Here's some fun trivia. So Michael was 8 in 1910. That means that during world war 1 he would have been 12 and then 16 when the war ended. He would have lived through the war because he couldn't fight in it but, 21 years later in 1939, he would have been drafted by the British government to fight in world war 2 at 39 years old. (The British draft got all able-bodied men from 18 to 41 where as the american draft took all able bodied men from 21 to 45.) He more than likely would have died fighting Nazis! There's some bright light and joy for your day.
@RandomGuy-fq4ui6 жыл бұрын
ZaadinandSetsuna Rose Not sure how right I am here but conscription wasn’t straight away introduced and soldiers underwent a couple of months training so the likelihood is Michael wasn’t conscripted due to being a waste of resources to only serve for a few months or was conscripted but did such a short mandatory service in the army that he was able to escape alive. There is also a possibility that he went on to career that was required on the homefront eg a doctor. There is a chance as well that he would have been a conchie (conscientious objector, someone who despite being conscripted refused to fight) and was shot by fellow soldiers which is a sad truth about the war.
@alexbennett70186 жыл бұрын
Random Guy in world war 2 conscription started in limited form single men age 20 to 22 training only on 27 April 1939 due to the detention of international relations and in full on the 3rd of September 1939 for all men between 18 and 41 and by 1942 ale men between 18 and 51 and and women between 20 and 30 conscripts where used in the armed forces Cole mining and farming men passing the age of 51 during service where eligible to serve until he end of the war.

That would be actually a cool theory, but since Mary Poppins is somewhat magical, I don't know how you could explain it as ordinary people wouldn't be able to do this. Also the start with the nannies all being blown and swept away with the wind I always thought was rather silly. I've never had wind strong enough, other then a tornado, that could lift a human being in such a way..

I got a theory for you, Matpat. You know how mascots of fast food joints seem to be really weird and powerful? I'm a HUGE fan of Death Battle, and since you voiced in it before, maybe you can do the research to see which fast food mascot is the most powerful, most experienced, and most importantly, most DEADLY, and I'm not talking about their chemical ridden food. So, who is the deadliest? My pick has to be Ronald, since the guy can create suns and survive space. Hope you see this soon, because nothing starts the year off right like gladiator combat.

this is a really cool idea for a theory! I have a friend thats in writing club with me and this reminds me of a hilarious but dark story of all the food chain mascots being real and holding meetings about eachothers competition. @AvengerII6 жыл бұрын
It seems like the new film is tanking, too, just like the musical came and went without making that many ripples. I'm satisfied owning the 1964 film, the only time they could get away with making this. I'm NOT a huge fan of current Disney and don't trust these guys to make sequels to ANYTHING let alone one that's over 50 years late to the game. Even if Mary Poppins Returns had been good, it was never going to hold a candle to the original in the long run. And I'm STILL pissed at Disney for what it did to Star Wars and the campaign they orchestrated against the fans and critics who outlined legitimate grievances and discussions of where the new films went wrong. Instead of analyzing the criticisms and doing a true analysis of where their LFL people fucked up, they went after the fans and conducted an obvious smear campaign with the media they controlled and scared with their tentacles. Never again in my the remainder of my life will I look at Disney the same way let alone trust them. I hold them with the same disdain we should ANY company that has dared to take a dump on the consumers and get away with it -- that's virtually ALL big media (ABC, CBS, Fox, NBC, BBC) and even smaller companies that should know better about behaving like turds towards a small cult audience (Marvel and DC Comics; with fewer than 100,000 people buying comics reguarly in North America, they can't afford to behave like a-holes and promote a-hole creators but they do!).
@Kelsey-ol5ev6 жыл бұрын
AvengerII I recently saw Mary Poppins returns and I was afraid that it wouldn’t keep the same childish feeling and glow it had in the original but I will say I was not disappointed after seeing it because it did keep the same fantastical perfection of it, yes there were some weird points (china bowl) but we had the chalk in the original. Mary Poppins was stricter and has less of a cheery nature to her, but I will forgive Disney for this. I am biased though because I both love Disney and Lin-Manuel Miranda

Despite the stress he endured, I found Mr. Banks' enthusiasm in his job very refreshing. David Tomlinson pulled off a character that truly took pride in his work, despite it being in a position that most kids watching would have seen as a boring job. As an adult, it makes so much more sense that someone like Mr. Banks whose literal name was wrapped up in his job would have a bit of identity crisis upon being discharged. However, the fact that he has loved ones that care for him regardless (and has just grown a sense of humor, thanks to Mary Poppins and the children) helped keep the aftermath of his firing from going into much darker territory. Great job as usual, MatPat!

How the FRIK do the genetics work?? You’re telling me that if i had a child, they would look EXACTLY like one parent? (almost as if they were portrayed by the same actor.. 😏🙄) When they say ‘Marty.
