The botanist Patrick Blanc, inventor of the Vertical Garden (Mur Végétal) takes you to a Field Trip in the Eastern Arc Mountains forests of Tanzania where so many endemic species are now mostly surviving in the protected areas of the Uluguru and Udzungwa mountains as well as in the lowland Kimboza forest. Also a short visit into the savannah at the bottom of the mountains in Mikumi National Park.

Thanks so much. Yes, it is strange that so few botanists visiting remote protected areas of the world don't try to show what they observe...

I love Sumatra and I did visit the South while I was a student in 1980 and again some more times later. You can also watch our video on Pentastemona egregia around Bukittinggi released few years ago.

It feels so strange and fascinating to see some of the plants around me on their natural habitat like the begonia on 46:30 and the sansiviera at the beginning of the video (i didn't know they can bloom like that). Also this 1 hour long video feels like a real experience with so many great views to screenshot 🏞 Take care 🌻

Merci ! Yes, always good to see what is the natural habitat of the plants growing in our doctor waiting room... And we are happy to show that Tanzania is not only the home of the big five but also of so many wonderful but more discrete creatures.

The thorny stem between 38:54 and 39:13 looks more like a Zanthoxylum species (maybe Z. chalybeum), not Senegalia (Acacia) nigrescens.

Thanks, yes, it seems that the cylindric annulated thorns are more matching with Zanthoxylum. Anyway, we hope that you were somewhat interested by this film showing many more uncommon species, most of them never filmed before..

@@creaturefree I really enjoy your videos and I'm a big fan of your vertical gardens webpage. Truly amazing! I'm a botanist from Romania and I was lucky enough to visit a few places where you have been traveling, but your travels are on another level! Thanks for sharing your experiences and for all the high quality info about the plants we love. Keep up the good work and all the best to you!

@@creaturefree Dear Mr. Blanc, Thank you so much for your response. I have accessed the website several times before but this is the first time I've ever actually explore the 'Inspiration' section. It's so amazing that the categories are so organized and the caption is very detailed as well. I'm currently enjoying the 'Aquatics and Rheophytes', they are my favorite kind of plant 💚 It's an honour to be able to experience all the things you have shared to us on this channel and the website. Best wishes 🌺
