What a band this was.🔥 Garson's piano and Earl Slick's guitar elevate this way beyond the studio version IMO. The more I listen, the more it becomes apparent how great a song this is. In a period where his work was at its most patchy, he comes up with something beautiful and very moving.❤️

I don't know why, but this reminded me of my mother. Passed yrs ago. But the distance between us, yet love I felt, feel for her. Maybe we're spiritual beginners. I love you, Mother.

I've loved Bowie music since the early '70s.........but, this song has always been my favorite. The lyrics and chord changes are simply genius and quite honestly it's all I can do to keep from weeping openly. Rest in Peace, David.

David Bowie!!! What can Ii say~~~ He is the single most powerful influence upon me as a musician. Ii was looking for a single song of his to express my feelings at this time; to my amazement, there were just too, too many among his "21 Albums" in my iTunes!!!! Yet this one: 'Absolute Beginners' is a perfect Torch Song for today. All my Love to you David~~~ It's Absolutely True! "If our love song Could fly over mountains Sail over heartaches Just like the films There's no reason To feel all the hard times To lay down the hard lines It's absolutely true" ~BOWIE 💗💔💓

His voice is so beautiful. I wish I listened to him more when he was alive. Thank God we have his amazing voice forever with us. He looked so happy during this concert. That's what real love does to a person and he had it with his wife and children. May God bless and keep them.

When I first heard Bowie at The Beeb this track stood out for me at the time and it still does. I just love this live version. Bowie sings with such joy and passion and the band behind him (with the awesome Mike Garson) are superb. What an astonishing legacy you left us all David...your lyrcis in this still bring all that still love you such joy...you shiny Blackstar :)

What an amazing song. Those lyrics cut deep like surgeons, you really feel what he's saying about being naive and not knowing what the proper next step is. David Bowie's music was a transcending element of beauty, art, feelings and pure balls that no singer has today!!!!!

How do you bring back the 80s? The decade wasn't that good anyway - we just romanticise the time when we were young. This, and Bowie in general is great, of course.
