A 17 year old, full of adolescent confidence, built into a Messiah figure who has a divine right to a throne and a 'noble goal', combined with absolute authority on account of having three goddamn dragons who obey her commands, is bound to go off the deep end. If people couldn't see that coming, it's because they chose not to. Was it somewhat rushed at the end? Yeah. But it still made perfect sense from a narrative standpoint.

I would suggest that her madness isn't necessarily genetic. Remember, she ate a RAW HORSE HEART, raw meat and blood being one of the major methods of transmission for prion diseases, including multiple forms of degenerative madness that include agitation, paranoia, and aggressive behavior. Sure, it would have a remarkably slow progression, but I would suggest that as an alternate form of her madness.

It's a possibility, but unlikely. Dany doesn't really display any other symptoms of variable Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease, the human form of Mad Cow disease. People with the condition suffer from rapid mental deterioration, muscle problems such as a loss of coordination, and slurred speech. Also, the disease is always fatal, most patients slipping into a coma and dying within 13 months. If Dany had vCJD, she very likely would have died from it long before she ever got to Westeros.

Like he said, he didn't know her, no one in Westeros knew her. You would think she would at least try to bring people to her cause without threatening them with death if they don't comply. It's when I realized the "I'm a liberator" was straight bullshit. Her attitude worsened as season seven progressed and became downright scary after she found out who Jon really was in season eight. I agree that it was rushed, but so many moments showed this would happen very soon.

Think about this: *She ends slavery but she doesn't put an end to humans fighting amonst each other* This is something, that if Jon knew about, he would never bow to her again. *She preaches about being a breaker of chains, and yet she burns people if they don't follow her, making a metaphorical set of chains right there* *She talks about being a hero, yet she burns, kills or tortures anyone who crosses her once. Keep an eye out, she has never done anything where, directly or indirectly, she did not benefit.* She fought her way into power over the space of six seasons through fear and inspiration and her promise to do the right thing, without actually looking at the reality and seeing what she's doing. Jon managed to get into power within the space of one season without even trying. But does that mean Dany is more deserving of the Throne? Not necessarily. See, Dany had all the right resources and the name she needed to have people wanting to get her favour when she was in power. But Jon, presumably, had nothing but his heart and his will to do the right thing and to act, not for power or for gold or for Last names, but out of love. That's why Jon should be king, because he does everything for the greater good (except for those cave moments with a hot ginger, in which case, unlike Ned Stark, the man he admired, he disbands tradition, realising traditional methods, oaths and honour just doesn't work sometimes)

And since Jon wasn't a product of inbreeding the mothers dark hair features are in fact would produce dominant features than features from his father. Also to go with the old saying that boys look like their mothers, and girls like their fathers.

This theory would've been fine, except the mad kings madness also came from him being kidnapped and tortured, and him being under siege from his previous hand who he thought wanted to rule anyways. So as it played out in the show, Dany's maddness only came from Jons rejection and Misandei's beheading, and betrayal..., good thing she lost Drogo,her loyal blood rider was headed and Jorah betrayed her and her madness never manifested then. So genetics aside, she didn't get dementia, she just was depressed, even though to me anyways she's been through greater trails and tribulations and remained stable.

I kinda like the idea that Dany's story is actually a unique look into the arc of a villain... A play on the concept that "everyone is the hero of their own story". She is strong, likable, easy to sympathize with... But at the same time is constantly shown in the exact kind of scenarios that you'd typically see the main villain in during normal storytelling. She has a grudge against a civilization that she feels has wronged her. She shows no remorse in destroying those who does not comply with her own ideals. She appears unfathomably charismatic to those who follow her, to the point where many do so blindly. She recruits mainly from people whose main purpose is to kill and destroy, rather than people who genuinly wishes to help make the world a better place. (Mercenaries who are basically Stormtroopers, marauders, former pirates, and ruthless nobles out for revenge) She controls legendary monsters that sow terror in the hearts of people at their very mention. Not to mention, that burning house scene... With the silver hair... Just give her a trenchcoat and a ridiculously long katana already!

I guess the reason many people love her is because she started out so innocent. She was just that cute little almost-woman who got married off to some brute and then stood up against him and became badass. Everyone was cheering for her. So the gradual process of her turning cruel isn't quite as apparent to everyone as it is to you (and some others). But honestly, that's why I love her. That scene where she killed everyone by burning them and then stepped out of the fire, I just wanted to cheer and scream for her. It was mad as fuck, but also really amazing. Every time she does something like this, I feel goosebumps all over because she's just so amazing (and cruel).

As a book reader, I wouldn't entirely attribute Aerys' insanity to inbreeding (though it obviously played a part.) When he was abducted at the "Defiance of Duskendale", he was raped, tortured, and almost killed by Lady Duskendale before being saved by Barristan. After that, he stopped allowing anyone with swords near him (why his hair and fingernails grew so long) and started going bonkers. He wasn't just inbred. He had PTSD and became insane over it.

Basically, because Viserys does not understand the dothraki language, some people mistranslate some things as to provoke extreme reactions and create misunderstanding, notably Jorah and one of the slave girl of Dany. The scene where he storms in Dany's tent furious that he has been "summoned" by her, and the scene where he interrupts Dany's "heart eating" ceremony" are supposed ot be results of that ... Or maybe I took a theory too seriously ? ^^

For example say the season was...12 episodes. Episode 6 could have been when "blank" dies and the remaining six episodes could revolve around her declining mental state and the season finale would be the destruction of "Blank" with jon or arya stopping her. It definitely was rushed when it comes to pacing, so that's what I'm upset about. What I find laughable is the fact that so many people missed all of the clues that pointed to this outcome. I just wish there was more time to spend on a little more development for the character motivations, but as far as what happened in the episode, everything played out the way it always was going to. When it comes to Jamie and Cersei, the Valonqar prophecy wasn't included in Maggie The Frog's talk with Cersei, so it didn't bother me as much as it bothered others.

me and a few friends were binging through the show right as season 8 was airing and the episode where she went berserk had already aired so people who had been watching steadily saw it already but we hadnt gotten there yet. We kept talking to my one friend's older sister about how nuts Dany was and she was just like 'how did you know...?' I thought it was super fuckin obvious.
