What a fantastic script! It’s terribly difficult to capture a sense of romantic love and they did it sensationally here. In awe. Each emotion fully realized and realistic punctuated with charming comic relief. Quality series.

Bert Remsen who played the heckler in the audience at the Army camp did some voiceovers in some of the episodes as radio announcers and tv announcers.I recognized his voice.

I also wish they would have changed Laura's hairstyle a bit to show the passage of time. The Dick Van Dyke show is really bad on continuity.

They had no sense that the show would be a classic and scrutinized by fans 60 years later as they watch every episode on KZbin. :) There are 100s of continuity errors from the rock in the basement leaving no room for a pool table, to the pool shark episode, to the starting the day of the Richie's birth in one house and ending the day in the new house, to Buddy being Bar Mitzvahed as a kid AND as an adult, to the many regular characters playing multiple parts, etc. But it's still the #1 sitcom of all time! At least, it is to me and Wanda Maximoff 😁

@@echocheck to their credit, when she wore it for Drew Patton she told Rob it was "ages old" so it's not too hard to believe that she'd had it since before they got married! It's a little hard to believe that stylish Laura would still be wearing it though, especially since she did so much shopping.

I love how these flashback episodes are not canon compliant so in half Millie is married to Jerry, and the other half she's not married to him.

Being in a relationship---even worse married to a girl//woman you can't get along with much less trust or worse can't love is worse than the previous. Been there, lived that and know the consequences. She had or developed a psychotic personality disorder, ie: a psychopathic personality disorder known today as Antisocial Personality Disorder---- and life was hell.

Rob had more "other women" episodes than Laura had "other men" episodes but there were quite a few of them-- most of them were phenomenal episodes as this is the best sitcom of all time.

Sometimes when all else fails an ultimatum needs to be given to indicate consequences. I finally issued an ultimatum to a verbally abusive husband before divorcing him. It was the last ditch attempt to get him to listen. Occasionally they can shock a person back in to reality of their actions.

Boy-oh-boy, what a contentious episode! If I had been in the fictitious Rob Petrie's position Laura would have had to marry the other guy. Any girl that would date another guy, under those circumstances, isn't worth worrying about! ( Edit: Great episode though!😉 )

Another episode (Will You Be My Wife?) mentions that when Rob was engaged to Laura, he had another fiancee at his home. Not just a girlfriend, a fiancee. So he isn't really in a position to lecture her. He's just lucky she didn't know, or she might have just gone and married Clark instead.
