That was a cool lesson. I admire the integrity of not yelling at the child and just going with the flow. Real chill. Also, I'm a Croat, we have quite a lot of Philippine people working at our company, so that's how I became interested in learning a bit more about your language. It's quite cool to see that our alphabets are like 80% the same, except we have additional letters, and we don't have some English/Latin letters. Also our pronunciation is far simpler, we pronounce each letter with a single sound, kind of like you do for your vowels. Apply that to a Croatian alphabet, and you'll get yourself codes for a new language! :D Pronunciation of the words themselves is also a piece of cake, because you simply stack letters one after another and make the sounds as you go from left to right. I think the grammatical term for such pronunciation of letters is monophonic letters, right? So all of our alphabet, as far as I'm aware is monophonic, except for 3 letters: NJ (a combo of letters N & J), LJ (a combo of letters L & J), and DŽ (a combo of letters D & Ž). I could be wrong about these three letters as to whether they are polyphonic (I think they are), but please forgive me for that. I ain't a teacher, and grammar wasn't my high point when it came to the study of my language... but I wasn't that bad at it either. :D

Thanks. I haven't been to Croatia. Filipinos are spread out. They go where there's opportunity to live or work. The latin part of our alphabet could have been from the Spanish. The english are from Americans. Not familiar with mono or poly you wrote. It's always good to learn a new language specially if you want to communicate to people who speak that language.

It is really difficult for adults to learn a new language as we already have learned a lot. Unlike the kids who have more space in their brain. Not all can learn a new language. But If there's a will, there's a way 😊

Interestingly, in Brazilian Portuguese, we usually use "e" to read most letters of the alphabet, while Tagalog uses "a" instead. A, BE, CE, DE, E, EFE, GE, AGA. That's how we would read these letters. The most different for us to pronounce would be "ng", and for Filipino people the most different letters to pronounce I think would be "w" (dáblio) and "y" (ípsilon).

Thanks for a helpful video (and thanks to your co-teacher as well!) I'm writing a blog post about how to learn the Tagalog language, and I think I'll include a link to your video to get an idea of the pronunciation. Pronunciation-wise, which would you say are the most difficult sounds for American learners of Tagalog? It seems to me that everything is straight-forward except for perhaps rolling the r's and maybe the ñ (Maybe ñ actually isn't that hard)
@danishpinay
