It was bigger than her! It was so cute how chubby she looked afterwards. My sister has experience with different kinds of spiders and bugs. We are thinking of getting one or two for her, so we are looking for channels like yours along with Facebook groups to learn from. As adorable as they are, I imagine they can also be very fragile and vulnerable. My condolences for the loss of your fifth spider. I would absolutely mourn for one of these little guys. They look into your soul. What are their names? I've subscribed and look forward to seeing everyone in your "family." Thank you for sharing your knowledge.

Researching spiders, starting with "cute" spiders like these jumpers, is how I got over my fear. From there, researching spiders that were interesting, or in a certain category, also helped. I started with medically significant spiders, and the science and chemistry behind their bites and venom. Jumping spiders are so cute! It is so cool watching them hunt. There was one living in my kitchen for a while and I would occasionally see it catch small flies. Great housemates. I've found a good way to help folks overcome their arachnophobia depends on their personalities - but my best success is a light bit of facts while showing pictures of my gbb, or showing the pictures of tarantula "toes" with the tiny pads and claws, which leads into a good talk about the pink toe tarantulas (or any avicularia/caribena in general). Some people get interested when they hear my G rosea just didn't eat for about 10 months, or that the females can live for 20+ years

Awesome job, loved your video. I’ve always loved spiders. In college they used to call me Spider-Man because I would keep orb web spider‘s in my windows and feed them at night after they made their webs. I would hunt for flies and insects in the dorm basements and people thought I was really weird, walking around looking up at the corners of walls and windows. I’ll never forget my first encounter with a jumping spider while I was on the toilet (LOL). It walked up to my foot and looked up at me and that was all I needed, I fell in love. Orb web spinning spiders and jumping spiders are my two favorites. Keep up the great work!😊

These are cutie spiders! 💜 For everyone who wants to lose they fear I have a story for you 😊 I’m not a fan of black widows, but I found a small one on my hall sconce a couple of years ago. I couldn’t bring myself to kill it, so I put it in a jar with some leaves & kept it over the winter. I bought crickets at Pet Smart & dripped water in occasionally. I continuously fought off the heebee jeebee’s, although it was fascinating to watch it grow quite large. I learned they are not aggressive & when frightened they make themselves small while trying to look dead. Come Spring I let it go in a nearby park that had a big open field & lots of trees. I just put it’s jar in the grass under a branch and never looked back. I’ve often thought I might start a black widow relocation service. They’re so misunderstood. The pandemic was a setback. Now I’m just waiting for the right time 😉Just having fun but I’ve always been very afraid of black widows & rightly so. By taking care it over the winter I could really study it. I know they are so slow mostly I can just drop it in a jar & take it to the park! Life is so precious, I don’t want to kill anything if I can avoid it. A cute little spider would be fun although there are a couple on my screen door out back! Maybe I can go on adventure to visit my little backyard neighbors and watch how busy they are getting ready for something? Maybe winter? I know they have their purpose in my garden and I’m going to enjoy finding out what that is!💜🙏🏻

Thanks for videos like this! Helps a lot of people - me included - overcome arachnophobia. For me, there are 3 things that makes jumping spiders so cute: - They have nice color patterns, and are not just solid brown/black like many spiders - They have pretty short legs for their body size - They have some hair, of course especially visible with magnification like in the video All this helps to not trigger the "Ewww - spider!" feelings, and see it more like any other bug, or maybe even like a tiny hamster or some other animal that many people find cute.

Tip about hydrating the spiders if you're not worried about aesthetics: One square of toilet tissue paper, folded half, and then half again so it's a quarter of its original size, wet it with tap water but not so much as dripping (squeeze off excess), stick it on the side of enclosure. Change every 4 or 5 days. Another tip: Jumping Spiders absolutely loves transparent straws with diameter they can just fit in. If your spider is a little bigger, you can dismantle a shampoo bottle, where you can find a bigger transparent tube (wash thoroughly before use of course).

Jealous of your regius! I have a bunch of Eris militaris, bronze lake jumpers. Not nearly as big, but they are adorable, as well!

@@Reptiliatus The tarantulas I'm well aware of. But never knew about the jumpy guys. I always assumed they'd be too difficult to keep being so small and skittish, so this is amazing to see. Such tiny little buds. 😊

Something that helped cure my arachnophobia was watching videos of people handling spiders! There's one channel in particular called MyWildBackyard where he goes out and holds wild spiders to show that they really don't want to bite, they only bite if they have to (like if you put pressure on their back). He intentionally provokes bites and sometimes he has to beg the spider to just bite him already lol. Really interesting stuff.

I have a crazy bad arachnophobia. I couldn’t even stand looking at spiders. But the Exoctics lair channel (the young boy that raises tarantulas) and other videos like these have been slowly helping me. I still have troubles when I see spiders in front of me. But I feel I’m overcoming a bit of it. Maybe some day I could start raising a jumping spider to accelerate the process a bit. They seem to be easier to deal with. I’m always afraid of getting bitten as well. But they don’t seem to be very aggressive / defensive. I wonder how much it differs depending on the species as well.

Yes you are right! I am no longer afraid of spiders because of these super cute jumping spiders😍. Easy to answer your question; look at your videos then visit someone that have some so you can see them IRL❤

I'm scared to death of spiders even wolf spiders even though I know they can't bite me but I have been bitten by a brown recluse and a black widow in my life but that was a pretty cool video those spiders are very smart for such small creatures!

They are so adorable. They way they look at you almost communicates a "Hey human, I got this! >:D" and then they pounce on their prey.

They are definitely intelligent and think things through. They also try to work out what your saying to them . The first head tilt I saw in real life was the cutest thing I've ever seen

i dont think one of ur spiders died from dehydration, i think it died from the excess moisture, they dont need wet substrate in their enclosures and get most of their moisture from their prey, too much moisture and humidity can cause fungus within the spider and cause it to die unfortunately. i suggest using a dropper and using a select leaf in the enclosure to put droplets on, thats the most realistic way a spider would get their water in the wild, and it would lessen the excess moisture, the enclosures should be relatively dry.

Encountering jumping spiders in the wild has shown me how intelligent they are. I've successfully saved some because they seem to look at me with understanding and work with me quite easily. I love them for many reasons, one being that they hunt a lot of pest insects and that thwyre incredibly intelligent. The look in their eyes and their body language is very curious and calculative.

In the UK we have a species of these spiders and they are alot smaller, only a few mm's in size, they live around our windows and door frames, you have to use a magnifying glass to see the eyes

It’s true . I was deathly afraid of spiders until I meet a jumping spider now every time I see one in my house I gently get it on my hand and take it back outside.. also I noticed if you talk to them they will turn and look at you and tilt their cute little head haha it’s so adorable and I see spiders in a more friendlier way

I absolutely love these spiders, they are more cat like than spiders, they will catch prey much larger then they are and stalk rather then trapping in a web. I have seen how some people keep them as pets because they interact with their keepers. Tarantula Kat has many that have given her so many adorable little babies. I really enjoy all ur videos and have learned so much about lizards and other creatures that u keep. 👍🏻👏🏼😍👵🏻🇺🇸 thank you again !

I found a little baby jumping spider in my room yesterday, I left it alone and when I came back several hours later it was still there! I took some pictures and got to see its cute little face, then I let it go outside, but now I’m so interested in jumping spiders so this was a really neat video to watch, thanks!!

About 3 years ago, I really started appreciating most spiders (not brown recluse so much) and especially the jumping spiders. We have a couple of out buildings where I can find them pretty regularly and I enjoy letting them crawl on my arm for a bit until they jump off.

I constantly watched documentaries and videos such as the peacock spider dance to overcome my lifelong fear of spiders. I'm so happy I am over it, they are cool and very useful in the world. I was so over my fear that I actually felt compelled to hold a big hairy tarantula at a pet expo! :)

I joined facebook meme groups for spider and general bug enthusiasts and that helped a ton with my fear! And growing up, I learned to befriend the zebra jumpers and cellar spiders that lived in my house, as well as orb weavers outside. Jumpers are so cute and cellar spiders bodies are so tiny that it's harder to be afraid of them. Appreciate from a distance following your natural curiosity, whether that's in person or learning online. Seeing other people who are unafraid and geek out over spiders helps normalize them and makes them seem a lot less scary

I am terrified of spiders… But yesterday when I dropped some thing and went to pick it up I saw a little baby spider jumping away from my hand… and it was the cutest thing. I couldn’t bring myself to smash it… so instead we now have a baby jumping spider as a pet. Hopefully this helps me with fear. Just watching it is pretty fascinating.
