I'm glad when I learned TKD, I learned from a guy who moved over from Korea and taught old school TKD. We learned how to use our hands, of course use our legs, and he even taught Hapkido. And a few days a week he would teach a small bit of wrestling and ground game.

Well that only applies to some schools I guess, because traditional martial arts is a easy sport to make money off of which make you end up playing over $1,000+ for gear and belt tests, and that's not counting monthly payments and tournament fees. Black belts only show that you've mastered the basics, and are ready to move onto advanced techniques. Most people don't understand this, and think they're godlike in actual fights when they're only trained for tournaments or in-school sparring.

After I practiced muaythai for years I got into many street fights. In one fight I just got my ear ring pulled of, that is the last time I went on a fight. I then thought that I wanted to learn a martial art that's in white uniform and effective in street fight, because I can see that I'm improving and of course it looks cool. So I practiced Shotokan-Karate for a year and I just got my green belt last month. Now I do Bas Rutten's MMA workout everyday, and that really strengthen me up!

It depends on the organization or school. Traditionally most Korean martial arts use red belt instead of brown, but some do use brown instead of red. There are some organizations and styles that use both brown and red belt. The two main taekwondo groups; ITF and WTF only use red belt, but the American Taekwondo Association uses both belts in their system.

I practiced Aikido when I was in grade 7 and stopped when I had orange belt, because I get bullied and I realized that I couldn't use the wrist lock against him. Every day I went to school and get bullied, and I couldn't fight them. I then joined judo club in my school when I was grade 9 and I started to get stronger. Strange that when my muscle started to be bigger the bullies started to be nice with me. I practiced judo for half a year and I started doing Muay Thai since then.
