A recent transatlantic red eye I used a Cabeaux neck pillow- game changer. I went for an aisle seat for the extra rest point. I made my own amenity pack which I took to the loo to do as near to my usual bedtime routine as possible. Then once I was done, I went back to my seat, got myself as comfy as possible- seat buckle visible over blanket- neck pillow, eye mask (concave pads on eyes), audio book I was really familiar with (so it felt like a bedtime story) set to run 45 minutes. And I was asleep before I knew it. I usually NEVER sleep on planes.

LOVE these tips Josephine! And such a good point about having the seatbelt over the blanket - the flight attendants will wake you up to check if they think you don't have a seatbelt on!

I definitely agree with checking what the weather will be like on arrival. My last trip we left 4° Edinburgh and landed in 37° Melbourne. I was extremely grateful I had checked and dressed appropriately. I always pack a wide scarf to use as a cover or pillow when needed, as well as headphones and chapstick.

Seat Guru is no more. Maybe Flight aware? I did not book the itinerary for a group trip, when I looked, we had insufficient connection time between flights and also window seats where there was no window.! Really helps look ahead thanks for these great tips!

A light, thin pullover hoodie is my favourite travel attire. You can use that front pocket to hold your phone, headphones, glasses and snacks!

That's a great idea! For a long time I used to have a smallish pouch - one of the Eagle Creek Pack-It range IIRC - with a lanyard and I'd wear that around my neck with essentials like phone, lip balm etc.

@@LinkeLifestyleAsWeSeeIt Oh so with you! Please balance your life experiences. I have known too many people who put off “until we retire” who never made it. I have long thought that people should travel, first in their 20s with Eurail passes and hostels. Later, in their 40s by car and B & Bs and later in their 60s 1st class. The experiences should not be missed at each level! They are different and each individually wonderful. And I lucked out with a wonderful partner to share it with.

Thongs? As in bare feet? No. No. No.
@LinkeLifestyleAsWeSeeItАй бұрын
Is it because your bare feet are still close to the disgusting toilet floor? Or because you don't like seeing other people's bare feet? If it's the first I'm yet to see such a swamp in the loo that it would wash over your thongs, if it's the second don't look - I don't like seeing other people's feet so I just avoid looking at them. And if exposing your feet on a plane make sure they aren't smelly! Ugh! I always get a pedicure before I go on a long flight just to make sure my feet won't be offensive.

I fly overseas at night window seat. I ask not to be woken until 1 hr before landing. I do notbeat on board and sleep the entire trip. No jet lag, no digestive problems, ready to start a new day overseas.
