A comparison between what looks like a clone of the Felo E-Smart I found on Amazon and the real thing for those that might be interested.

Thanks. I like the concept of these videos. Some suggestions for improvement though: - You barely spend any time on the most important comparisons: functionality and safety. Not even one screw was screwed in. - Video is too long. 10 minutes would have been enough by being more concise. - Include prices.

I love these clone vs. real deal comparison videos. Recently, I've started to see some clones of the Wera tool check sets popping up on AliExpress and Amazon. I'd love to see them put head to head with the original!

Deer is a Chinese tool manufacturer that's been around for a long time. Their axes and hatchets are common to find and are likely from the 70's.

Been using the original Felo ESmart with the old metal transport case (so bought back in 2006) and we are now in 2022 and still today they are top notch after tons of computers, electrical cabinets and appliances disassembled. No damage on the tips other than normal descoloration from the use where some show the metal under the black coating. Transport box have some scratches and scuffs but still holding together as like new.

R'Deer is a brand I've seen sold at my local electronics store and it's no surprise that they carry R'Deer products as the business is owned by Hong Kong Chinese people. Neat idea for a new series.

Would like to see you check out some of the Orbis German tools on Amazon, I received a 3 piece earlier this week and so far I'm impressed. Was looking on Amazon this morning and a bunch of them were avalible as singles for less then $5, I bought all of them that were really cheap and now later today many of therm are priced between $30-$40 each.

When I watched you pop the Chinese insert out, I thought of being up on a tower or roof and watching that insert plummet to earth. By the way, I think a small pinpoint flashlight would help show the inside of some of these gadgets.

Even though I live in Hong Kong, I've never heard of that R'Deer company. I've also never seen them being sold locally in stores.

I need to go ahead and buy the test specification one of these days to know what the actual acceptable voltage and current profiles are. Usually when you high pot you are not just testing for arcs but for leakage across insulation, which is usually in the microamp range.

With technology being so advanced in just the last 10 years with 3d printing and then consumerism being a target. Even if patents have been expired for years you just now maybe seeing a big influx with clones or knock off products being made with the ease of reproduction its quite interesting from a engineering point of view but just a mess from the legal side of things with company's and people doing what they do when rights are infringed on. Such a shame because so much is being held back from us due to those things.

Any idea what Felo’s target market is? I bought one of their ratchet sets and thought that the sockets were nice but that the ratchet and case were merely OK.
@GermanToolReviews
@GermanToolReviews 6 жыл бұрын
I think they have always been more of a "handyman" type of tool, which is why their prices are generally lower than many other tools made in Germany. They don't make any sockets other than for 1/4" drive so that should tell you they really aren't targeting the automotive market. I have always had good luck with their screwdriver lines.

I'm curious if this Set is actually VDE (Verband der Elektrotechnik) approved or is it just printed on the case and the tools. There are many cheap screwdrivers that actually has been approved and are allowed to use the VDE Logo, not sure about this chinese stuff tho... I know I'd much rather buy a cheap set of screwdrivers that was actually VDE-Approved than buying this chinese set
@DEanimesDE

ofc not :D they just print the logos on it. Common for chinese electronics. Same for LEDs and stuff

There are two problems. First off high cost of some tools. Secondly a culture that steals all designs and what not. Then markets it really cheap. Some of the cost needs to come down on good stuff. I would rather buy quality but the odd time price in our economic world just kills me and I go a bit cheaper. China the rip off capital of the world. And how do we know this ripoff stuff will even meet voltage specs that it says. Reputable companies with certifications have tested the stuff.

I have the Wera ones and I absolutely love them. Had them for a few years now and they get used every day. Still holding up like brand new. I just don't understand and never will understand why people would get the knock offs? They could be putting their lives at risk.

Yeah especially for the VDE stuff. There are some Chinese tools that have real VDE certs but I couldn't find one for this company.

Well it's not ideal for sure but if there is an electrical job that you absolutely must do and you can't afford the real deal it's still better to use the knock off vde than using a standard screwdriver at least it gives you some degree of protections

No es ningun clon, el mango del chino no dice Felo, en la caja tampoco dice el nombre Felo. Un clon seria una copia exacta, en este caso no lo es.

VDE is a compliance testing agency in Asia, similar to UL for the US, or TÜV for Europe. Insulated screwdrivers like these have to be certified by those types of agencies.
