I got this one in Miami Blue just over a week ago and it’s unreal. I’ve only ever had cheap pawn shop basses before, so this is an entirely different level.

I had the SAME experience! I saw the bass at Guitar Center, picked it up, began playing it and immediately felt like I had just returned to my home. I love my Am. Pro II. Also, it's in the same color combo as the one you are playing. I have an American Jazz bass that I love, but it is now my #2 to the Am. Pro. II. Thanks for confirming my love of my new bass.

I have the 75th anniversary Professional 2, and I LOVE IT! I tried one and sent for one that day and I liked the one I got even better. I have always had a P-Bass around even a 62' that I sold, could not take it out anymore. I like this one better! The 62' was a one trick pony (one great trick!). This is the real deal, with flats it's heaven on earth.

I was going to get this anyway but I really like how this dude who has played many different basses over many years is into this one. I waited months to get the Dark Night color with rosewood and it is a work of art! It feels very smooth like Bob said and the modern pickups sound phenomenal

I love this bass. Just got mine 1 week ago for an excellent price. It’s beautiful and if I were to spend 2X the price, I still would buy it. I love the sustain it make esp on the E and A stings. You can tell it’s a P Bass. And, I only tuned it once since it arrived. It kept it’s tune.

I got a Fender Professional Precision Bass V I series and felt that way. The pickups are a little brighter and they are more sensitive to setup than the V-Mod II pickups, but I do like them. That '63 P Bass neck profile is to die for though. The Pro series Precisions have absolutely the best necks I've ever felt, bar none. I especially like it for the V since most five-stringers have much narrower string spacing, which I don't like (despite having smaller hands). I like space, roundness, and chunk to work with. Also, the bridges on these things are great, too.

Hey Doug, I haven't tried the V but it sounds great. I agree with you about the string spacing.

I have the Am Pro 1, which I really like, but I had to change the pickup to something else. I really don’t like the original V-Mod pickups. Every time I pick up the Am Pro II, though, I have to admit that it’s just better in every way straight out of the box. I do wish it came in Candy Apple Red though! As far as my “feels like home bass”? Definitely my Rickenbacker 4003s! Thanks for the review!

Another great review Bob. I skipped this review when you did it 2 yrs ago since I considered this bass way out of my budget and skill level. Well today I had the opportunity to play a used one, and whatever neck carve they have going on - My fretting hand felt like it was on autopilot. Worth the price? Yes and I need to have a conversation with my wife $$$$!😅

Hi,new sub here.I'm an older bassist (66) and l see the need for a site giving info addressing the problems that come with getting old but still having the same desire for playing.Things like losing a bit of dexterity and even finding gigs which is hard enough for everyone in this crazy world of today.I came across your site and thought maybe here's a guy that can relate to another person my age.
@BobBlackBass2 жыл бұрын
Hey Kev, thanks for the comments. Personally, I haven't noticed any loss in dexterity though I play a lot every day. I think getting gigs depends on where you are located. Here in Florida there are lots of older folks and plenty of gigs for a good bass player.
@kevmac12302 жыл бұрын
@@BobBlackBass Location certainly matters.Maybe dexterity has to do with lack of gigs as I practice constantly.But then I can't catch up to a good fastball at the cage like I use to either.lol

I just got mine a week ago and it is really nice however the setup was poor and the stock strings were harsh. I replaced the strings with DR Sunbeams and literally spent the whole day trying to get the protective plastic film and adhesive removed from the pick guard. This my third Fender bass and I’ve not had to work so hard to get bass up and running. On the positive side, it is extremely comfortable to play and sound is very even and has a great lower midrange. Its expensive ( $1750) but if you are a P-Bass person, get it. P. S. Ditch those strings.
@BobBlackBass2 жыл бұрын
Hey Cap683, sorry to hear about that setup! I still have some plastic wrap under my control knobs! I put thomastic flats on mine though I didn't mind the stock Fender strings.

Thanks for the great demo. Does it have the "high mass" bridge? Some songs I play require a lot of sustain. I like the color combination, too. If I get one, this would only be the 2nd bass I've ever owned: My daily driver is a Gibson Victory from the early eighties. If you are familiar with the Gibson, can you compare it to your Fender. Thanks again!

Fender Player versus the American Professional? Is the professional worth twice the cost of the player in your opinion? And is the American Professional II considered a step up from the first version?

Hey Gregory, having played both, I would say yes, the American professional ii is worth the extra money.

I play bass for 27 years now. I had quite a few basses. At the end of the day it was ALWAYS a P bass that i picked up. Now i own exactly one SANDBERG P and i'm happy with it. I recently played a €1,499 MIJ Fender Jazz and was blown away by the build quality of the instrument. It was superb. But i didn't like the sound. If it has been a P i had bought it immediately. Now i'm wondering if MIA Fender basses have the same quality. Because these are €1,999 here in Germany and they're quite rare. Nobody has them in stock. Even the very big companies like THOMANN (German counterpart to SWEETWATER).
@BobBlackBass2 жыл бұрын
I would love to try the Sandberg! I hear that they are awsome!

@@BobBlackBass Well, they are! Built quality is outstanding. All of them are PLEK'd. So a very low string action isn't a problem
@chesterfieldduke3957 Жыл бұрын
I chose the Mendel over this after quality issues on 2 different ams. I compared Mendel to am head to head and SD QBs gust blew the am out of the water in depth of tone. I know Mendel is an MIM and the SBs are an acquired taste for some. Rosewood board in Mendel also much nicer. Downsides in Mendel. No thru body stringing, slightly weightier, and a truss rod adjuster that’s tucked away (all things mentioned on this channel before). And yes. Get your hands in one. I liked the maple necks / boards in the ams better than their rosewood. Would have stuck with that but I’m squarely in the rosewood camp. 😜
