Dear MatPat, A question just sparked me now after watching a bunch of clips from the movie Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs. The question I had that I was hoping you might be able to answer is, “How tough is the material used in Flint Lockwood’s spray on shoes?” I know it sounds like a silly question but I think it would be a interesting topic. It would also be very appreciated for people to like this comment so MatPat can see this.

Can we get a theory that see's if Gru could actually shrink the moon. I feel like it would be a very entertaining video.

I mean, if you could somehow remove all the space between electrons and the protons and neutrons at the atom's centre (the name escapes me, I apologize - didn't learn this in English), the moon could end up smaller than the tip of your pinkie. Or just remove all the space between the particles, even faster.

@@timetoaster3403 I mean, the OP was asking about shrinking the moon. Go and watch the Film Theory about Ant-man possibly destroying the world. *"Technological fantasies beyond our wildest imagination"* Now that I'm (technically) considered a young adult at the age of 18, and thanks to watching your videos MatPat, have at least gained a level of critical thinking skills more so than before, the way you opened this video with this particular line finally made something clicked inside my brain: When you think about it, Hiro Hamada (A super genius in a relatively normal neighborhood of his city) developed Microbots and literally gadgets for flippin' superheroes in the garage of his own Cafe House. Now I know, this is a movie, but it makes you wonder doesn't it? Generally speaking, no one's going to be meeting Hiro's standard's of inventing and engineering without the equal mind and creativity, but also, if equipment and more importantly *materials* for him to develop said inventions are so relatively available that he was able to create a multitude of Microbots in his home alone? Makes you wonder, how and where is he getting those materials? Several answers may be: 1. Either he's getting them from scrapyards. 2. Or he's making them along with developing his inventions (seen as he literally has a carbon 3D-Printer, though I don't think that Carbon can cut it for the electromagnetic properties and the actual capabilities of said microbots) 3. Or, there's actually a supplier (ideally a shop of some kind or a store) that is actually able to give these materials to actual 14-year olds. It's weird when you think about it right? How is he getting those materials? I don't ask how he made them because even the movie shows they couldn't care any less about that and just presented that _it took a lot of time to make them_ Maybe I'm just nitpicking, but hey, I am a theorist too :v

As he mentioned at the end. With current power technology it would be impossible to power thousands of small robots like that. He also didn't address how they stick together in a way that allows them to form 3D structures. They would also need a very powerful processer and lots of storage that would hold all of the code they would use to be controlled.

Honestly, I feel like the hardest part is to make a material that can couple, decouple, transport and re-arrange as quickly as those bots, while being strong enough to support the weights and forces of their own operations PLUS whatever they may be carrying. Probably doable with magnets, but whatever batteries they need to keep up the magnetic field should run out rather quickly, which is honestly a bummer.

Can you do a theory on the psycolological and physical damage Harry would have after living with the Dursleys? Being locked in a cabinet and only coming out at night to get food has to have some sort of effect on your health. Harry had no friends and pretty much was told that he was useless. How did he not come out of that house damaged in every way? He wasn't protected by his mothers love, he was protected by the most powerful thing of all. Plot armor.

Dear MatPat, Stephanie, Austin, Gaijin Goombah and any and all other members of the Game Theorists that I forgot/don't know about, Hi! It's me! Isaac! I realize that wording it that way makes it seem like we've interacted in some way before, but really I just wanted to make a reference to how Austin does all of his videos. In fact, I'll be putting in a few more references, so keep an eye out for them! (A clap and a half to any theorist who spots them all). Anyway, getting on topic, this is the first KZbin comment I’ve ever written and I’m writing it because I have a HUGE favour to ask. Like, the number of possible Mario Maker levels to the power of the cost of building a Death Star multiplied by the number of digits in pi huge. I have a game that I've loved for a long time, but I’ve always had trouble putting the lore together, so I decided to ask some professionals. Since I couldn't find any, I'll ask you guys instead. (Kidding!) The game in question is by the same people who created the "Kingdom Hearts" series. The characters in the game have appeared as side characters in one or more “Kingdom Hearts” games (I’m not sure which one/ones), but I want to know what actually happens in the game that focuses on THEIR story, called "The World Ends With You" (original Japanese title; "It's A Wonderful World"). The gameplay itself is fairly straightforward, and makes full use of the Nintendo DS’s features, such as battling across both screens and using the touchscreen really well for literally everything you do from battle to dialogue to using the menu. Additionally, there’s now a remake for iPhones called “The World Ends With You; Solo Remix”, but I haven’t played that, so I don’t know the differences, if there are any. (Also, there’s another remake on the way for the Nintendo Switch. “The World Ends With You: Final Remix”.) Unfortunately, the lore makes NO GOD DAMN SENSE to me. It’s like Scott Cawthon and Toby Fox teamed up to make the rageiest lore they possibly could. Or at least, that’s what it feels like for me. Except, they weren’t on the gaming scene at the time, so maybe that analogy doesn’t work… I dunno… Anyway, please, please, PLEASE, for the love of all that is cold, sweet and hard to flip (and may or may not sound like “Riot Smoke”) help me with this issue or I swear to Moana I will copy this into the comments section of every Game Theory, Film Theory and GT Live video you guys post until I see it happen! Sincerely, Isaac. P.S. I realize that it’s unlikely that this will get noticed in the KZbin comments, but I’m not on any social media sites and I don’t know the GT email address, so this is my only chance. If anyone can help me I would be IMMENSELY appreciative. Thanks.

When Hiro asked his brother (been so long i forgot his name) what type of battery does Baymax use he said it uses Lithium ion, then Hiro replied "Supercapacitors would be great" Take note that Supercapacitors are a real thing. even when they have less power than Lithium ion, they can be charged instantly or you can just add some solar panels so that the supercapacitor would stay charged. The REAL problems are: 1. We don't know how much power does a nanobot consume so possibly the supercapacitors would be drained almost instantly and overwhelm the charge of the solar panel by the discharge it needs for it to function 2. We don't know if we have the proper material for nanobots. In the movie, we see that the nanobots stack up really high and support heavy objects and if we tried to replicate it the material used for nanobots can possibly break, not to mention that the material has to be magnetic for it to work and since metals are the only thing that has that ability, too bad it's also heavy so when the nanobots would stack up high, the nanobots' structure would collapse under their own weight 3. The nanobots need a very strong electromagnet in order for it to stick to each other and to support the weight of the structures they made 4. We have to make the functioning components of a nanobot to be reaaaalllly tiny since the only place to put it is the core for optimal performance. You have to squeeze a strong raw motor in for the nanobot's mobility, a strong electromagnet, a receiver for the neural interface, wires for the components to connect and a supercapacitor. I'm really starting to think on how Hiro made it.

As for the power, the microbots probably have wireless power transmitters and receivers. It is a hundred years into the future after all, and wireless chargers already exist, so they've probably perfected the technology and dramatically increased the effective range.
@WisdomCritFail6 жыл бұрын
A lot of phones have wireless charging through the use of copper coils. Couldn't it be understandable that by the year 2150, we'll be able to increase the distance that the coils can charge things from and be able to wirelessly charge all of the bots? I know in the movie, there was no mention of something like this, but it could be an easier way of allowing the bots to last for more than a couple of minutes.
@TuxieBSOD6 жыл бұрын
No. Not without seriously bumbing up the power use of the transmitter to dangerous levels. It's a problem with the inverse square law. Attenuation of power is relative to the distance of the thing you want to charge. There *have* been improvements where you have a directional antenna pointed to the object you have to power, but even then there are actual physical limits. At least if we are using RF or magnetism.

Even the battery situation could be sorted out though (and was Hiro’s primary innovation anyway). Because his robots work with magnets, which is why they are even able to work together as they do in the first place, they can run subsystems working with each other that allows them to recharge or simply keep the battery charged on the fly. The headband would need batteries though. And as for Baymax, he is a semi-sentient drone running massive amounts of data at any given time AND running a complex body frame that mimics a human. The Microbots are much more well suited to long term usage simply because they follow a few orders, not actually running any major systems of their own. Tl;dr the Microbots are well suited to long term use thanks to the magnets and possible ability to recharge with them. Baymax is basically a super advanced robot ai, and would drain his battery faster as well as need a massive battery just to function.

i was just gonna say that since they're small the concentration wouldn't matter too much since it's not going to do much even if damaged the reason why battery technology hasn't improved much isn't because we can't concentrate more power it's that we don't want to because it's too much of a risk with the more energy stored the more potential energy which if pierced would release it rapidly but due to the size not much will be stored either way allowing for more lenient safety restrictions as well as it's not being mass produced on a consumer market allowing for even more dangerous amounts of concentrated energy or some bullshit like that lmao

Okay, as an electrical and computer engineer, I have to fight you on the point that microbots have happened in this day and age on par with the ones in Big Hero Six. To have the ability to move and function in the same manner as shown in the movie, they would need to have a motor and a method of generating an electric field dynamically. While this maybe be possible in 2152, we are far from getting there today due to the relative size of the machinery described above. The idea of a mechanical bee and its implications on modern robotics is rather interesting, however, and thank you for bringing it to my attention. Kind Regards

This made me realize how, in movies that take place in the far future, so many cultural elements are still the same as today and would certainly have been outdated by then. I guess the movie gets away with it because it doesn’t focus on the culture all that much.
