@appalachianhomegrown9207 I agree completely with you about our gubbermint. We had minor flooding, power outages, high winds, downed trees, and one fatality in a neighboring county. I live in the west central mountains in Virginia. I haven't heard or seen anything about VA or WVA except Damascus, having damages from the evil hurricane Helene. Ours was really very minor in comparison to everyone below us. I could have floated down our street on a tube in the red rushing waters that day. The grandchildren couldn't go to school because they had no power. Pieces of pavement lifted up and floated on our street. I'm looking at our town now in a different way because of this storm. Mountains flooding and sliding is horrifying. We had a derecho many years ago, and it was terrifying. Our mountains have always protected us, and now we have all of this crazy weather, so I just don't know anymore. My grandfather was transferred to North "Cacalacky" (I couldn't pronounce Carolina correctly when I was little, so that's what I called it and it stuck) in the 60s, and it is home to me and always will be a part of my heart. I am praying for everyone affected by the evil hurricane Helene. 🙏 Much love from Melissa in the mountains of Virginia. ❤️ Mountain Strong.

In FL where l live, they have treated the tornado victims terribly in Palm Beach County, they are mostly republicans, FEMA posted a meeting for the people whose houses were damaged or destroyed and people showed up to meet with FEMA , but FEMA never showed… l wonder if FEMA checked the registered votes records easily found online . Except for that one town and I don’t even know which one it was where Glenn Beck just happened to see them there behind the building and it was stupid that they were there to begin with because people couldn’t come to them. They were doing nothing but sitting they weren’t gonna go look for people. They weren’t gonna save people. They weren’t doing nothing but waiting for people to come to them to give them their name. FEMA isn't in charge of cleanup or rebuilding. They aren't in charge of staffing supply depots. They're in charge of sending in supplies and providing financial assistance for recovery. So you wouldn't see them out doing that kind of work. They get the needed supplies to local emergency/disaster managers and coordinate with state and local officials on bringing in needed supplies. They aren't "stealing supplies;" if they were we would have seen video of it. That kind of thing would go viral. They also aren't stealing anyone's land. They don't have the legal authority to do that, and if they were doing it, there would be deed transfers on file. If that's a thing, why has no one produced that evidence? I get the frustration. This was a huge, devastating disaster. I know how I feel when the power goes out for a couple of days; I can't imagine how I would feel if I had lost everything. But FEMA didn't cause it, and they shouldn't be scapegoated because people don't really understand exactly what it is they are in charge of doing and are upset that everything isn't fixed already. Aside from the supplies, port a johns, mobile showers, tents, campers, etc. they've brought in, their main role will be helping people finance rebuilding, both with grants and low-interest loans. Those aren't going to be available from commercial banks. That's the one essential thing FEMA does that no one else will. Everyone wants "smaller government" until they need help. But realistically, if it was up to FEMA to do everything - clear the roads and rebuild them, clean up the debris, bring in the supplies and distribute them, get the electricity back on and the cell towers back up, get temporary housing set up or secured for everyone, and assess loss claims and help disaster victims secure funds for rebuilding, they would need 10x as many employees. Their model has always been to let the locals direct the operation; they don't bigfoot the recovery plan. With a disaster of this size, it requires everyone to pitch in to clean up and rebuild; FEMA is playing its role, and it's really not helpful to demonize them because they aren't doing things that aren't part of their mandate to do. So your rant comes off as both uninformed and ungenerous for the hundreds of millions of federal aid that has already been distributed in the area. Sorry no one can just wave a magic wand and make everyone whole again. The country has NEVER operated that way. You aren't being singled out, and your misinformation isn't going to help anyone recover. That having been said, I do hope the recovery is as speedy as possible, but just having seen photos and videos of the destruction, it's clear that it's going to take months for any normality to return and years to really bring things back to what they were before the storm. I am sorry for everyone affected and hope for the best for all of them.

I agree with you because not everybody once brand new cities I want them to go and rehab and re-construct or remodel the insides of these buildings. I don’t want them to tear them down and build brand new. That’s what they’re doing in Fort Wayne, Indiana and it makes me sick.😡. There are very few old buildings left in Fort Wayne because I think they had the same thoughts as President Trump and Elon Musk. Oh, let’s build all new buildings instead of refurbishing the old buildings. They did do that to about three buildings that I can think of in one was GE that was a huge factory in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and they are refurbishing that. But there’s just some thing about an old little town. Maybe it’s because we see the past the way things used to be built or made or the community used to be. Because it’s like nobody knows anybody anymore that they live near there’s no community. I’m sure we’re gonna have to get back to that by the time God is done with America and what’s coming in the next 2 to 3 years. None of this of what’s happened has anything to do with political anything!! I think the politicians are looking at it like that but people that care and love other people they are not thinking about anything political. In fact, I think most of them are thinking get out of our way politicians. Anytime the politicians get involved in anything it’s never done right or goes right. I understand sometimes people need help, but I think our country was doing so much better before welfare came about. Sometimes I think maybe giving people help that they needed should’ve stayed in the church and maybe some small nonprofit organizations, but not with our government because I think they have ruined our country. In fact, I know they have ruined our country with dumb down people making them get on welfare making them think they can’t do anything for their self. I hope and pray that all these little towns that were affected can get their buildings and their homes refurbished and get back to living and thriving. That’s what I would love to see happen!!!😻❤️

You got me to thinking about "new" cities and erector sets...and my thoughts went WAY back to my childhood. I have always liked the log cabin building set over the sterile and stark erector sets. There is a warmth and charm to them that the shiny or industrial look does not have. I've always felt more welcomed at a log structure than a steel and concrete one. The logs enable you to go from a one room structure to a mansion, if you wish, but still feels more welcoming.

whats cool about small downtowns....the town square the christmas time decorations local diners and local hardware stores and churches. high school staduims might not be your town but its still a welcoming environment. think what he is saying ain't so? remember east palestine and the disaster that happened there #47 showed up at least.

I belive that the level of value this organization has for fellow citizens is evil as love doesn't abide with evil. Their lack of care shows many will not continue to stay employed after people stand for change.

Is this your first encounter with FEMA? And the insurance companies? I live on the Gulf Coast and have had several times that I've dealt with both. What is your evidence that any absence is politically motivated? Also, I thought Ashville was relatively democratic leaning. I can tell you that my experience with Insurance Companies and FEMA has been relatively the same as yours. My point is this, without evidence except "they aren't here" to make accusations that any lack of FEMA response is politically motivated is why our country is so divided. This is only helpful to the ruling class and ultra weathly. Us being divided serves a purpose to them. How you ask, one reason is that certain people want the government to fail so they can justify making all services privatized, thus making them more money. Yet, in your video, you criticized the insurance companies for essentially the same thing. Yet, the insurance companies aren't politically motivated? I don't think that you and others do this intentionally but are guided by misinformation and not using critical thinking. Many rely on FEMA because they can't afford insurance. I'm thankful that you can. I do hope you read this with an open mind and take it with kindness as that's what is meant. I would love a response. By the way, I have additional thoughts to add on how to prepare for insurance companies to get a maximum return. Also, I stayed two weeks in Ashville and the surrounding areas this year. Visited and purchased items in the Arts District. I'm so saddened by what has happened in the area. And I haven't had a response from people I met. Thanks for reading.
