Some people go into medicine because they're interested in the science of it. Some go for the money. The best go because they care about people! Dr Jefferson is one of them. He cares about the whole person, not just the feet. Very gentle. Never shaming, only educating and easing fears. Well done.

I appreciate/respect your patience and listen to your patients. Too many offices only want to listen to the first 5 words out of your mouth, peek (👀) at your boo boo and diagnose you. Whether your the same patient with the same ailments as the other 20 people they see that day, you should let them speak. Some of a patients treatment is being “heard” and not being treated at part of the “herd”. I’ve been to the same awesome GP for 25yrs. He still asks me what’s wrong and listens to everything. He then asks what I need or would like to do. He THEN tells me his diagnosis and the plan of action.

I was rather curious as to the situation of the sweet gentleman great toe. But it definitely looked amazingly after the calloused skin was removed. I've watched so many videos from this fabulous caring man and I'm continuously amazed how he can take a foot that is really unpleasant to the eye and treat it like it's the foot of a child. There is no question that he is right where he was meant to be. Imagine if all doctors where created from the same cloth.

May I ask how you deal with provider empathy burnout, just something that has been on my mind since the beginning of Covid and just hoping that you and your staff are taking care of yourselves. I’m a mom and caregiver to my epileptic and stroke survivor daughter and man I feel it some days.
@tessakrumpeltree95633 жыл бұрын
Thanks for sharing your concerns and insights. You’re right about “provider empathy burnout.” I think it even extends to “Fauci news conference listener burnout.” I marvel at how something as seemingly unimportant as relaxing with an interesting video can help us reach across very different - but equally painful -situations to find common human bonds. The good news is occasIonally we find a Doctor Jefferson whose soul seems to run so deep and true that he is a living, breathing antidote to “empathy burnout.” It’s hard to find a lot of good models of that and I include myself among the sometimes failures. And as for you, Darci, this stranger in New Jersey is strongly wishing you peace and strength and most of all self love and forgiveness as you deal with what sounds like about the most difficult circumstances I can imagine. My only advice is KWV (keep watching videos.)
