Surviving being ejected out of a plane going Mach 10 is NOT possible in real life. So... simplest explanation is that it's a movie, and therefore not necessarily chained to the laws of physics. However, (and you may have heard this theory at this point), some people think that Maverick actually DOES die at this point and the rest of the movie is essentially a last dying "fever dream" where he reconciles with two of the people in his life that he felt most ostracized from (Rooster and Peggy), so he can die in peace, basically. Interesting, but I personally subscribe to the "it's only a movie" position.
@tronam Жыл бұрын
@@carllyngholm5568 The only time a plot "flaw" takes me out of a movie is if I'm no longer emotionally engaged with it and any sense of verisimilitude is gone. In general I find the pursuit of them to be a pointless intellectual exercise that does nothing to enhance the experience and only distracts from it. Movies are artifice by nature and my suspension of disbelief only works if I can accept them on their own terms. Most of my favorite films are filled with contrived conveniences, unrealistic dialog and impossible circumstances, but I can usually forgive and accept all of that as long as they convincingly resonate with emotional or thematic truth. When watching a magic show I don't want to know how the tricks are done; I want to be tricked because my desire to experience a sense of wonder and amazement is why I went to the show in the first place.

Just a quick note: When they launched their revolution, they only got 79 of their jets, and the US canceled the shipment of the 80th plane and kept it. For some reason I have it embedded in my memory, that they explicitly state that the mission is targeted at Iranian territory. I still think Matt Pat failed to answer the question “Why does it matter if we know who the enemy is?” In their review of the movie, Chapo Trap House comes to the conclusion that the anonymity of the enemy is essential in order for the studio to create a nostalgic unifying feeling that calls back to simpler times when most Americans were not very informed about our government’s foreign opposition, and rather were willing to accept a blind patriotic stance against those they believed to be threats to the nation. In obscuring the enemy, the movie is able to recreate this we against them divide where we the viewers are all forced to be on the same side due to the simple fact that we do not know enough about our enemies to question how they are being presented to us by our leaders.

Also, me being mexican, the movie never fooled us because there was a popular video by Luis Miguel, called La Incondicional, where he becomes a fighter pilot and, at the end of the song, he flies, you guess it, an F-5, the best our army had at that time... and still today. This would Tom the antagonist who has understandebel motive, protetion his best friend's kid but needing to letting go and trustion Rooster's abilituis. I also think it would have been better if Rooster had to fly in the final fight, as it would build on Tom arc if trustion Roose It would also give more weight to all the new charactors we are introduse to Unfortunal it would be hard to have Tom and Iceman last moments together which are sone of the best scenes. Like how Ice uses his own voice (which hurts him) to ask which one of them was the better pilot is heartfelt and speak volume to how combetive they both are
@cobalt37382 жыл бұрын
The only issue with that is that Rooster wouldn't have the slightest idea how to fly the Tomcat, he didn't even know how to operate the Rio's position. It's understandable because it's an older airframe, not one he's comfortable on. Maverick on the other hand, has flown the cat before and understands it's dangers. The F-14 lacks a fly by wire system and so stalling the plane, over performing it, or going into a flat spin would've been a legitimate concern on a brand new Tomcat, even moreso an Iranian bird that's been sitting in a hangar for who knows how long.
