I just thought of something that might throw a wrench into this theory. Superman gains his powers due to the effects of Earth's yellow sun, so its possible that his body is somehow able to absorb the energy from the fusion reactions he produces. Still I do appreciate the idea of applying real world science to superheroes as its interesting.

Superman would not violate any law of physics since he canonically has something called bioelectricity which extends nanometers away from his skin as a result of exposure to earth's yellow sun. Bioelectricity prevents him from gaining mass (E=Mc2) or fusing air molecules with his own. Moreover,-and correct me if i'm wrong- this is also how he bends space time to fly. Essentially, its just a lesser speedforce. Edit: He does technically use his bioelectric aura to fly but a more refined classification would be graviton manipulation. Other uses include extending this aura to others in a certain radius. Thus resolving how he can fly at high speeds whilst carrying un-protected humans or objects without anihalating them.

Actually, It's confirmed that Superman bends space and time from his own perspective using his Bioelectric aura. Essentially, it's like a force field that he can use to control gravity within it, granting him the ability to fly and move fast like the flash without causing damage to the world around him (since it's protected by Superman's Bioelectric aura). Also, Superman can see the flash because he can also move at lightspeeds, and Superman's brain works hundreds of times faster than an ordinary person's.

Superman has a bioelectrical aura, which much like the speedforce, eliminates the dangerous sideffects. Sometimes this aura is referred to as tactile telekinesis and was introduced in the early 2000s to explain Superboy's powers. He can extend it to other objects/people/things he gets in contact with, which is how people survive or objects dont break when he moves them or catches them at high speeds. This aura is also what protects his suit to stay intact.

Thank you! This entire thing is moot because of those 2 simple facts. The vibration of The flash allows molecules to go through him, and after superman learns to control telekinetics he easily makes a barrier to filter molecules around him. That's why he doesn't go supernova anytime he's outside of an ozone layer and getting 100% solar absorption.

I haven't seen the movie, but you showed that one frame of Supes racing Flash and I immediately went, "oh no, he doesn't have the Speedforce, if he keeps up with Flash he must be igniting the atmosphere..." edit: Note that afaik, in some continuities Supes does have a magical field extending a millimeter away from his skin that can magic away this problem: tactile telekinesis, the same thing that gives him his resilience and lets him, for instance, hold up a plane without breaking it apart.

while it has never been confirmed, wouldn't superman need access to the speed force anyway, otherwise his body would tear itself apart? Also, in "man of steel" , it is canon that superman's body has a protective energy field penetrating about a centimeter to an inch around his body and that he can control it at will. then again, he can fly into a star and survive... Perhaps the entire planet of krypton and other "super" species are speedsters. I believe it was referenced in the latest live action series about the flash that there was an entire race of speedsters out there who just run so fast that time can not keep up

Superman does not need access to the speed force altho, the speedforce in canon does govern, on some level, all movement in the multiverse. Thats why if the speed force collapsed it would destroy pretty much everything. Superman in the comics raw durability/ invulnerability makes things like not effect him, in the movie (and this explanation has been used for various other versions of superman comics, movies, and animated) superman has a small field of energy that extends beyond just his person and whether consciously or not can control it to effect other things in his presence. Thats the idea behind him saving planes and such from the sky on occasion by grabbin the wings of the plane which would effectively just tear the wings off. However.... and i mean this is deep stuff, if you look into superman at the deepest levels, he has some amount of fate manipulation because he is superman. That would be the real reason none of that stuff effects him at the highest levels. Its the whole idea of hope he represents made tangible by the stories he's in. and some writers have actually alluded to it. that because he kind of represents boundless hope, when in dire straights the concept/power of hope manipulates events so that he effectively saves the day or is a big part of saving the day. The races are explained by both characters never truly going their top speed and everyone knows that the flash is ultimately faster than superman. As mat said in this video... the flash can go as fast as he needs to. what he doesnt say is the flash can go as fast as the plot requires or the writers say

Minor problem. Barry is travelling in a radius of about 20 feet, and superman is noticeably tracking him, which means Supes' eyes are within a couple degrees of barry. Which means the light has to travel 20 feet from Flash to superman's eyes BEFORE Barry goes more than a couple feet. Barry is only going at about 1/10th the speed of light in that scene.

Superman would not violate any law of physics since he canonically has something called bioelectricity which extends nanometers away from his skin as a result of exposure to earth's yellow sun. Bioelectricity prevents him from gaining mass (E=Mc2) or fusing air molecules with his own. Moreover,-and correct me if i'm wrong- this is also how he bends space time to fly. Essentially, its just a lesser speedforce. Edit: He does technically use his bioelectric aura to fly but a more refined classification would be graviton manipulation. Other uses include extending this aura to others in a certain radius. Thus resolving how he can fly at high speeds whilst carrying un-protected humans or objects without anihalating them.

8:10 Like always you make some huge leap of logic and base everything off of that. There's no reason to think Flash is running at that speed in that moment, nothing in the movie points to Flash even being able to run that fast yet.
