Күн бұрын

Learn along with me as I take a lesson in the Aerosoft CRJ 700 with Michael, a real world CRJ first officer and former flight instructor. He takes me through a full flight from Atlanta (KATL) to Washington Dulles (KIAD), from powering up the aircraft from cold and dark to shutting it down at the other end. If you'd like to follow along, the flight plan and other resources can be found below. There are also links to different chapters if you're looking for guidance on something specific.
We go through every flow and checklist, just as they're run in the real world at Michael's US regional carrier. Along the way, we gain some fascinating insights into real world ops, key differences between the Aerosoft CRJ and the planes that Michael flies in real life, and we learn how to troubleshoot and deal with some of the plane's... idiosyncrasies!
Michael has his own KZbin channel at / aupilot77 - do go and check it out!

Your WT CJ4 and the CRJ videos are now my "go to" tutorials. Wouldn't be upset if you decided to do the same for the flybywire A320 if you had some spare time in the future - LOL.

A320 content too saturated with real world pilots already.... That's why CRJ and CJ4 is good because these stand out so well for products that really need them.
@lakids1439
@lakids1439 3 жыл бұрын
@@Aleksandar6ix True, many A320 sources available. However, the format followed by the CRJ and CJ4 tutorials uses a single video to cover the most cogent aspects of the two planes. This same format applied to the A320 would be very beneficial to me and hopefully other sim pilots. Additional in-depth aspects of the A320 can always be searched as needed by accessing the wealth of information you referenced.

I’ve simmed on Xbox for a while but now but this is one of the planes I wanted the most. Moved to pc a couple weeks ago and this plane was the first plane I bought. Just now learned how to fly it and I’m having such a blast with it. The biggest reason I wanted this plane was so I could do operations out of my home town of south bend as crj’s is mainly what we get. This tutorial was so amazing

Excellent video. Again the detail is good. Especially the FMS setup. Important for us simmers to get an understanding of the flight plan. It’s not just a list of letters and numbers that we take for granted and let MS FS 2020 deal with it. It’s good to be able to understand everything about the route and interpret the small details. After all MS FS is meant to be a Simulator !. And the CRJ from Aerosoft is an excellent addition to this Simulator. Many thanks. I have now subscribed to your channel.

I mentioned in your Tutorial for the CRJ I had just purchased this aircraft recently. This is another excellent Video which is very useful to sharpen our skills. Also, you ask the “silly questions” and by that, those things that we’ve never known the answers to for example the recap on flap landing deployment. It’s those questions I think we all really benefit from. First class Filbert, I am delighted I happened on your channel! Keith.

I remember when I used to fly the crj-200 then going to the 700-900 it was like a completely different jet. The 200 had one FMS on the captain's side and the plane was completely manual compared to the 700-900. The -200 was also under powered at altitude compared to the -700-900. Ahh good times based out of DTW.

Fellow CRJ FO here, based in the southeast, just not the ATL based one :-) IAS does switch to Mach automatically going through FL316 at the same time as 1/2 bank. Typically above 10,000ft we climb in VS mode (or even PITCH mode) to avoid the porpoising that we get in CLB mode. Just a technique to consider as even this sim seemed to porpoise a bit. This can be felt in the real airplane and is better for passenger comfort. The performance issues in cruise may be used to exceeding the maximum cruising altitude for the given weight you were at. In the real airplane we would use ACARS or our speed cards. Not sure about this sim… This was fun to watch! Keep it up!
@FilbertFlies
@FilbertFlies 2 жыл бұрын
Interesting, thanks for the info! I've just used lower cruising levels lately, but there are some charts included in the manual which I'll take a look at and see if that was the issue.
@FoxVictorBravo
@FoxVictorBravo 2 жыл бұрын
@@FilbertFlies One more thought ;-) in real life in the US, the minimum vertical speed that we must be able to maintain for ATC purposes is 500 ft/min. So while during a climb, if we were unable to maintain at least a 500 ft/min climb rate, we would have to advise ATC and request to level off and amend our cruising altitude. During this flight, seems like stopping at 330 or 350 would have been pretty realistic. In real life, going past 360 is quite rare in both the 700 and 900.

I know this is an older video, but I'll throw my two cents in. Simbrief is awesome, I use it every flight. Having said that, don't let Simbrief pick your cruise altitude. A quick work around, is to go to flightaware, find a corresponding flight that was flown as close to your flight time as possible and steal that cruise altitude.

Very nice video, and very on point delivery. I'm happy the throttle doesn't misbehave anymore, this was a very annoying bug. I ended up moving the throttles up and down by a miniscule amount constantly, that seemed to alleviate the mismatch. It's much more comfortable to fly now.

Very nice tutorial mate! It would be awesome if you could make a Combined Flows & Checklists document for the CRJ like you did for the 737, it made stuff very quick to learn-by-heart for me when I simply printed it out in a paper form :)

Yes, it's on the list of things to do actually. It has been for a long time. I'll get round to it one of these days!
