5:15 Her neck is fine regardless of the weight since she’s pulling the hair with her hands not her head, which means most, if not all, of that weight is being transferred to her arms. So the only way her neck would be in danger is if she let go. So as long as she’s able to pull the weight, she’s fine.
@kazm1xx2 жыл бұрын
I was looking through the comments just to find someone saying this! As someone who grew up with very long and easily tangled hair, pulling on hair becomes a lot less painful when you hold the base of your hair with your hands. The force that would usually be put on your head is transferred to your hands and arms instead, leading to a much less painful experience.

One wrong thing I could think of. Since the body could get used to the stress after the build-up of her 18 years worth of hair. Would that not mean her body would be very powerful after dragging that hair around for so long. Since humans have adapted to almost everything that has been thrown at us that means we can overcome anything with time. 18 years of 4 inches of hair growth per month with the weight of her hair increasing at a constant rate would mean her body would naturally adapt to the stress on it.
@kaleisharp44054 ай бұрын
That’s pretty cool actually
@glowy_tulip4 ай бұрын
adaption doesn’t work like that. adaption occurs over a LONG span of time and will not change in your life. if she decided to have a child whose hair had that same tension and the cycle repeated, maybe, just maybe, her descendants would have adapted to the tension but that would be so many generations afterward, i’m talking thousands of generations. this is obviously just my knowledge though.

You know, the hair falling out thing may affect us, but Rapunzel has healing hair. It would automatically heal her scalp. But the cleaning thing you really can't argue with. Edit- I know that matpat said he would be looking at this without the healing aspect, but in the end, he was talking as if that line (about not acknowledging the healing aspect) at the beginning didn't matter. Edit 2- someone mentioned that in the song that she sings, it says that the hair doesn't heal, but it turns back time, so the hair would be self cleaning. So my comment is useless.

Alright, but she sings her healing song on a regular basis, so while the magic goes through her hair to wherever someone is touching it, couldn't her hair also be repairingitself, since the healing magic has to go through there each and every time? Maybe that's also the reason why her hair looks and smells good, because the magic is getting rid of all of the dirt and repairs any damaged hairs?
@maxdebeau81327 жыл бұрын
That actually makes sense, if the healing magic is just kind of healing everything it passes through, like a eugenes hand stuck in the hair etc.
@poke-hontas3727 жыл бұрын
That's what I thought, too. I just wonder why it isn't able to repair itself, once it's been cut? (Although I've seen a trailer for a rapunzel show or something of the sorts, and in that, her full head of hair grew back, all at once) - I wonder if that's because the hair healed itself, thus growing back?

@@Flurquoise Is the theory about those animated series? No? It's about the movie and the abilities shown WITHIN the movies lore? Because that's what we assume, everything within the movie's plot and we it showcase. Why something outside the movie would matter if the purpose of theory is analysing things the movie shows you? The example you gave would've made more sense if the original book that predates the movie tells it differently.

@dancesmokesmile344 Жыл бұрын
3:39 most hair would actually stop growing at a certain length. That length is different for most people. Well, it wouldn’t stop growing, but it has a point where it wouldn’t get longer. Because you’re hair stands (each strand) goes through different phases, where it grows, doesn’t grow, and fall out. All your hair will not grow at the same time either. So because of those phases your hair will hit a growth “plateau” where it doesn’t really get longer. (Hair stylist, and learned about the science behind hair at school, not cosmetology school, I took hairdressing at high school/university or whatever it would be in the American equivalent)

But in the movie when someone climbs up her hair she is holding her hair and her scalp is under no stress at all. Also her hair didn’t all grow overnight, so wouldn’t she be fine because she would get used to it over a long period of time. A baby cant drag around a 1 pound weight but I’m sure that that baby will gain a-lot more than 1 pound of weight over the course of its life. Did you ever think that the since her hair is magic, that when she sings the hair heals itself? I mean its glowing healing hair! Maybe when she sings, the hair glows and heals itself. It starts killing itself, but then when she sings it heals itself. That's my theory based on his theory.
@amberrost26657 жыл бұрын
Cassidy Chatten The point was if you don't consider the magical properties how her hair would work in real life. Cause as soon as you throw magic in ANYWHERE anything is pretty much possible. Then wheres the fun in theories?
@blaise9317 жыл бұрын
That might be part of the reason she has to do it so often. Not just to heal bitch whats-her-face.

Well, for all we know Magic could just be really advanced science that is too advanced for primitive apes as ourselves to understand. But what do I know?

MatPat at the beginning you didn't need to do all that math because when people climb up her hair most of the time she's pulling them as well so the weight in between her hands and her hair is just dead weight so there was no force on her head at the time
@bfure17 жыл бұрын
Alexander Ramirez it's driving me insane. Only the hairs tensile strength matters.

exactly. it was infuriating to listen to
@stephenhoy7 жыл бұрын
I was thinking that too, but MatPat showcased that scene where the guy (haven't watched it, don't know the names) is climbing up at night with the hair on the window sill, where I'm guessing Rapunzel was asleep and therefore unable to provide that helping hand
@thevaliantone82707 жыл бұрын
Stephen Hoy but then I ask why wasnt that calculated. On top of that, what about the times we see her carrying some of her hair does the hair problem still exsist or does it lessen it or does it go away all together?

Also she holds on to her hair when someone climbs it so it has no effect on her neck XD

Well, yeah. Obviously.

5:20 Why would snapping her neck be an issue with the pulley thing? The neck would not be supporting all that weight, the hair outside the window and the hook itself would, right?

@@picky228 ohhhhhhh...well I guess your comment could be seen in two different ways. sorry, I didn't fully understand what you meant. (So him mentioning that the princess would be a girl, is like a "captain obvious" statement)

One thing you forgot is that because it is so long the weight would be spread out through it causing less stress on her scalp.

Devin Becker I was definitely thinking that too. At least while she's in the tower. She would totally have to carry all 60 lbs once she's out running from raiders and stuff.
@shootingstar25507 жыл бұрын
Devin Becker that's true! What I was thinking was, after all those years (and what you said) wouldn't she get used to it and not even notice it's getting heavier? And different hair have different strength and some are really light to carry. Even if it's regular blond hair. There's different types of hair, which means, different outcomes. If it's easy to wash, or if it's lighter than usual hair, if it's strong hair, or even if it's heavier. It can change the theory. Especially if it's strong hair, after all, the hair get stronger after it plucks. It gets thicker, which can help and make a problem. 1)it makes it heavier 2) it's harder to pluck it out (Also at the end of the movie, would it do something to her when she cut her hair completely? Like effect how she lives, or sense how long she had long hair would the hair get stronger? I don't know if this is correct though. Mattpat I really hope you see this, just for a thought I guess)

Uh but her hair has healing powers so like maybe if she hums quietly while doing everything she would be able to keep her hair

The subtitles say "upbeat intro" whenever your intro plays, and that is the most vague thing ever, like seriously would someone please describe this music to me, the suspense hurts 😂
