How come the de-ice is like yellow and green? what's that all about?
@fluchterschoen3 күн бұрын
I'm not a de-icing expert, but common sense would suggest it is to give a clear visual confirmation of the parts of the aircraft's skin that have been treated. I suspect (I'm pretty sure I'm right, but can't be bothered checking for your benefit) that the first brown/yellow fluid is to melt and remove existing ice, and the green fluid is an anti-ice gel to prevent new build up. If you'd thought about it before typing your question you'd surely have realised that the fluid has to have some colour or else the ground crew would have no idea which surface had or had not been treated.
