no better feeling in the world than to take something broken, esp something others have kinda given up on, and making it work. having the right tools, and not afraid of getting greasy, makes it all happen. congrats man

Something I learned last year after decades playing with coolant in odd setups. Use a rigid cap mount filler with funnel, then go to a high point bleeder and pull a vacuum on the coolant system with a hand pump.. I think it's something developed for Huracan maintenance but wow does it work for everything.

I am really glad to have found this site. I have watched a number of these over the past few months and I must say I owe you "thanks" for completely wiping out any misguided idea I might have cultivated in my poor mind about buying and maintaining a car of this ilk. The coolant change was bad enough but really, how long did it take you to take off the fuel filter? "You are a better man than I am Gunga Din."

Hi Scott Another great video, watching you work on the drive and in the rain, takes me back to earlier(much earlier !) times in my too distant past, when, due to my slim build, I was sent under the car by my dad and older brother, to carryout the awkward jobs, I'm too old and inflexible to do that now, I prefer to work at chair height! You put an amazing amount of time and effort into your cars and videos, do you have a day job? My son would like to say hi to your daughter who appears in the final scene of each video!

Scott, have you found a DIY manual on all of these things that you are doing? Like knowing where and how many drains there were in the oil system? Also on the coolant drains and how to use them? I am looking now into buying a 308 and would like to do all of these things myself. I like you will have to be on my back with dirty hands. I love it! Thanks for the encouragement you have offered so many!

She's a diamond in the rough! What is left to repair under the dash? Just assembly? That wiring is my nightmare. I had my Alfa's pulled out last weekend when I was using a Power Probe to find a short, and I couldn't wait to get it put back under the dash. Looked horrible.

He gets a lot done given limited space and facilities but that polluted driveway must be an environmental nightmare. Lucky the neighbours don’t complain about the noise and everything else because they could argue he’s running a business without the necessary consents. Still, good to see these cars being brought back.

regarding draining the coolant and refilling and bleeding the system, so that bleeding bolt on top of the thermostat housing is a really stupid design because as you point out you have to take it fully out and try and get it back in with hot coolant spluttering out but there is a modified after market bolt available that is a proper bleeder screw which has a hole in it half way down the thread so you don't have to take it right out, I think Hill Engineering do one, I got one a few years ago from a guy in the States, wasn't Birdman but I think it was Birdman's web page that had a link to it .

good tip rata use a 2 litre plastic coke bottle screw cap off rap some electrical tape around the thread cut bottom off bottle put neck of bottle in radiator filler bottle make sure it is a neat fit fill bottle full of coolant open bleeder valves coke bottle is the highest point so you should get no air lock in the cooling system you can do this with motor running or not works everytime cheers arnie
