Yeah when you take a hit there you lower your guard it's kind of a flinch too Happens when you take a hard low kick to the thigh too, you lower your guard and your center of gravity for a micro-second. Can be used against an opponent to open up some space at head level if you've got a good timing

Well, if you're boxing the reflex is to bring your hands up. The idea is to not completely block your vision so you can see punches coming. Of course if there's a car accident or an explosion you're not doing head movement. The concept is simply that in a fight scenario if you're constantly flinching your adversary is going to feint and exploit your over reaction.

Back when I was in Middle School, there used to be random fights appearing out of nowhere, I got involved in some of them, and after a few years, my flinch reflex when people try to punch me is grabbing their hands. It’s weird that i’ve seen a few fighters get “run up on” and they do this flinch that looks suspiciously like their guard, almost like they trained that over and over again till it was “instinctual.” ...kinda similar to wrestlers being sucker punched and dropping for a double. Seen plenty of “standing-knocked-out” wrestlers come to on top of the guy.
@MrRicktoejam3215 жыл бұрын
People that know me know that when I get snuck up on for a prank or to scare me I tend to flinch ummm really well.(causing someone to get elbowed or backhanded) and I always say the same thing every time. “Yo you can’t be sneaking up on me like that” or “bruh you almost go laid out” people think is funny to tease until they come across someone who is seasonally trained in self defense

Hey Shane, I actually left a comment on your anti-flinch video about Blauer's system! Do you disagree with Tony or is there a way that you reconcile between using flinch and training anti-flinch?
@fighttips5 жыл бұрын
I believe you should train both! In a boxing match or MMA fight inside of a ring, where you have time to prepare and stand toe-to-toe with someone, the anti-flinch training is great for keeping your eyes open so you can attack/defend and counter accordingly. Practicing to weaponize the flinch is great for sneak attacks, cheap shots, and ambushes (street attack scenarios) -- not to be confused with a mutually agreed upon street fight. Plus, even in competition, you may get overwhelmed and flinch -- proper training will minimize the time it takes you to get a grip on the situation, so that you can effectively fight back. Does this make sense?
@damvid215 жыл бұрын

@tprnbs5 жыл бұрын
@RCyou know a little but talk much If stimulus is introduced TOO QUICKLY you will flinch (it bypass cognition, you can't train that) and kind of stimulus doesn't matter. If you walk down the street and some guy throws punch at you out of nowhere, you will flinch instead of analyzing "oh it's right hand i will do..." there's no time for that.
@tprnbs5 жыл бұрын
@RC I didn't write "you talk too much" learn to read :) I'm not talking about fight when both opponets know they will fight (that's different story) i'm talking about situation when you are outside thinking about dinner/family etc and ssomeone suddenly touches you or throws punch without you excepting that, you will flinch then no matter how much traning you have
@tprnbs5 жыл бұрын
RC no, i’m not feeling superior, look how you started your first comment „lmao both of you” did you feel superior then? :) you failed to understand my comment. You could flinch even if you saw fly flying if it appears suddenly in corner of your eye KIND OF STIMULS DOESN’T MATTER - you will be like „what was that?”, then your brain calms down, and AFTER that enitial flinch your training kicks in and you can use your moves
