That treble issue is easily fixed. There are basically too many strats in that room. They absorb too much tone. If you send one (ideally two) over to me, that'll cure it I am sure :D Tasty playing as per usual though!

"HOW MANY of these Fender Bender Toast Master's does a guy need - jumping Jiminy Crickets did the town run you a private line from the power company to handle all your power consumption! ! ! ? ? ? Yee must have the greatest collection of home outlets EVER"?! Well, yeah it sounds EPIC, this one is a roaring Chuck Yeager X15 sky climbers if ever I heard one, AND from you Sonny Jim, I've heard maybe all of them. That "Ascension of Tone" ( I just named your solo album) is no doubt cinematic to the core. Our hero holding the lost child, walking next to the women he found in trouble, saving her to escape and walk off to the awaiting private jet ready to race them back to his water front home on the rocky but wonderous Northern Maine Coast, fade to black, roll credits que up this first piece you just played and pass the carrots 🐰🥕 Thank you Dave - Peace & Love from Arkansas, USA

Dave, I test drove a tonemaster twin reverb at the music store. Liked it well enough to take it home...... Got it home and hooked my Leo Fender G&L Fullerton with MFD pickups into the amp.... Started playing and OMG!!! That combo of guitar and amp sounded so good that it brought tears to my eyes, literally !..... I own 4 other Fender valve amps that i have had for years and this amp is right up top with them. With my pedalboard combo into the effects channel it has everything that i have ever wanted sound wise in an amplifier. .....I agree to disagree with you on the treble side of the amp, it is a dark amp but with the right combo of pedals (my pedals: mxr, tc electronics and electro harmonix) I have achieved everything that i wanted to with this amp tonewise!... Wish you lived a little closer, the music you play is right up my alley! Boogie n blues are my life and i am sure that if we jammed together that people would suffer from sound radiation poisoning .....🤣🤣😂😂....... Great full length review!! ............Jam on Brother.

Another blindingly great review by Dave, keep them coming. The tone master twin, to get the same experience as the valve one, has a 200watt class D power amp, (which is smaller than piece of toast ! and nearly as light). When your tone master breaks, which mine did, it just suddenly stopped working. It has to go back to back to Fender, there is nothing repairable inside, just 4 circuit boards and their interconnections. Fender will either replace the whole amp, if its in warranty. Of fix it at cost if it is not. I am currently waiting for a new circuit board /part before it can be fixed, lead time 8 weeks, ouch. But, it does sound great and it only weighs 15kg, so you can actually take it to a gig by yourself. I want mine back

Just stumbled on your excellent video Dave. I played Twin Reverbs for years and never needed crank the treble to 10, but when I bought the Tonemaster version, I found I had to turn the treble right up. I think they're great amps, but I think Fender need to work on the software to get the top end sounding more glassy and open like a valve version. Carry on old chap.

I have the blonde version of this with the neo cream back speakers and it’s fantastic. Never played the regular black version with jensens. But I can say the blonde version I have is so versatile. It’s so clean with high headroom it works great as a pedal platform. I Dont know why they change the speakers to the color wave. Would have liked the same speakers in the black version and vice versa for options. Wish you could have tried the blonde version in an a/b with this one.

Hey Dave. Awesome intro brother. I’ve had this amp for about a year now. I got the blonde version. I absolutely love it. It gives me the tone I always looked for. Even sounds great with my Les Paul. These amps are incredible but I do worry about the long term reliability of them. It’s basically a computer. Time will tell but in the mean time, I’ll rock the bell out of it.

Dave , you gotta try this on the Tonemaster, trust me. Ge t a Radial Twin-City ABY Amp Switcher. Plug the guitar into the Radial input. Plug the A side of the switcher output into the normal in Tonemaster #2. Plug the Radial B output into the Vibrato #2 Tonemaster input. FLIP the polarity on the Radial to 180 degrees ( A and B out of phase - Important) Use both Tonemaster volume controls. Turn it up. 🎸

The title of this clip caught my eye. I have a Fender Deluxe 112 Plus amp. 94 watts, can be unbearably LOUD. I have a minor issue attenuating the treble of which this amp is capable. I get a great tone with the amp's treble set to just under 3. My ZOOM G7.1ut Guitar Effects Console has a 6 band EQ and for just about every patch, the EQ has Harmonics, Presence, and Treble generally turned down into negative numbers so as to obtain a non-ear bleeding listenability.

I haven't had an opportunity to try this version of the Twin yet, but I've owned a valve powered '65 reissue one for the last ten years. After I got that, I haven't even considered any other model of guitar amp. It's that brilliant... ...that is, until this tone master version came out. The prospect of having, essencially, the same amp but with a weight of 15 kg. instead of 30... Yeah, that is indeed tempting(!). I've now turned 50, and my back isn't getting any better, to put it that way. My only concern is how well they are buildt/how good quality the components are with regards to reliability/longevity. Every review I've seen/read- yours included- points to these performing every bit as good as a "normal" Twin, so... Yeah! I am indeed tempted!
@Innerspace100 Жыл бұрын
And now that I've owned the Tone Master Twin for a month, I can say that the old one is obsolete. End Of. Not only that, it sounds better than the "real" one. The only caveat here is that I got the blonde one with the cream back Celestions. But, that brings things a tad closer, but not too much, closer to my old Marshall. So, tone master Twin it is!

Interesting, this idea of a digital twin. By the grace of God, I lucked into my later-'60s Blackface Twin, back in the mid-'80s. And I have NEVER put it above 7 or 8, as it would set off all the burglar alarms in the neighborhood! It's simply a beast! I've sometimes thought of all the gear I could buy if I were to sell her, but I absolutely know, no matter how high the price, I would have seller's remorse that would haunt me through the end of my days. There are just some pieces of gear that are so special that you just would never want to part with it - and an original Blackface is definitely one of them!

Hey Dave! Wondering if you've tried running all 4 inputs at the same time on your Lab Series L5 amp yet. I have one, but it needs to be repaired. While reading about the amp and looking at the back schematic, I realized you must be able to do this. A/B boxes or stereo outputs on a few effects pedals should give you enough branching to try it out. I'm just curious and hoping your are too now!
@asylumofglass2 жыл бұрын
Just an example since you liked the comment: Guitar > A/B box. The A signal goes into the main channel's low input. You blend and shape the EQ of the B signal and send it to the Hi input, because it is lower in volume. Get the BB King tone going again. Then before that first A/B you have another. The B signal just goes to the chain above. The A goes to the second, quiet channel's inputs. You stick some octave fuzz, then backward delay from the green line 6 unit, and split it with some stereo reverb, or whatever A/B, another EQ/effect to boost the Hi input's signal to match the volume of the Low. So the lesson. 3 A/B or Stereo Effects in total required. Two ways of boosting the quiet channels recommended. A Reverb type effect in the quiet channel if you want to give that signal chain a "space" to match the loud volume's built in Reverb.
